I wouldn't have seen that without this link. So Allison Kilkenny can urge away, I don't think she'll have much of an impact.

What the fark was Obama thinking with the FISA vote?

Obviously, Liberals should start donating heavily to Barr's campaign.

The way I see it, unwarranted wire tapping, torture, illegal searches, arresting and holding people without probable cause...they've been doing that the whole time anyway. But at least have the decency to be clandestine about it. Do it behnid my back but don't make it legislation.

But by all means, throw your vote away on the guy who tests seatbelts. I'm in FL so they're just going to fark my vote up anyway so who cares?

That was a pretty farking stupid vote, IMO anyway.

You tards still haven't figured that out? He was thinking, "Hey, I might be president soon. I suddenly have a much more expansive view of presidential power."

Hope that helps.

smooshie : What the fark was Obama thinking with the FISA vote?

Just throwing this out there, but wasn't there some kind of scandal/conspiracy theory where the telecom companies were bribing representatives for their votes? Perhaps Obama was bribed as well.

Have no idea if he was or not, but why would he change his position on a bill his supporters hated that he knew would bring nothing but backlash? A big hunk of money would seem to cover the "motive" part of his vote, anyway.

Yeah, cause the Obama campaign needs money. Running on a shoestring that one is.

There are three reasons I can see behind his vote:
1. Maybe he wants more presidential power.
2. Maybe he thinks this will force what the Bush Admin has done into the public eye in a way it can't ignore (telecoms have to prove that the AG told them it was cool to act without a warrant).
3. Maybe he was afraid of the attack ads the republicans would have run against him had he voted against it.

I think the term is "political expediency". Because of his stance on FISA I am no longer sure I will vote for him in November.

WTF!

Obviously you don't read fark. The fark posters are mostly liberal, but the politics tab has had a decidely pro-McCain/anti-Obama bent for quite some time in terms of what gets greened. Even when pro-Obama things do go green they almost always go green late at nigh tor early in the morning, while the bulk of hte day is pro-McCain links.

Halliburton didn't need money, either. So can we toss that out as one of the reasons for the Iraq war?

Can we just get it over with and put a monkey in the oval office? I really don't think it would make much difference; plus, it would free up alot of MSM bandwidth.

After typing this I imagined people capitalizing on the monkey part at the expense of Obama, but I'm too buzzed to care.

Interesting. I can see a bit of an attempt to court independent, security-minded voters, but I don't think that is big enough a voting block to make the backlash worthwhile.

/Ah well, will still prolly vote for him.

Up until that FISA vote last week, Obama had my vote without any doubt.

After "flip-flopping" (I hate that term), I honestly am not sure who I will be voting for come November. I doubt I vote third party, but come on, that FISA vote was ridiculous on so many levels.

Obama being only ahead by a dozen points in Illinois got greened immediately in the middle of the day. OTOH, I had to submit the poll showing McCain LOSING Arizona (a far bigegr deal than "only" winning by double digits) about a dozen times before it finally got greened at like 4 am.

so it goes

15pts = outlier, and unique
3pts = reasonable, like a zillion others.

The first respected nationwide poll that shows McCain up by more than the MOE will be greenlit.

Anyone not voting for Obama over FISA = the same as people not voting for Obama who supported Clinton.

If you truly care about the constitution, you are not going to empower someone who would be 100x worse the Obama. And "empower" is exactly what you do to McCain if you don't vote for Obama.

The real reason is that he was already thinking about himself as president and he wanted to preserve his ability to wiretap the Clintons 24/7 so he could sleep at night without fear.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, if you idiots lose to McCain after losing to friggin' GWB twice you should really just disband as a party. Especially if it's over one stupid issue. Next the Republicans will run a sea otter with diarrhea and you'll lose to that.
