Well, just as the first non-TotalFarker in this thread, and as someone who only casually Farks at work, let me be the first to say

For all the reasons above and many more.

Take from someone who's been around Fark for a long damn time, you're not getting all of Fark unless you're getting TotalFark.

Don't wait months like I did debating it:

Besides, you're giving Drew beer money, and really, what better cause is there?

I dunno if it's worth it or not, I hardly ever even use the damn thing, but Fark has given me tons of laughs over the years...no, this isn't my 'original' log in, and I have met some lifelong friends here and continue to do so. So to me it's worth it just to support Fark with it. Don't buy your buddy just one beer at the bar and you have your 5 bucks right there! See? Plus at work ALL I do is sit in front of this damn screen for 12 hours. Feh. I really need something to pass the time and Fark is perfect for that! If you only visit here occasionally and don't think as highly of the site as most of us do, then don't do it. But, otherwise, yeah, it's worth it. Every so often I'll wander into TotalFark if the links and conversation is boring and I see a lot of cool sites that get passed over for one reason or another. Some of them are fun, some of them are lame, some of them are educational. It's a good balance.

Oh....and the #1 reason to get TF, is the Boobies of course! Wo0t!

Nope. I was a member, but didn't want to be automatically billed again, so I cancelled thinking that my subscription would run out on its own.

Well, that didn't happen, it cut off immediately, and I lost the months I paid for but hadn't used. An email to Drew was apparently ignored.

I still read Fark, but no way I will support it again if that's how much I count for as a customer.

Worth it? Not really.

Should you do it anyway and support the site you like? Yes.

No, let the monkeys sort through the crap for you and pull out the best stuff. Why pay to do it yourself? The system is backwards!

My take:

1. Total Fark is a handy tool set, more than a good web site. It could use some further enhancement, but it's good for filtering the content by type (including my favorite, "Upcoming").

2. You're on the same server, so there's no speed advantage, in case you're wondering.

3. The badge logo is ugly.

4. Total Fark gets rid of most of the ads. This can be good, or not good. Personally, I find myself commenting in the Classified threads a lot.

5. Upcoming Photoshops are good - but I don't Photoshop.

6. Gogi, Drew, Mike, et all couldn't be nicer people - seriously. I really like the folks that run this web site, and you support their efforts with TotalFark.

7. The Total Fark forum moves between topics a bit quickly for me.

So, here's my take: Get it, it's good. Keep in mind that it won't replace Fark. It will give you the inside track to Fark.

Don't forget about Fark Chat. It's Java-rific.

If Totalfark is the only place where some of you can find Boobies on the internet, then your probably getting your parents to pay that $5/m.

But, for the rest of you, don't take that the wrong way, just stay out of that totalfarkforum, some of the Farkers in there are downright elitist bastards alright. I'm guessing they like it that way.

I did TotalFark for a month, just to check it out. If you really enjoy chasing links and have a lot of time to kill, I'd say it was worth $5 a month. There are tons of cool links that don't make it to the front page.

If you feel like you want to support fark, I'd say it is a good way to go.

If you are limited on your time and don't even read most of the articles linked from the main page, well, you may want to think twice.

I enjoyed the month I did it, but I have enough distractions online already, plus I already pay too much for entertainment (satellite TV and all).

In summary, if you are constantly online and in search of stuff to read, go for it. You'll never lack for surfing material.

Well, I wouldn't know, except for that time when someone fricked up and everyone was a "totalfarker" for a little while. And then, I found there were too many articles, really. Especially lame-arsed articles that weren't worth (reading, or) posting on regular Fark, by lame-arses like me.
But then again, maybe you get the hang of it!
Please don't vote for me...

Eh. I would, but Drew don't take food stamps. I remember reading somewhere that Drew could make something like $30,000 a month doing one pop up ad. Personally, I wouldn't mind closing out one ad upon loading the page, doesn't bother me... then Drew would have all the money he needed, and EVERYONE could be Total Fark. Just my 2 cents.
