(Wall Street Journal)   Nader can't run for the Green Party this year; they've already selected a less embarrassing candidate with a better chance of winning: Good old Cynthia "I Hate Jews" McKopslapper   (online.wsj.com) divider line

Sooooo...the Greens are officially becoming the US version of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party? I mean, they were well on their way, but tapping Cynthia "Jewbaiter" McCommunist pretty much seals it.

Allegations have been made that McKinney is an anti-Semite, though she herself denies this. Several pundits have accused her of making anti-Semitic statements, although without citing any specific quotations.[49][50] Others have accused her more generally of holding anti-Semitic beliefs[51] and/or running anti-Semitic campaigns for office.[52][53] Controversy erupted when one of her supporters, a member of the New Black Panther Party, said, "Why do you think she lost? You wanna know what led to the loss? Israel. The Zionists. You. Put on your yarmulke and celebrate."[54] McKinney responded that she opposes anti-Semitism. She added: "The people who made those remarks were not associated with my campaign in any formal way, and I want to make clear from this hour that any informal ties between me and my campaign and anyone holding or espousing such views are cut and renounced." She also said: "Anyone who makes blanket denunciations of Jews or 'the Jew' is certainly not a supporter of mine, not a staff member, not a consultant to, nor is welcome to be a volunteer in my campaign."

Oh, well, thankfully she's just radically left, anti-capitalist, race baiting, reactionary, and batshiat crazy, but she's NOT anti-semetic. I see now that her candidacy will be giving the Green Party the legitimacy that Nader just couldn't bring to the table.

Why can't the Green Party like, act real'n'sh*t? Nobody wants to vote for that crazy b*tch, either.

Pure bullshiat. The Green Party hasn't decided on its presidential candidate yet. We've been having caucuses and primaries leading up to the convention in July.

Doggie McNugget: As nuts as she is, you can't really blame her too much for what her supports think.

Unless, of course, she courts said supporters as her base...

Prominent on that list include:

Hani Y. Awadallah - president, Arab American Civic Organization, New Jersey.

Jesse Aweida - co-founder, American Task Force on Palestine.

Belal Dalati - a vice president of Arab-American Broadcasting Co. (Orange County Register, February 19, 2002) associated with the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Hasan Elkhatib -member, board of directors, American Islamic Educational Foundation (MetroWest Jewish News, October 10, 1996)

Yaser Elmenshawy - chairman, Islamic Council of New Jersey.

Rafeeq Jaber - president, Islamic Association for Palestine, a Hamas offshoot.

Oussama Jammal - president, Bridgeview Mosque.

Samer Khalaf - chairman, American-Arab Anti Discrimination Committee's Political Outreach Committee in New Jersey.

Faroque Khan - president, Islamic Center of Long Island, also connected to the American Muslim Alliance and Islamic Society of North America.

Mahmoud A Nimer - member, board of directors, Islamic Academy of Florida, Tampa (an Islamic school established by Sami al-Arian; al-Arian's indictment indicates the school was used as a base of support for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad).

Ayman Osman - member, board of directors, Islamic Academy of Florida, Tampa; employer of Hatem Fariz, arrested on terrorism charges and charged with being a member of Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Talat Othman - former chairman of the Islamic Free Market Institute; secretary/treasurer of the American Task Force on Palestine.

Khalid Qazi - former president, American Muslim Council of western New York State.

Hareth Raddawi - member, board of directors, American-Arab Anti Discrimination Committee, Chicago.

Allam Reheem - former member, board of directors, Islamic Academy of Florida, Tampa.

Talal Sunbulli - former chairman, Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago.

James Zogby - president, Arab American Institute.

SquirrelsOfDoom: "McKinney alienated Jews by making what they allege were anti-Semitic remarks, taking donations from Arab organizations and showing support for Palestinians during a time of heightened homicide bombings by Palestinian terrorists in Israel."

Heaven forbid we consider the difference between Palestinians and Palestinian terrorists. They're all murderers, right?

And our support for Israel should be unilateral and unwavering regardless of their human rights violations, yes?

Thanks for the the Fox News "fair & balanced" look at a marginal candidate.

Has she voted to condemn other speeches made in the US? No? This is called Lying through omission.

It cut off the bottom of my post.

Interesting that this Peter Swartz is not listed by Cornell, and indeed its next to impossible to prove that this person even exists.

Why do the third parties that espouse halfway sane ideals (Libertarian, Green) always attract the most raving lunatics in practice?

Jubeebee: Why do the third parties that espouse halfway sane ideals (Libertarian, Green) always attract the most raving lunatics in practice?

Because building a party is hard, menial, boring and thankless work. People think just because you want a new team to play, they can just jump right into the game. There's a helluvalot more to it than just trying to get some people together who want to vote for Wiggum or whoever.

Jubeebee: Why do the third parties that espouse halfway sane ideals (Libertarian, Green) always attract the most raving lunatics in practice?

I suppose negative attention is still attention. If the Green Party were smart, they would win local/county/state positions in a place like Vermont and let their progress speak for themselves. Regional success first, then national.

2008-02-26 3:28:07 PM
(^ cont'd) So you half to start by using the most committed - some of whom should be - as they are the only ones willing to put in the long hours. Then, as the party grows in fits and starts, the new blood wants their say too. It's like herding cats just to get to the place where most people think it all starts: a name on a ballot.

Karma Curmudgeon

That makes sense. The system does seem to favor the two established parties if only because of preexisting organization.

Unright

I think the Greens have a few seats in the House. If they kept focusing on that, you're right, they might gain some traction in places like New England and the Northwest.

I don't think I'll be seeing them in the Midwest any time soon though.

The Progressive Party
(^) would like a word with you. Even if you were right, the media would still ignore their success and they wouldn't receive the matching funds that the entrenched parties get today.

Media involvement has changed the game forever.

Seriously, Nader needs his head examined.

2008-02-26 5:44:58 PM
Nader, on "Meet the Press" simply farted in church (or should I say passed gas in synagogue) by mentioning the unmentionable: that the U.S. foreign policy vis a vis Israel is at odds with the interests of America.

Beyond that he's a lost cause and I wish he'd go away, although by now he won't draw any significant votes.

Perhaps his value, if any, will be to say the un-sayable, and that is ANYthing that brings to light the damage that our unyielding support for Israel does to us.

You can read all about it in the book I constantly reference and am attacked by doing so by people who haven't or refuse to read it.

so if you accept Arab donations you're anti-semitic?
if you sympathize with the Palestinian people you're anti-semitic?

Is that why they keep emphasizing Barack HUSSEIN Ombama?

I think you guys are missing the most important thing about McKinney...her diligent search for the truth about Tupac.

It is vitally important we all know the troof about Tupac. Sure, the Tupac Amaru Shakur Records Collection Act of 2005 fell through, but once she's president, we'll all find out what really happened...and why.

If there is a strong current of antisemitism in the 9/11 Truth movement I haven't seen it. Citations please? (Discounting the "Jews didn't show up for work at the Twin Towers because of an IM" stuff.)

While the Mossad certainly was monitoring the hijackers no credible truther source lays claim to an Israeli involvement in the planning and or execution of the attack that I've seen.

Oh bullshiat. The parties we have today weren't built by anyone alive today, let alone with hard, menial, boring and thankless work. There's thousands of people doing the same kind of goddamn work every single day canvassing and at the local level. They have about as much chance of building a national party that gets on the ballot on all 50 states as I do of becoming president. We vote Dem and Rep because it's what we were given by those before us - as the rules are written it's virtually impossible to get another choice on the ballot that has even the illusion of a chance.
