That's kind of a dirty headline....to me at least.

If I can find a girl who can swallow a whole inhaler, I am going to marry her.

2008-03-03 7:30:30 PM
Also, do not inhale swallows.

2008-03-03 7:30:37 PM

They're talking about the medical pills, not the device itself, submitter.

The biggest jerk at poker game featuring jerks decides to get into a male scrum. It moved all over the house, with him being the most energetic participant. It ended up in the kitchen where his asthma inhaler flew through the air and landed in the cat waterdish. His asthma was caused by his severe allergy to cats.

Har Har Har. His only words were "That's not good."

2008-03-03 7:39:07 PM
Is that anything like the guy that complained that the suppositories didnt work for him? I think his words were, "I could have shoved it up my a$$ for all the good it did me!"

2008-03-03 7:39:27 PM
If you manage to get one lodged in your throat, do you need another one to help you breathe?

2008-03-03 7:39:36 PM
When I first saw Goonies I wanted an inhaler so badly, it looked so cool.

Just in case you guys were wondering.

Yes, "that's not good" also sums up the above story.

/although you must have been waiting for an inhaler story to bust out that anecdote

Did you even read the article. It was not about swallowing inhalers, it was about swallowing inhaler capsules. Maybe you and submittard should go back to the first grade.

You'd be surprised how few times a good inhaler story crops up.

/I'm having a poker game in two weeks. I'm thinking of laying out some very large cat dishes.

I actually take Foradil and not once have I ever considered swallowing the capsules that go in the inhaler. I guess I'm missing out.

lord eddy: I actually take Foradil and not once have I ever considered swallowing the capsules that go in the inhaler. I guess I'm missing out.

Dude you get so HIGH if you swallow the capsule. The FDA is controlled by Big Beer to keep healthy drugs like weed and inhaler pills out of the public's hands.

2008-03-03 7:53:44 PM
I remember having asthma as a kid and getting an Albuterol inhaler that used capsules instead of aerosol. I was about 6 and could handle it just fine.

I never got the urge to swallow one of the capsules. It didn't work as well as the aerosol, but that's another matter.

The drugs mentioned are mostly COPD meds being used by old people. Old people don't like to read directions. They also take a lot of other pills that may look similar to the inhalation capsules. That's the reason for the warning.

I have NEVER swallowed the inhaler.

2008-03-03 8:19:13 PM
Back in the psychedelic Sixties, all sorts of nasal inhalers were on the market which contained methedrine-related compounds.

People would break them open and eat them, and get blasted sky--high.

I believe the formulas have been changed since, but sudafed remained widely available until quite recently.

this is true, I take Advair, and I was talking to an older couple who were both on it. They complained about getting a rash inside their mouth. I asked them if they rinsed out after taking it, like the instructions said.

Got a blank look.

2008-03-03 8:29:28 PM
oh crap

2008-03-03 8:29:41 PM
lord eddy: I actually take Foradil and not once have I ever considered swallowing the capsules that go in the inhaler. I guess I'm missing out.

I used Spiriva for several years m'self. Besides the fact that the capsules don't look very much like pills, AND the face that they're individually blister-packed rather than put in a bottle, AND the fact that the box, the literature, the inhaler, the blister packs and the capsules themselves say "DO NOT INHALE" dozens of times, I also paid a little bit of attention to both my doctor and pharmacist when they said "This is an inhalant; don't swallow the capsules."

So although the headline ain't quite perfect, IMHO someone who didn't pay attention after being told twice personally and dozens more time in writing probably won't get the message if the FDA issues a press release either.

Stanfan114: You ever teabag a tub of Coolwhip?

Remind me never to eat dessert at your house. Or anything else, for that matter.

b) Your too stupid and it is just thinning the herd.

Could the FDA do something useful?

As you can see they are quite different & if you had RTFA, you would have known that. The article is warning people not to swallow the inhaler capsules, but place them in the inhaler device & use as instructed.
