(Daily Camera)   Apparently the kid in "WarGames" was based on a real person, who grew up, started a software company, and is now suicidal and possibly naked in Hawaii   ( divider line

farkwell:if you took a spark plug out so you could piss on the business end, how well would the engine run?

Apparently, it'll still run, just a little irregularly. My dad bought a tiny POS Japanese pickup used, and one of the spark plugs managed to work its way out of the engine. I'd imagine, assuming it was operational, that you could have pissed on it with the engine running.

/Pickup got totaled when a motorcycle strayed onto the wrong side of the road and hit it head on.
//Biker walked away.
///Replaced with an old F150 from Still in pretty good shape

CaptainSmartass:Wargames: released in 1983
Steven Thomas: born in 1971 or 1972, hacked into NCAR in 1985 or 1986
Submitter: FAIL

That, and just to clarify for the terminally dense: National Center for Atmospheric Research, not nearly as scary (or unrealistic) as the mainframe for NORAD, which has been given full control over the US nuclear arsenal.

The military and aliens are out to get him. Yeah, but he's in Hawaii, man!

FTA: Steven Thomas was arrested in April, his brother said, when he was caught running naked in his Lanikai neighborhood.

... and that's odd? I thought that's what they did over there.

Steven Thomas' wife, Candis Thomas, told a Honolulu newspaper this week that her husband said the balcony at the hotel they were staying at was not high enough "for what I need to do."

You know, if my husband said something like this to me, I might not leave him alone near any balconies or large bodies of water. But, what do I know?

BravadoGT:From the "How did we manage so long without it?" Department:

"Wargames 2" scheduled for straight-to-video release later this month....

Save yourself the 2 hours. It's more of a faulty clone than a sequel. The chick is semi-cute in a faux-nerd sort of way, other than that it scores a solid 'meh'.

Ha, green!

Sometimes guilt works. Subby owes me a beer.

"One thing about Hawaii is that we're a small island city, and people care about each other," he said. "We take every missing person seriously.

Unlike the rest of us douchebag cities where we hate each and could care less about missing people, found people..... screw it, just people in general.
