I think the judge is a moron. Very rarely do I consider the use of force appropriate, but in this situation I think it is entirely justified. Maybe not to the woman, but he should have definitely done something to the other man.

What? The other guy wasn't the one in the relationship. Sorry, but if someone deserves to get popped in the jaw, it's her. And if you would never hit a woman, don't go at the guy just because you're mad and need to hit SOMETHING. He's not the one at fault here.

disagree. If my girl was to cheat on me, I don't blame him. He's not cheating, she is. It is her responsibility to be faithful, not his.

But the fact remains you drove 15 miles and confronted this complainant - and I am satisfied you were determined to wreak your revenge. The injuries could have been fatal.

The judge is right. Notwithstanding severe provocation, the fact remains that the injuries could have been fatal and they deserve to be punished. Yet when an asshat inflicts injuries that actually ARE fatal, and without anything like the same provocation, they get a lesser sentence (new window). British judges need some consistency. If they are going to jail people like this cheated on guy (and they should) then they need to throw the book at assholes like this (new window) and not hand out weak sentences based on the "I didn't mean to kill him, I just wanted to really hurt him for no reason" defense.
