It's always "Jukebox Hero" for me. Why don't they find out why the crappiest songs are the ones that get stuck in your head?

2002-12-13 4:39:08 PM
Tall and tan and oh so lovely the girl from ipanema goes walking and as she passes each guy she passes goes "ooooh".....

I got nothing

2002-12-13 4:39:13 PM
Now if they can find the area where MIDI tunes get stuck, I could have that area excised.

2002-12-13 4:39:36 PM
Dammit! Thanks a lot, numbnuts.

A finger of fudge is just enough to give a kid a treat,
a finger of fudge is just enough, it's really good to eat,
it's full of Cadbury's goodness...

etc...etc...etc... It's been over 10 years since my England days- but that jingle is still stuck in my head...

You yanks are lucky the only catchy song you have to listen to is the meow mix commercial... Finger of Fudge was worse!

I wonder if spending more time on musical pursuits makes it worse.. I seem to be particularly affected by stuff getting stuck in my head - and I've written music for 8 years. Hmm.

2002-12-13 4:40:21 PM
GREAT! Now 'Girl from Impanema' is stuck in my head!

Hmmmm,

We had joy
We had fun
We had Seasons in the Sun
Now the wine
and the sun
like the seasons
have all gone...

Ah, better now.

2002-12-13 4:46:19 PM
We do this to each other at work sometimes. We refer to it as programming each other. Wait until your buddy is deep in the zone coding away on something, then pass by subtly humming a tune or singing a song. 2 hours later he's wondering why the hell this crappy song is stuck in his head.

They said the rostromedial prefrontal cortex was where information about the harmonic relationships of music are stored. The region is also connected to the temporal lobe, which is involved in more basic sound processing

Thats what I have been telling them for years.......

2002-12-13 4:49:02 PM
I read that as Imp Enema.

And anyway, the two most annoying stuck-in-your-head songs of all time: Ironic by Alanis Morrisette, and Feliz Navidad. It's a toss-up as to which is worse.

2002-12-13 4:49:06 PM
bastages, thanks for farking up my weekend.

2002-12-13 4:49:11 PM
the temporal lobe is involved in more basic sound processing

This is the most hideous oversimplification error. But only I care

Alright stop, collaborate and listen, Ice is back with my brand new invention.
Something grabs a hold of me tightly, flow like a harpoon daily and nightly
Will it ever stop? Yo, I don't know. Turn out the lights, and I'll glow
To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal, light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle.
Dance, bum rush to the speaker that booms.
I'm killin' your brain like a poisonous mushroom."

2002-12-13 4:51:40 PM
There was this song that came out in, like, 1992. By some dumb ho named Crystal Waters. Alls I remember from it was this "and sheeee's homeless - la da di la da da...."
Holy christ, that thing popped into my head while walking through central park last week and only an exorcism is gonna get it out! ARRGGGHHH!

2002-12-13 4:51:52 PM
I would walk 500 miles
and I would walk 500 more
just to be the man who walked a thousand miles
to fall down at your door

2002-12-13 4:52:00 PM
Girl from Ipanema is awesome.

Worst song to be stuck in head: It's Been Awhile or any of the other indistinguishable "nu metal" songs on the radio today by Puddle of Staind Linkin Bizkit Sour Mudd.

2002-12-13 4:52:17 PM
Last Christmas.

The Jimmy Eat World version. The cure? Listening to it repeatedly, and repeatedly again for hours on end. I'll be sick of the song soon. Maybe.

I want to wish you a merry Christmas!
I want to wish you a merry Christmas!
I want to wish you a merry Christmas!
I want to wish you a merry Christmas!

Feliz Navidad!

I'm Henry the 8th, I am
Henry the 8th, I am, I am.
I got married to the widow next door,
She's been married seven times before;
And every one was an Henry
She wouldn't have a Willie nor a Sam
I'm her eight old man, I'm Henry
Henry the 8th I am I am
Henry the 8th I am.

second verse, same as the first ...
