Can't we just agree that everyone is harping on useless shiat to detract from the total lack of content in any politician's words?

Do we really expect our politicians to be able to speak without ever making a mistake and saying something that can be taken out of context and blown out of proportion?

With virtually every word being recorded we are attempting to hold our politicians to a standard that is far too high. Yes, many most of them are douche bags that deserve to be called out on the crap they say but it's getting a bit ridiculous.

The bad news is that the reconstituted Solid South under one-party Republican rule has not shaken its old Jim Crow roots.

Right, because North Carolina has a Democratic governor and a Democratic majority in the State Assembly while voting for Republican president and national senators. Oh, and an almost 50-50 split in the House of Representatives. Yep, we're a one-party rule, all right.

I predict this thread will be Freeper-riffic.

Besides, you really shouldn't say racist things about the next President of the United States. I'll bet you'd regret it.

As far as I know, Obama didn't use a racial slur, as did the guy from Kentucky.

True, so i forgive the mispronunciations, juxtapositions, and misidentification that we hear on the Daily Show all the time. But how many times in your daily life do you slip and let out a racially-tinged quip?

I don't think with many of them it's conscious racism, they're just old white men.

When a Republican says something stupid, he's proving all Republicans are racist

Since when does 'stupid' mean 'blatantly racist'?

The words 'macaca' and 'boy' aren't a result of poor speechifying. It's speaking quite well, but in a way that reveals something about the speaker.

liberalish: I don't think with many of them it's conscious racism, they're just old white men.

And I am talking about many on both sides of the aisle, but I think the liberal worldview does lend itself to (here you go conservatives) less tolerance of slips that can be clearly understood to show an antiquated racial viewpoint.

Here's an example of old white man casual racism:

O'REILLY: That's right. That's right. There wasn't one person in Sylvia's who was screaming, "M-Fer, I want more iced tea."

WILLIAMS: Please --

O'REILLY: You know, I mean, everybody was -- it was like going into an Italian restaurant in an all-white suburb in the sense of people were sitting there, and they were ordering and having fun. And there wasn't any kind of craziness at all.

Just to drive home how retarded this is, let's not forget Bill Clinton catching crap for playing the race card re: Obama's win in South Carolina.

Farkin' ridiculous.

The whole country seems to be made up of thin-skinned nancy boys who need their widdle feewings stroked on a daily basis or the go all "nukular". Between them and the "professional victims", it's getting pretty hard to wade through the rising bullshiat.

Like the old Chevy Chase / Richard Pryor SNL sketch... there is NO WAY they would allow that sketch to air now. And the whole point of it IS racism. But God forbid that we actually have a discussion on any issue, especially in a light-hearted way. That would get in the way of the victimology.

If we can't even discuss anything, we're never going to get to the problem-solving portion of the debate. People need to move the fark out of Nerfworld and quit being such a bunch of pansies.

I almost agree with you. But I don't think we are far enough along the road to have a light hearted discussion at a national level, sure it could be funny, but I don't think it would be very productive. I think we need a serious discussion about race, with honesty about how people really feel any why.

It's all stupid, silly shiat.

People are tired, people are losing their homes, their jobs are being shipped overseas, they are one major health problem away from losing everything, and the public doesn't really give two shiats about these verbal gaffs from either side of the aisle. We want to know that tomorrow, our job is going to still be here in the country, that we can feed our family, and that if we get sick, we don't have to lose everything we have worked for to some goddamned insurance company who posts quarterly record-setting profits by denying service to their customers.

This is nothing more than media outlets sniping at each other and looking for something, anything to fill the 23.5 hours of the day that are not newsworthy.

Oh, and I don't own any firearms. I just support the NRA and ACLU for the same reason. It would just be nice to have one group devoted to protecting all of our constitutional rights so I don't have to send two membership dues.

In short, no God nor guns for me, but I respect your right to either or both. Whatever floats your boat and doesn't sink mine.

Being the youngest candidate running for the Presidency this time around, the use of 'boy' seems quite fitting to use.

That and the fact that he's black.

But the truly offensive and, yes, "elitist," statement came from Davis when he said: "I'm going to tell you something. That boy's finger does not need to be on the button."

No, no. Davis has actually gone peacenik and wants to dismantle our nuke program. That's the ticket.
