Well, presumably The Reverend Jeremiah Wright will deliver a speech about little puppies and peace and rainbows and loving these United States of America and then everything will be OK about all that stuff, and we can all move forward, is my read on it.

Will Alicia Keys be there too?

The man is allowed to believe as he believes. I don't think he's completely wrong in his political beliefs either, though I strongly disagree with some of them. Despite all that, this clearly isn't a smart move.

Oh, and I love the stuff about Israel on the bottom of the page. Isn't it great that US presidents have to pledge allegiance to two countries?

Just so any drooling jackasses haven't figured it out:

Wright != Obama

that said, why don't you look at Wright's background beyond the 20 seconds of soundbites you know of him before jumping up and down and throwing your shiat at passerby.

This. The man was a marine and served his country honorably. If he wants to damn it, so be it.

Wright is a rabble-rousing snake-oil peddler. He's cut from the same mold as Falwell. Feeding on people's insecurities, painting them as victims, and of course profiting handsomely from it.

Very True. But more than that, I got more of an idea of what he may have been working toward in that ridiculously misguided sermon. There are several stages to sermons...that part was taken from the part that works its way toward folly and damnation...then in the next part, he reconciles to salvation. Admittedly, I have not heard the salvation portion of that speech, but I would like to pose that to anyone reading this: Have you ever heard a sermon where a reverend says:

"WE ARE DAMNED!! WE ARE HORRIBLE!!! NOW, Please put your money in the basket and leave...sermon is over."

It just doesn't happen. I am not saying he was in the right...he most definitely offended me (and I am farkING HARD to offend). But it is worth getting a more sufficient view of what he was trying to say instead of just condemning him.

If he wants to damn it, so be it.

...although I disagree with that statement.

Damning something outright is not nearly as helpful as working toward a solution, which I think is probably what most of us would want.

I agree, but he was speaking in the biblical sense (I think), and even if he wasn't, it his right to say it. I don't have to agree with it, but it does not qualify as "hate speech"

wait, wright is black?

That's a disaster waiting to happen. The media and Clinton/McCain will pick his words apart with glee. And Fox is probably already soiling itself over the possibilities.

Wright is teaching black children in his church to hate on whitey, plain and simple. He is no different than the fearful white preachers who allowed the KKK to recruit in their churches for many years after the civil war.

I'm not saying that Wright is a bad man, just a very confused one. I can accept the idea that his misguided beliefs are simply the thoughts of an angry old black man who saw a lot of unfair crap in his day. He's old enough to have seen some struggles. But he needs be told in a clear and stern voice that it is time to wake up and smell the roses, and he should not receive any honors for his obsolete hatred.

/Whites are even willing to elect a black President now, cut us some slack!
//End the hate! Racism hatred can only die if ALL races allow it to!

So, like, you can prove that, right?

2008-04-11 11:30:50 PM
Can Jeremiah Wright prove that there was an evil conspiracy by an evil, white-controlled government, to exterminate the black man?

Because I'm pretty sure that the globally accepted explanation for AIDS in America these days; is that a gay white Frenchman first spread it in San Francisco's bath houses, where it was first known as "Gay Cancer," or later "Gay Related Immune Deficiency."

I can't prove that theory to be correct, being a simple white guy from New Jersey; but until I hear proof otherwise, I will accept it over the idea that evil straight white people gave gay white people a deadly immune disorder to kill straight blacks.

so, based on one insane comment, he is teaching black children to hate whitey? wow, great logic there.

Good grief, do you people realize how completely stupid you sound trying to explain away Wright? I mean honestly, you wanted Trent Lott nailed to a cross for something he said he was sorry for over and over again but Wright makes racist statements and anti-American rhetoric and you'll make every excuse for him because to do otherwise would reflect badly on your precious Obama.

Rev Wright is a racist, he's an American hater, he spews lies and propaganda, and Barrack Obama is a close personal friend of his. Accept it.

This black Muslim girl said that to me(black also) that whites created AIDS
I asked why would one race use a disease to kill another race knowing eventually it will get back to them
/now if she would have said sickle cell instead of AIDS I would have been dumbfounded

Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm expecting. He's going to give a speech about how much better America is today than it was when he was younger, and everyone can feel good about our progress and stuff.

While I think your message is good, I despair that you will be unable to personally deliver it to as many people who need to hear it, especially if you try to do it one by one.

Bad subby, headline it makes it look like it's the national NAACP, but it's just the Detroit branch. Local branches can do whatever they want and it doesn't necessarily reflect on the national group. My local NAACP chapter is run by a straight-laced, Republican, ex-Marine, Eagle Scout, McCain supporter. It would make no more sense to act like my local branch is representative of the whole organization than it does to act like the Detroit branch is representative of the whole organization.

In any case, I'm white and wasn't the least bit bothered by Wright's comments, dude is a product of his era. It's just that white people don't normally get a window into that part of American society.

I just email the NAACP regarding Rev. Wright
Why in the hell would you invite him to one of your events ?
We get this close to actually having a black president then you go pull this shiat .
Do you not want Obama to win?
If Obama won do you along with Al and Jesse fell somehow your power over blacks will be gone?

I can't wait for the Boondocks to make fun of Jeremiah Wright in an episode. It'll be an uproar.

The hubbub over Wright is just. . . It's beyond farsical. The man didn't even say anything that controversial, and he said one thing that was kind of crazy. He served America as a Marine and was involved in the Civil Rights movement from the early days. Martin Luther King Jr. said things very similar to what Wright said (except for the AIDS thing, obviously) and he is not thought badly of.

Seriously, if you think what Wright said was out of line, you need to farking wake up to the realities of America and what a lot of black people, especially those his age or older, have been through.

Very few people are completely "wrong". He is a racist, black supremacist. Despite Fark's pleaing, I would never vote for Paul because he has too many ties to Nazis.

Either he is a Nazi (and then fark you) or he has no shame and will take money from anyone, even Nazis (again fark you).

As a white male, why would I vote for a guy who may hate me simply because I am white? He hasn't addressed this properly yet. I like(d) Obama but if he doesn't convince me that he isn't a petty racist asshole, I retort with, you guessed it, "fark you"

I think you are right. The Democrat Party has hurt the progress of the black community for the sake of cheap votes and money. Jessie and Al are two of the heads of this horrible movement. They know that if our country reached a state of true racial equality, their meal ticket would be over. The Democrat (you can be called Democratic after you remove the Super Delegates) Party would lose many votes by going for true equality so they don't.

Obama never seemed to buy into that shiat. Instead of a "black" candidate, he was a candidate who happened to be black. But this Wright thing is disheartening and potentially a fatal blow.

It's hard for you to accept that this this black church is brimming over with racism and that Obama's closer personal friend is a racist and an anti-American zealot who lies and spreads propaganda, unless of course you believe the tripe about AIDS being created to kill Africans.

What you need to accept is that Rev Wright is a racist, an anti-Semite, hates America, and that Barrack Obama considers him a closer personal friend. I'm sorry if facts get in the way of your little Obama fantasy, but you'll get over it.

Yes, its another round of stating the fact that Rev Wright is a racist, anti-Semite, his church honors people like Farrakhan, he spews lies and anti-American propaganda, and he's a close personal friend of Barrack Obama.

I don't know about Obama's other friends, but I do know that it's upsetting you terribly to hear the facts about Rev Wright and I'm terribly sorry if it's inconvenient for you that one of Obama's closest personal friends and mentors is a racist, an anti-Semite, an America hater, tells lies, and spreads propaganda.

I don't think I would even have to watch that full Reverend Wright sermon to know that every charge of racism made against him is full of shiat, or at least overblown. Something really smells about the whole thing.

In any case, if having a racist preacher disqualified one from being president, I most likely would not be able to vote for anybody.

Wright racist? He is one of a 12% minority, in a country of bigots and capitalist slavers, keeping the working poor captive at unsustainibly low existence levels. Just because the republic is so farked up you gonna allow a light brown man into the meat
grinder, daring him to fix it. You know what, Bama needs all the help he can get and the white mans Jesus ain't gettin er done. So suck on it whitey.
