(Yahoo)   By 2009, the army will be destroyed, Social Security will be bankrupt and global warming will kill us all. Worse, we'll have a permanent Democratic majority. The good news is you won't have to read stupid predictions of doom anymore   (news.yahoo.com) divider line

Hrm. Maybe it is the election to vote for Republicans. I mean, that will send a wake up call to Democrats, and they'll all be replaceable, if they are that head-in-the-sand.

Meh, I don't think Social Security will be nonexistent by the time I get old enough to retire. I mean, it's basically just a population based pyramid scheme... and population's going up in the next fifty years. So! While Social Security may be dead, something like it will probably be chugging along, and I'll take advantage of that. ;-)

And, global warming? So... we lose cities on the coasts. Meh. What a loss would that be, anyway?

Is it asking too much to simply co-exist with people who have opinions that are different than yours? Making them out to be the spawn of Satan won't do you or anyone else a bit of good.

I don't see how having Democrats in power could possibly be worse than having the Bush administration. Some things have marginally improved after the Dems practically swept the 2006 Congressional elections. Sometimes change is good.

I did a GIS for that picture of the guy in a straightjacket yelling "Libs, libs, libs" but instead this picture came up first. And for some reason I found it even funnier.

Forgive me for being cynical...

But even if Obama wins and we have a democratic congress I do not believe, for even a minute, that things will be changed. I'd like to think they'd try, but I do not think they will actually be successful in reversing the damage done by the republican party.

Somebody needs to go back to writer school and learn what the word "literally" means. For that to be true, all the Republicans would have to have literally climbed into a literal rocket ship and literally went to another literal plant.

What if we setup a fund to ship them all off to the moon? While not technically a planet, it sure as hell would make life a whole lot better down here.

"Bush's approval rating among Democrats is 1%. Among Republicans it's 67%. And among Independents it's 14%"

That's because Republicans don't ever admit when they're disappointed with their elected officials. It's more important to show a "united party" than to fix any problems with it. Disention among Democrats is a lot more common than among Republicans because the views within the Democratic party are more diverse.

AND AWAY WE GO!!! :-D

One great big festering neon distraction,
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied.

Learn to swim.

1. The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster
for the human race. They have greatly increased the life-expectancy of
those of us who live in "advanced" countries, but they have
destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected
human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological
suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have
inflicted severe damage on the natural world. The continued
development of technology will worsen the situation. It will certainly
subject human beings to greater indignities and inflict greater damage
on the natural world, it will probably lead to greater social
disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased
physical suffering even in "advanced" countries.

the only thing I liked was an official language, and that is mostly because it would piss off La Raza and we have too many damn spanish stations.
