I am beginning to think she's talked herself into a corner here. At this point I don't know if she can concede without looking bad. Perhaps at this point she doesn't really think she can win, but thinks conceding will hurt her reputation more than losing?

when they pry it from their cold, dead hands.

This is expected to happen before July 1st.
I'm looking forward to the next "pry job" in 2012, when the netroots pry the Democratic monination for Senate out of her wrinkly meathooks.

Dismissing concerns raised by Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean that a prolonged contest would demoralize the party base, Clinton pointed to a recent surge in voter registration and projected turnout in Pennsylvania. Democratic registration went up by 4 percent in the state this year, while it declined 1 percent among Republicans.

What Hillary fails to realize is that all those 'new' democrats are registering JUST to vote against her.

Doesn't matter, they'll still forget to vote in November regardless of who wins. Excuses include: "Dude, that shiat is chronic", "I had to study for my exam", "There was this chick/dude and she/he was looking at me...", "everyone else is voting, so I figured I would sleep late", "Oh wow, that was today?!?" and "my mom voted the way I would have, so I didn't bother"

I'm not so sure about that. After our legislature voted themselves that pay raise in the dead of night, the locals have been extremely paranoid and distrustful of elected officals. Election day (any election day, of any sort) has taken on new significance in this state.

I think she and Bill have been doing the political equivalent of Enron - taking loans/favors based on expected future value. I suspect that Lincoln's bedroom in the Whitehouse was pretty well booked from 2009 on with Clinton supporters. I don't think she can quit without causing serious discontent from the various interested parties who have invested in her.

In addition if she quits running she will have to stop taking money in from donors to her campaign and that would cost her personally since she still has outstanding debts.

Those are very interesting observations. But don't forget that Hillary really does believe that she's going to win. Facts don't seem to matter to her, nor does the delegate count - she really does seem to believe that she's already won the nomination and that all of this is merely a formality.

I dunno. I tend to not put so much into this stuff, since they have to say this publicly in order to keep donations coming. Look at John Edwards - he said he was going all the way the day before he dropped out, IIRC.

Frankly I don't think she is running on all cylinders. I think she is probably on some prescription drug cocktail that messes with her ability to discern reality. This isn't a snark. I know a few people taking assorted seratonin uptake inhibitors that talk the same way. McCain has the same odd speech patterns. So does my ex boss who kept getting her meds messed up.

There is also the very real possibility that Hillary has been brainwashed by the cult she belongs too. I am sure The Family has made it clear to her that Jesus wants her to win.

All that said if her masters told her she could quit running I am sure she would. I think at this point that she is literally running for her life - not to be POTUS.

She is a tragic figure and her life story would make a fabulous opera.

I really hope so. We need some actual voter interest in a major bad way or this crap will only get worse on each election.

Well yes, but there's a difference between saying you are going all the way and dropping out with over 40 primaries yet to go and saying you are going all the way and dropping out with only a few left to go. She has been going on for weeks now about how this is going to the convention, how super delegates will pick the winner, how pledged delegates can switch their vote, etc.

I just don't see a graceful out for her that doesn't look like she got strong armed into conceding and allowing herself to be strong armed at this point would completely fark up her "fighter" image. It would make her look weak. The other option where she takes a cookie like majority leader instead wouldn't be good for her image either because she would still be seen as backing down from a fight. I think her own base might eat her alive if she tried it.

I think she does have an out - the NY governorship. I don't know how that might play out, but she can ride off into the sunset as the savior of NY if she wants to.

Well unless they actually chuck Patterson out of office it would be dicey for her I think. She's already taken so much heat for beating up on a black guy, how is she going to look if she goes after the job of a blind black guy?

That aside, I don't know if New Yorkers would be keen to have her as governor, after all Spitzer was one of her supporters. Plus the governor role would probably serve to showcase any flaws in her thinking in a way being a Senator doesn't and might hurt her in the long run if she is thinking of a 2012 bid.

Hillary Clinton is a fighter just like Bill is, and that attitude really confuses most Dems. Most Dems are terrified they are going to offend someone or someone is going to be left out.

As it appears that Obama will take the nom anyway, Hillary Clinton will just go back to the Senate and run again in 2012 against McCain. She doesn't care about being a governor. She wants the big office on Penn Ave.

So what is it? Is Obama a fighter like HillBill because he did not denounce and reject his pastor outright, or is he as you put it "most Dems. Most Dems are terrified they are going to offend someone or someone is going to be left out."

Make up your mind. You're starting to sound as daft as McCain

Firs let me say I don't drive.

But I don't understand why you people who do drive don't buy some gasoline canisters and fill them up, then at least you can save a little cash because the price is bound to go up.

Instead of going to the station every time you run low, just pour one of your canisters into your tank. I know it won't save you much, but it'll save you some.

"There are millions of reasons to continue this race: people in Pennsylvania, Indiana and North Carolina, and all of the contests yet to come," Clinton told reporters Friday. "This is a very close race and clearly I believe strongly that everyone should have their voices heard and their votes counted."

What a bunch of bullshiat

Indiana and NC are going to Obama, and after that happens, she will continue to say that states she loses are ones that dont matter. And she doesnt farking believe that everyone should have their voices heard...at least not those voices in caucuses and smaller states that she doesnt win. God, what a farkin coont.

phillydrifter: But I don't understand why you people who do drive don't buy some gasoline canisters and fill them up, then at least you can save a little cash because the price is bound to go up.

Because storing gas in containers is hazardous in the best of circumstances. Its no big deal keeping a little bit around but the effort and expense of using enough safe containers to make a difference in your life just isn't worth it. Now if I had installed an underground tank in 2003 and filled it up with gas - that would have been a good investment - but probably not more lucrative than stock in Exxon.

I personally doubt this theory. I could see Hillary joining a religious group to help further her own agenda, but I can't imagine her buying into the religion itself. She's her own religion, her own object of worship, and embracing the possibility of God(s) would also mean she'd have to embrace the possibility that she is not, in fact, the single most important thing in the universe around which all things revolve. I honestly don't think she's capable of that. Her ego is far too bloated to take second place to anyone, up to and including any deities or demigods you care to name.
