Its McCain time again isn't it? I mean under the Fairness Doctrine each one gets to be stupid equally.

FTFA: The campaign is a long one, which would be terrific if the politicians pundits used the time to debate the huge issues that make this a vitally important election. Instead, we are forced to listen to small-minded bickering between candidates talking heads like me who are so frazzled they've gone from articulate expression to absurd sputterance.

If you think jumping on stupid comments is a waste of time, stop doing it.

At least it makes it interesting.

I'd put my money on McCain having another "senior moment." But everything Hillary's said for the past month has been ridiculous.

Can I double down?

It doesn't matter what they say, it matters how people spin it. If what people said actually mattered, the primary would be over and Hillary would be out.

Hillary says (and does) far more "stupid" things than either candidate, but doesn't get quite the coverage she deserves (excluding the sniper fire "incident"). I'd say Hillary's comments are going to be spun a little harder than they have. Obama seems to have taken off the gloves when he referred to her as Annie Oakley.

And I think he hit McCain with the gloves when he tossed them. He's on live now. He just said of McCain, "If I had to carry the banner of eight years of failure by the Bush Administration, I'd be looking for something else to be talking about, too."

POW!

I'd like to see the most recent picture of Hillary on a Duck Blind.

Each party is supposed to be stupid equally, which means that until the primaries are settled on the Dem side McCain is supposed to be twice as stupid as Clinton or Obama individually. He's trying, but not quite keeping up.

I don't know, but I know who wrote yet another dumb-as-fark article; Bob Franken.

Notice the question is not about which party is going to win.

Cause the cons have screwed up big time AGAIN (just ask Hoover, Eisenhower(to a lesser extent), Nixon, daddy shrub, baby shrub)

To be fair to him, the media's not really giving him the spotlight he needs to let the stupid flow.

My money is on Hilary. McCain doesn't really have to do much right now. As soon as the democratic nominee is picked then my money is on him... Unless Hilary is the nominee.

I can't quite shake the feeling that Hilary is going to be the nominee.

No, the ongoing question is who the media will make out as having made a stupid comment. The candidates can make stupid comments all they want and, if the media doesn't make a big deal out of it, it won't be a big deal.

Often these things get the first big roll form bloggers. Once the blogs are loaded with it the Media pretty much has to cover the story or be left in the dust.

Heh. I have to admit, that was a hilarious comment.

I wonder...if you could get enough fake blogs to run a story, even if it wasn't true, how long until the real media would pick up on it & run with it as if it were true?

Let me guess. McCain will forget who we are fighting with for the 900th time, but the media will focus on something Obama said, which is true.

My money is on Gravel. We haven't seen anything from him in about a month (helter skelter video). He has to stay out there if he wants to win the LP nom.

I actually really liked the article.

I think this 24 hour cable news coverage has basically turned the modern political arena into Britney watch 2008.

Meanwhile me and joe six pack get drunk, hating Hillary, fearing that Obama may be too much young (non-voter) hype, and dreading that McCain could easily win out with the old person vote if Hillary pulls the upset.

/someone needs to kick her ass outta there already and put the spot light back on the republicans.
//Man I wish the candidates would stop acting like they're normal people... were not buying it.

Ah, but Ron Paul is technically still in the GOP race - and he's been slacking on contributing his share of stupid.

The alternate theory is that if one party hogs up too much of the stupid, the other party is obliged to provide an equalizing amount of crazy.

My money is on Obama, that man does horrible when he doesn't have 20,000 people in front of him.

Is it still considered a stupid comment if the stupid part involves allowing yourself to talk intelligently thus making you sound like a total nerd?

Or, to put it another way. When will the press make a major deal the next time someone says something a bit clumsily but is esentially true. Hey, gotta keep those ratings up.

Obama predicted this madness weeks ago (new window) during his speech on the Rev Wright issue.

I wish Obama would call out the media and his opponents over this blatant tactic of distraction.

Again, Obama's speech on race was so great because he said it all:

We can play Rev. Wright's sermons on every channel, every day and talk about them from now until the election, and make the only question in this campaign whether or not the American people think that I somehow believe or sympathize with his most offensive words.

We can pounce on some gaffe by a Hillary supporter as evidence that she's playing the race card, or we can speculate on whether white men will all flock to John McCain in the general election regardless of his policies.

We can do that.

But if we do, I can tell you that in the next election, we'll be talking about some other distraction. And then another one. And then another one. And nothing will change.

That is one option. Or, at this moment, in this election, we can come together and say, "Not this time."

McCain's spouse hasn't really gotten a lot of ink yet, has she?

Are they saving her for after the primaries? Because if not, the pot still looks light to me, she needs to ante up.
