The "re-launch" one shot with the mustang was friggin AWESOME.

Anyone who thinks it fell short of the original series has rose-tinted memories of the original series.

I think they should use the Bionic Woman chick in this. She and KITT can share an emotion.

2008-03-31 2:40:21 PM
I thought it was good. It was the best way to relaunch it as well. I will watch.

2008-03-31 3:13:53 PM
The relaunch started out great, what with the surfing lesbians theme. They should run with that.

And they should change the title to "The Surfing Lesbians Show".

As a huge fan of the original, that pilot was pure...

I didn't think the reboot of Mission Impossible was that bad. Then again, I was also busy in my spare time trying to shoot down Biodreads with my Captain Power jet, so I might not have been the right 10 year old to ask about MI's writing.

I think you're on to something there. "The Surfing Lesbian Show, co-starring some car!"

I think I read earlier that the series green light depended on the success of the pilot 'movie'. I very much agree with Unlikley. It was much better than I was expecting.

You mean the hour and forty-five minutes of Ford commercials with fifteen minutes of action thrown in? Yeah, it was awesome.

2008-03-31 3:20:31 PM
While it strayed a fair bit from the old "Knight Rider", I'd have never watched a straight rehash of the old show, so that's not automatically a bad thing.

The premiere looked like it had potential. I watched parts of it with my 6-year-old son, who enjoyed the car chases and crashes as much as you'd expect. It'd be nice to have a show like this on the networks that he and I can watch together; "Lost" and "House M.D." aren't exactly kiddie fare.

2008-03-31 3:22:42 PM
They should greenlight this based solely on the Hoff coming in and making melodramatic speeches at the end of every episode.

How awesome would that be?

Came here to say this. NBC is keeping Knight Rider, but they canned Journeyman? What. The. Eff. Hell, I'd pick Bionic Woman over this any day of the week.

It's kinda like SciFi keeping Flash and dropping Dresden.

I have to say that aside the close ups on the Ford logos, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. (by a small margin)

It was as cheesy as the original, and some other "good" points, BUT, the actual car model doesn't fit right, it would need to be a sportier machine, with a sharp blade front like the Trans-Am did to help with the slicing through walls and such.

The whole nanotech shield/autorepair is just plain stupid... they should have simply improved the original polymer bond formula... (same taste, half the calories)

We are talking over 20 years later and the tech (gadgets) used aren't even that much better. The car doesn't go faster (well, not enough to see it as an 20 years worth of improvement), etc.

I missed the beginning (about 15 minute's worth) where they show the original KITT dismantled (I was told).

What the heck has Michael been doing for 20 some years?... would he have really let KITT get dismantled?

Fark that, they should do a remake of "Riptide", with Bill Gates as Murray.

This wave of 80's nostalgia (Terminator, Knight Rider on TV and GI Joe/A Team movies)is beyond pathetic. I remember living in the 80's and thinking to myself "This decade has to be the shiattiest in world history, it can only get better". Now all of the worst elements from those years have been synthesized into one big ironic hybrid hipster doofus fashion statement.

'Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia' is the best shiat to come out in years.

Holy crap, I forgot all about that creepy ass robot. Didnt they also have a big pink helicopter?

Sad to say that the two reasons I watched that show were the robot and the helicopter.

You watched it with a six-year old? The new hero of the show was introduced waking up in bed with two women, if I recall. My Dad would have shut off the TV right there and banned the show, no matter how cool the car chases might be (and these were bad).

2008-03-31 3:43:06 PM
I thought the pilot movie was okay. Strong in parts, fairly weak in others. The car's new abilities were pretty cool. The one thing that struck me as odd is that if KITT can drive itself that well, using GPS and satellite imaging to see and properly predict what's coming on the road, why the hell do they need a driver? I mean, I see the need for a human to be in the car, as the car can't enter small spaces and all, but why did the main protagonist need to have a racing background?

To get away from the lesbians, duh.

Or maybe to get to them quickly, I'm not really sure.

Huh? The movie was so successful they announced the ensuing series right after. (This was what, 2 months ago?)

Granted, I'll never watch it... but saying it was 'failed' is a lie.

/Subby can go away.

2008-03-31 4:08:44 PM
Hmm... this new Knight Rider tv show is basically a cross between Knight Rider and the Knight Rider copycat show, Viper (new window). Granted, the Viper didn't have AI controlling the car, but it did have morphing abilities (that was seen in the Knight Rider pilot).

I wasn't too impressed with the show. It will probably end up where the other re-vamped shows (Journeyman, Bionic Woman, etc) ended up...

What I didn't even notice on Ford in the show, nor a Lincoln, Volvo, Mercury, or Land Rover.

baorao: I think they should use the Bionic Woman chick in this. She and KITT can share an emotion.

HA! That's some funny shiat there.

I wanted to like Bionic Woman. I really did. All the elements for me to like it were there, too. But that "actress" just didn't have anything to show. The only emotion she seemed to show was sadness over having superpowers and indestructible limbs. Seriously, how can you whine about something as inherently COOL as that?

But then, she accepted it... and STILL seemed melancholy about it. I started to get worried that they were going to keep her in a constant state of moppy the entire series.

Then, I realized something; That's not script writing. That's her "acting."

I decided to stop watching right around the time NBC decided that enough people decided the same thing as me.

The original series was cheesy, pointless camp. The only value it offers is nostalgia. Since the remake was cheesy, pointless camp, without the nostalgia factor, what about it could possibly be good?

//Bought a few episodes on iTunes. It's charming, but it's no A-Team.

Whoopee they are bringing some show from my youth back in hopes of catching me in a mid life crisis or desperately trying to hold on to my youth...anyone seriously waiting for this who is over 30 should shoot themselves. Grow the fark up losers

Why bother, anyone drooling over this has a wall full of Transformer toys and shiat.

Yeah, that pilot was garbage. It was just an long commercial for FORD automotive. Plus the main chick was a butterface. I know the old show was cheesy but at least the car was cool. I see Mustangs every day and I'm not impressed.

/bring back Journeyman
//hell, bring back Quantum Leap while yer in yer bringy-backy mood
