Goodnight you true funnyman.
2008-06-23 12:55:28 AM
Did he die from swallowing small amounts of saliva over a long period of time?
2008-06-23 12:55:28 AM
Only place reporting this is ET, not on his Wiki yet, or any google news results coming up. And that ET site is painful on the eyes.

Crapflood in 3...2...1...

2008-06-23 12:56:44 AM
Well damn.

Anyone see confirmation from anywhere else? Google News has only one article, which cites this one as its source.

Apparently only a couple days ago he was chosen to receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
2008-06-23 12:56:47 AM
Although he had grown very bitter in recent years, he was still funnier than almost anyone around. I will miss him greatly.

I will never, ever get a piece of bread out of a bag without thinking of his "I'm taking the GOOD bread! I'm looking out for Numero UNO!" bit.
2008-06-23 12:59:54 AM

"If God had intended us not to masturbate he would've made our arms shorter. "

"The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done. "

"I have as much authority as the Pope, I just don't have as many people who believe it."

"Inside every cynical person, there is a disappointed idealist"
2008-06-23 1:02:12 AM
fark. Thanks for the laughs.
2008-06-23 1:02:36 AM
Damn, that sucks. A truely funny farker.

Forced Perspective: I got excited until I clicked and it wasn't Bush.

Headline edit makes my comment a complete non sequitir. *shakes fist weakly*.
2008-06-23 1:02:53 AM
Sucks in so many ways. Carlin was about to be awarded the Mark Twain Award at the Kennedy Center Honors in November.

But what TRULY sucks is this means, of course, that the news all day on Monday will be Carlin retrospectives and endless "tributes" from celebs for like the next three days.

People, Time, Us Weekly, and Newsweek get a bye week on politics and we'll relive the 70's on Entertainment tonight. Oh, and all the go-to-commercial bumpers will be "George Carlin 1937-2008" and Incredible Hulk TV Show piano.

/Really REALLY don't want to hear Diane Sawyer's fond memories of watching Carlin on the Ed Sullivan Show.

/RIP Mr. C. Keanu Reeves owes you a career.
2008-06-23 1:02:58 AM

2008-06-23 1:03:54 AM
God damnit. He was always the guy I wanted to meet before he died. RIP and thanks for hours of laughs.
2008-06-23 1:04:03 AM
He was very funny.

I saw him perform about 15 years ago. He launched into a vile anti-American spew at the beginning of the show, which ruined the whole thing for me. I never looked at him the same way.
2008-06-23 1:04:04 AM

Goodbye, Rufus. :(
2008-06-23 1:04:05 AM
Still no word from other news outlets.

2008-06-23 1:04:15 AM
Oh man... I told him those church reforms were a bad idea. :(

DarthBrooks: But what TRULY sucks is this means, of course, that the news all day on Monday will be Carlin retrospectives and endless "tributes" from celebs for like the next three days.

Unfortunately, this. I'd love to see somebody compile a pie chart comparing Monday news coverage of Carlin's death to coverage of Iraq and Zimbabwe put together. It would be very depressing.
