(Breitbart.com)   After enough sniveling by LeBron James, Papa John's apologizes for calling him a crybaby. Does ANYONE just play a sport anymore?   (breitbart.com) divider line

As an apology they are offering a special on one of their pizzas... Hrmmm -sounds less like news and more like guerrilla marketing.

In my day, we would play basketball uphill - both ways! In the snow! And my Grandpappy would pull out the belt if I even thought about pizza!

The NBA ceased being a sport a long time ago. High school basketball is the best "bang for your buck" I've found in a while.

No way man, high school ball is too commercialized. I prefer to watch pick-up games at my gym. Those guys are really playing for the love of the game.

This is farking sports! Papa John's couldn't have the courage of their convictions? I could see if this were a race/sex/religion thing, but it's farking sports. What happened to the world? It's sports and they are apologizing? Fans who boo should apologize then. Papa John's is weak. If their Pizza wasn't so good, and if they didn't have a pizzeria less than 400 yards away from my home, I'd never order from there again.

/Sorry, their pizza is the best of all the national chains. fark, it's good, and it's always delivered within 18 minutes

I didn't grow up with the traditional american sports, except for a little bit of baseball... I'm first born american, so soccer was the mainstay in my house

any attempt I've had to get into sports like Basketball or Football has really been quashed by the attitudes of the players off the field.

I expect them to be arrogant on the field... its part of the game. But I can gain no interest or rapport with players when I hear illegal gun charge this, or steroids use that...

Even college sports are the same way. These immature kids get everything handed to them off the field so much so that education is a secondary concern...

I'm not bitter and I know there are some good guys in sports but I just don't watch any of it or even try any more...

Just disappointed I guess...

Watch hockey.

Nobody's perfect and there are a few asshats in any sport, but if you're looking for players just playing and respecting the game, not getting into media bullsh-t, off-ice/court shenanigans and guys that you don't feel dirty rooting for ... that's your sport.

As for me, I love hockey, but I also love a little smakc-talk from time to time, so I'm looking forward to the rest of the Pistons-Magic series...

If you think Papa John's or any national pizza chain's output is good pizza you have never had a decent pizza in your life. Then again, you're in the midwest so I'm aware your choices are limited. This saddens me, that someone will not know good pizza.

Jeez, just chill.

There isn't any good pizza in the northeast from chains, either.

Dang straight. I could live on pizza, and of the chains, Papa John's is the best. If I want decent sit down go out for the night pizza, I don't go to a chain, but if it's 9pm, you've got a movie, and you are too tired to cook, Papa John's it is!

//I happen to like doughy crust and sweeter sauce

CHRIS PAUL!

There is one and only one voice in the NBA for the playing ability of greatness, and it belongs to Point Guard Chris Paul, who has stood alone for greatness for a few years.

I'm not a fan of chain pizza. We are lucky to have some tasty local joints aroung Grand Rapids. However, Jet's Pizza beats all the chains hands down.

As was mentioned earlier...obviously just a marketing ploy because it's cheaper than advertising.

2008-05-05 5:52:21 PM
oh... can any LeBron hater simply paste a quote from him where he was crying?

if someone cheapshotted me, and then the press asks me about it, what am i supposed to say, "oh, its all in good fun"?!

It seems like it was a bad move for a national corporation to try to market pizza by making fun of one of the most famous sports stars in the country. You can't just put your logo on a shirt along with that crap. It might make you a few bucks in the short term in one city, but overall it puts a negative mark on the chain.

/my 2 cents worth
//probably only worth 1 cent though
