I for one think they should be kicked out of the hotel live on television. Make sure everyone in the community knows their faces and names, so there's no jobs and no renting for them.

Because marginalizing people has always been the best way to integrate them back into society as productive, law-abiding people.

I couldn't agree more.

Shame they didn't just rob a bank or jack a car, those lists are less scary.

We've solved this problem in California forever and for eternity with Jessica's Law™.

To effectively deal with evil sex perverts, you just need to forbid them from living within 2,000 feet of a public park or a school. This will either make them homeless, and turn them into harmless Molestin' Hobos, or it will drive them to rural communities, who have state-of-the-art law enforcement technology with resources to match. In fact, most rural communities here have at least three RoboCops dedicated entirely to policing sex offenders.

Yup. If only more people started doing this.

Because you can't give someone life in prison for getting drunk and peeing in public or spanking a female cop on the ass.

If it's 2 dozen hot female teachers who gave a 16 year old the best education he is ever going to get, I say we need to do what we can to help these poor ladies out. And others, kiddy diddlers, male teachers, rapist. Burn em.

Why don't you have a seat right over there....

Definately not there! All the locals will be mad at you.....

How about this boat in the middle of the river?

I don't get it.

We don't keep lists for murderers, for burglars, or for repeat DUI offenders.

Why keep a list for sex offenders -- and for them alone?

After all, murderers might kill someone again. We need to know what they look like and where they live. Burglars? They might burgle someone again! We need to know what they look like and where they live. Repeat DUI offenders? They might drive home drunk one night and kill someone -- we need to know what they look like and where they live.

Why just sex offenders?

soze: Because marginalizing people has always been the best way to integrate them back into society as productive, law-abiding people.

It's good that they have to be registered to raise the awareness of parents in the neighborhood. But there are people out there that find where they live and then get upset about the fact that they live there. There isn't a death penalty for sex crimes and we can't keep them in prison forever. The further you drive them away from Location A, the closer they have to be to Location B. And B doesn't want them any more than A.

It really is a lifetime of punishment as it is.

Employer: Have you ever been convicted of a Felony?
Applicant: Yes.
Employer: Please give the name of the offense and location.
Applicant: Well, I was convicted of indecency with a chil
Employer: OK, We'll be in touch.

NEXT

I don't feel sorry for them, but running them out of every place they are trying to live isn't helping anything either.

This society is becoming even more reprehensible than it was. They served their time. They paid their debt and should be treated as any free citizen should be.

It's almost as if people want them to re-offend. You don't lower crime rates by further marginalizing people.

It's a pity we no longer use manned light houses. Though we'd need a lot of light houses to safely utilize all the sex offenders. I wonder if there's some other place we could put them where they'd be a) useful and b) harmless?

And continuing on that train of thought, ship along every good-looking female in the country, and keep the ones who has teeth like Mr. Ed?

I mean, a man can hardly believe that English and Australian women had the same ancestors at all...

actually even if you break it down to the hardcore ones, they still have a lower recidivism rate then other felons.

Allen. The end.: Do you have a link? I'm not being snarky (I swear!), but I hear such nightmare 'stats' about recidivism.

You can play with statistics and make them say anything. Here are some US Dept of Justice statistics on recidivism. You can say that sex offenders are twice as likely to re-commit the same crime as the next highest percentage (which is rapists at 2.5%) but they're still only 5.3% likely to reoffend. In general, it's more likely that sex offenders will not commit another crime than any other released convict. 43 percent of sex offenders are rearrested for any crime later versus 68 percent of non-sex offenders rearrested.
