Welcome to Farktography!

This Week's Theme: "Feel the Heat"

Description
: Hazes, flames, furnaces and things that get, or are, anything from hot to downright scorching. Difficulty: No people.

We ask that before submitting your photos you read and adhere to the following submission rules, including but not limited to the following:

- Submissions must be photographs; screen captures do not count as photographs.
- You must be the original photographer of your entry. Do not submit anyone else's photography as your own.
- You are only allowed to enter a photograph once. Do not submit the same photo to another contest later.
- You may enter 3 photos in each contest as long as each photo is of a different composition.
- Please post each photo separately so they can be voted for individually.

Ideally, your photograph should be presented as taken, with as little alteration as possible either digitally in-camera or in your image editor during post-processing. No selectively applied digital effects! No removal or addition of image elements, no spot treatments, and no HDR images, please.

With few exceptions (red-eye removal, sensor or scan dust removal), modifications to the original photograph must be made evenly across the image.
See the rules for more information on acceptable modifications, or check in at the Farktography Forums.

Legal: All photographers submitting photos to this contest are the legal copyright holders for the photos submitted and the photos are not to be considered free for any other use without written consent from the submitting photographers.

To have your photo website listed on the Farktography home page, please send your Fark username and url to admin(at)farktography.net and we'll get you up forthwith. (also, indicate if you're willing to share your photographs for use as source images in PhotoShop contests)

- Drop by the Farktography Forum (for chatting, critique, techtalk and so on)

- Image hosting sites can be found here.

- Stats can be found here.

Sadly, too many stupid tourists ignore this sign and truly "feel the heat" by stepping into a 500-degree steam vent. At those temperatures you can get 3rd degree burns in about 5 seconds.

Wow - what a subject. I don't know if you heard the story out of Denver, CO. last week about a man that crawled out of a burning vehicle after tumbling down 250ft. and is still living (maybe some Total Farkers saw people making fun of his name - "Timber Dick"), but my friend and I were first on scene and saw the whole thing happen. Because my friend had a fire extinguisher in his truck he was able to put out the flames that had engulfed him after crawling out of the minivan. Once the flames were put out and we got him stable with the help of some other great people that stopped, I took some pictures of his car (NOT of him). I'll only submit this one, but I am serious when I ask all of you that read this post: please go and get a fire extinguisher for your car or truck. If my friend would not have had one we would have watched a man die because he was covered in gasoline and we never would have been able to put him out with just coats and/or sweaters. They don't cost more than $15, and hopefully you will just throw it in the trunk or behind your seat and forget about it, but please take the extra step and buy one for your automobile. You just might be able to save a life like he did.

Article.

Tasty, tasty burn.

My Chili Recipe

2 lbs stew beef cubed
5 red peppers
8-10 assorted mild, medium, hot peppers
(jalapeno, habanero, scotch bonnet, serrano)
whatever's available at the grocer's this week.
One onion
Tabasco to taste
Chili powder
Salt
Black Pepper
Garlic

Put all ingredients in a 10" cast iron dutch oven. Place in oven on bake at 350F for 2 hours. Enjoy.

It's not the hottest I've ever had but it's got enough heat that it makes beer taste really, really good.
