Next thing you know, someone will start doing the same thing to common breakfast foods, and possibly even write a children's book about it.

How about have a real Irish style beer instead?
McNally's Extra from Big Rock Brewery would be a good start.

$17.00 a six pack and they claim they are not passing off costs to the consumer... yeah right.

Sooooo... Lemme check...
Is subby referring to beer green in colour leading up to St Pat's,
while the article is about something different?
Did Subby RTFA?

/Cascade's a damn fine beer BTW

Breweries make green beer? I'll be damned. That's a pretty neat idea. Not as neat as digital watches, but still a pretty neat idea.

2008-03-06 1:21:21 PM
costs of the new beer will be absorbed by the company and will not be passed on to consumers.

..low carbohydrate..

..will sell for 17.99 dollars (16.97 US) for a six-pack of 330ml bottles. "

Do not want.

As a Farker does every day at this time, Subby projects his own amazement about something fairly mundane onto the news media and believes it to be theirs.

Relax, Subby. It's just a simple news story. No amazement or flabbergastedness - just a simple little story about green beer. Ssssh, calm down, now. It'll be OK.

The better beer bars around here have largely ditched Guinness because their distributors here are awful to work with. Most of them now have Beamish on draught instead.

Go green with science (and biology)

Yeah, as a beer it was ok - average compared to their other beers. Just the addition of the Spirulina that made it different. I guess they either over-estimated the demand or people freaked out about drinking algae beer because it was still on tap well into April and hasn't appeared back for a couple of years.

I've been making my own beer. Been going pretty well.

I am going to try a stout sometime in the near future. See how that goes. Won't be in time for St. Patty's day though.

As for the article, just drink Sierra Nevada or one of the other brews that does tons of recycling and such and doesn't gouge you on the price if you want to drink "green" beer. Sierra Nevada's whole set-up is pretty sweet.

See here (pops)

2008-03-06 2:30:15 PM
that price isn't to bad for a premium beer over here...you'd usually pay that for a 6 stubbies of Crown Lager and i think thats usually meant to be top notch

If you America people want to have a laugh Budweiser sells over here for at least $20 a six pack

2008-03-06 2:51:08 PM
So obviously, subby didn't RTFA.

Does anyone actually brew green beer? At the bar I worked at, the Bud guy would just bring a syringe full of green food dye with him and inject it into the kegs, right at the little ball thing. It's kind of messy, but it works well and you can make it as light or dark green as you want. They must have used one of those syringes you use to inject yummy cajun stuff into turkey before you fry it.

Mmmmmm. Fried turkey

You've got that all wrong.

I prefer Beamish. Creamy, full mouthfeel, chocolatey, roasty, smooth. I had Murphy's once. Too thin, weird grainy aftertaste.
Guinness is better than Murphy's. Complex, well-balanced mix of toasty malt and hops.

Great black & tan - Beamish over Speckled Hen.

Good beer is not green.

How have you been coping with the global hop shortage?

I know Sam Adams was selling some of their overstock at cost...

No. I'm not.

Raug the Dwarf: I've been making my own beer. Been going pretty well.

What do you make? My best homebrew tends to be between a hoppy pale ale and a mild IPA. Still working on a good stout recipe, one that has dark, roasty grainy goodness with a barely perceptible hop bite.

Everytime you buy a beer, why don't you just give money to some beggar? He'll buy some alcohol and feel good for awhile, which is much better than what happens when you give your money to an Environmental Corporation.

Hop shortage hasn't affected me too much. Gone up a bit, but not too bad. Worth it for the flavour.

My favorite brew is a Red Honey Lager. Start with a "Killians"-type base and add some honey for a nice sweet finish. I just ordered supplies for a Stout too. I'm just looking to pump the ABV up on that one and see just how 'stout' I can get it.
