Old news. I've seen these things all over the place before. They look like real money on the ends from a short distance, so you see one on the street and run to grab it, but NO! All you get is some damn preachin'. They should find the asshats who do this and kick them in the groin.
2002-10-30 04:12:42 PM
And like all things christian: worth absolutely nothing.
2002-10-30 04:13:02 PM
As if someone who's just been made a fool of is going to be receptive to the fooler's message. Right.
2002-10-30 04:14:06 PM
jeez, i hate these things. even worse than regular tracts.
2002-10-30 04:16:57 PM
Hm. Anybody seen Bevets lately?
2002-10-30 04:17:40 PM
"I have no idea who is doing this," Muehlner said. "I assume it is the work of religious zealots who do not have the sense to realize how counterproductive this vandalism is."

You don't say...
2002-10-30 04:18:07 PM
farkin churchies piss me off. They should press charges for vandalism and counterfeiting. Don't know who it is?? Just fine every church in the area.
2002-10-30 04:18:21 PM
Pretty sad when Jebus needs to resort to having dumb people do trickery to 'save' them. I cannot imagine ANY person being positively affected by this. "Vadalism" the story says. I would add "littering".
2002-10-30 04:18:40 PM

NOW how the hell am I gonna pay my way to heaven.
2002-10-30 04:20:19 PM
this ticks me off, being a Christian this stuff gives us a bad name.

just stupid to bring bad press. with the freedom of speach here, no rules need to be broken to preach the Gospel.

i can do it here if i want :)

now, in other countries it isn't so legal yet the Gospel is to be preached.

these Christians are wrong, coming from a Christian.....i am upset when this *#&%# happens.

btw, goodcop, Salvation is found in Christianity.....THAT is of high value.
2002-10-30 04:21:01 PM
Dust them all for prints, catch the criminal, throw them in a dark, damp cell for a long, long time.
Who cares about something that you can crumple up in 1 second and throw away? Would they rather have the preacher in front of the library preaching every day (which is probably legal), or this?

2002-10-30 04:22:32 PM
I understand that when local Afghans finally started turning on their Taliban oppressors, US forces would find these Taliban soldiers, messily dead, with bills crammed up their noses. Drop a few of these pictures around the library and I bet the problem will end reeeel quick.
2002-10-30 04:22:34 PM
goddamn jesus freaks
2002-10-30 04:24:18 PM
That Christ fellow has always been a trouble maker.
2002-10-30 04:24:18 PM
Mad Wet squirrel: Two words--Nazi gold.

Seriously though, this worked on me. I was living a life of sin and debauchery until I simply say a picture of Jesus. Like magic it instantly turned me into a Chrisitan. Well, for about twenty minutes, then I saw this box of cereal and now I'm trying to keep all the kids away from me lucky charms..

Still, you got to wonder if they really think this works. Surely it would only be effective with the weak-minded and easily led, and what religion wants weak-minded, easily led members?!
Oh, wait..
2002-10-30 04:24:28 PM
I'm surprised the religious fogies haven't figured out that people aren't going to be converted by stupid tricks. At best the person will get a good laugh, at worst they'll be perturbed and annoyed.
2002-10-30 04:26:21 PM
Had these been condoms and the library in an elementary school it would've been a government funded activity.
2002-10-30 04:27:06 PM

btw, goodcop, Salvation is found in Christianity.....THAT is of high value.

The problem being that for salvation to have any value, you first have to BE a Christian.
2002-10-30 04:27:09 PM
Someone left one of these in $20 form for me as a tip when I worked at a restaurant.
As if someone who's just been made a fool of is going to be receptive to the fooler's message. Right.

Amen- the only gospel I was interested in after being messed with like that was the "Gospel according to Whip Your Ass, biatch."
Plus they didn't even leave a "real" tip.
2002-10-30 04:28:19 PM
Damn, I clicked on the link when fark had the banner with Al Gore's face on it. Al Gore overload! Well, I guess the man who invented the Internet deserves to have this much exposure.
2002-10-30 04:29:25 PM
As a non-christian who is pissed off by certain "Christian" groups on a nearly daily basis, I can honestly say that this wouldn't bother me in the least. I mean, what's the big deal? At least they're not threatening anyone.

Oh, and Maveno, we had one of those preacher guys standing in the commons area a few times at my college, yelling at everyone and calling them sinners. Best entertainment we ever had at that school, and free too. But yeah, at least the fake money is less of a hassle than the yelling evangelists.
2002-10-30 04:34:48 PM
Voodoospork, stuff can have value if one does not posses it. money, gold, beer. they are of value, wheater yourself posseses it or not. swap sides, we could use some Christian fark'ers.
2002-10-30 04:34:48 PM
Next thing you know, my coke dealer will be giving me Jesus tracts.
2002-10-30 04:35:24 PM
Can you buy 'shrooms with them?
2002-10-30 04:35:24 PM
Poor Jesus. I thought he'd be able to live comfortably after the Second Coming because I kept hearing about how "Jesus saves." But it turns out his whole IRA is counterfeit money.
2002-10-30 04:38:22 PM
It is lame, but vandalism? Is it truly necessary for the librarians to check each book to protect patrons from being exposed to tracts?
2002-10-30 04:41:23 PM
Actually, DannySpaz, only Christians find salvation in Christianity. I haven't met many Muslims, Buddhist, or whatever that would say their salvation lies in Christianity. Personally, my salvation usually lies at the bottom of a liter of Sapphire. Hold on, I want to type the word "salvation" one more time. Ahhh.
2002-10-30 04:41:56 PM

From the article.

According to college policy, flyers, notices and religious symbols cannot be posted except in authorized areas on the campus.

I lived in Los Angeles for about 6 years or so. Believe me Chicken_little, these preachers are vicious!! They'll follow you for a few blocks, screaming. Yea, some are funny at times (when they're NOT following you), but I'd sure like to have a stupid fake bill instead.

Might as well say this too. Jehovah Witnesses knocking on your door. Now THAT is really bothersome.

No religion is a good religion if you hafta CONVINCE people into believing it. Then again, that might be every religion if you really think of it. Hmm..I have a feeling this might be a long thread if the flamewars get fanned.
2002-10-30 04:42:02 PM
Save 'em and drop them in the collection plate next Sunday.
2002-10-30 04:43:32 PM
why don't they use a picture of our favorite lying coke snorting self appointed dullard king georgie w! we all know he's going to hell for his views of compassion!
2002-10-30 04:46:31 PM

Voodoospork, stuff can have value if one does not posses it. money, gold, beer. they are of value, wheater yourself posseses it or not.

Salvation is worthless to an atheist because they do not believe that they need saving.

swap sides, we could use some Christian fark'ers.

That's rather unlikely.
2002-10-30 04:48:48 PM
The irony is that this is an old-skool trick that the strip clubs used to use in New York City. Printed these pieces of paper that looked like dollar bills and left them on the sidewalk. Morons would pick them up and find snatch staring them on the other side.

Not that I ever fell for it, of course.
2002-10-30 04:49:59 PM

That's pretty funny. In fact, quite similiar to something I did once, back in the days of waiting tables.

I had a couple come in, eat dinner, rang up around 50 bucks on their tab, and left me a Jesus Dollar for a tip. With the name of the church on it.
The church happened to be right down the road from my apartment, and I noticed while driving by that they were having a car wash. I stopped in, had my car cleaned, and gave them the jesus dollar back.
They weren't happy with me.
2002-10-30 04:52:23 PM
this makes me want to put "Satan Dollars" in all the books at the kkkristian book stores.

For YOU, maybe. Not I and not for millions of other people.
2002-10-30 05:04:40 PM
Maveno: They followed people?! I'd call the cops. That's horrible. Would Jesus stalk people and yell insults at them? Even Jebus wouldn't do that.
2002-10-30 05:04:56 PM

Proselytizing is bad, mmmkay?

You're doing just what the stupid counterfeit bills are doing.
2002-10-30 05:10:35 PM
Just be glad the little surprise you find wasn't left by a Muslim.
/joking, but ready to get flamed anyway
2002-10-30 05:11:03 PM
WOO! My Maineite bretheren are revolting! We will one day retake the Earth from Satan, so who's side do you want to be on? If you don't repent, you're going to Hell.
2002-10-30 05:15:26 PM
Doesn't Jack Chick put out tracts disguised as money?

BTW, Where I am, We really don't get the asshat preachers making speeches or stuffing trcats disguised as money. All we really had so far this year was some fundies putting up posters for revival meetings in September and of course, the Gideons passing out those little copies of the New Testament which I end up hawking to the stoners on campus for a buck and a half apiece so they can use the little onionskin pages for rolling papers.
2002-10-30 05:18:43 PM
"On the sixth day god created Man, on the seventh Man returned the favor."
2002-10-30 05:18:54 PM
Sounds like it's time to bring public crucifiction back into the mainstream.. Damn Asshats..
2002-10-30 05:20:43 PM
Voodoospork: The problem being that for salvation to have any value, you first have to BE a Christian.

even then that's not enough. the bible says Jeebus has already chosen the chosen ones, so in reality it doesnt matter how much you pray or what the fark you do.

makes me wonder why they even bother with their preaching iof their own bible says that Jeebus has already chosen.
2002-10-30 05:23:22 PM
Hey! I've been in that library. (The Bates one.)It was really a cool new place oh, 25 years ago.

Chipaku-- It helps if you pick and choose which aspects of your own religion you want to buy into. When you think about it though, you'd have to be proficient in doublethink in order to truly believe everything in the bible.
2002-10-30 05:26:25 PM
im a christain, and hate to hear when stuff like this happens, It gives *real* christians a bad name. All you can do is live by example, and hope that people catch on, but you cant force anyone to beleive something they dont wanna beleive.
I live my life, as a good person, and help people as much as i can. If someone wants to talk, and learn about christianity, then ill be more than happy to talk to them, but i definately dont FORCE my views on anyone, and respect all other beliefs.
i mean i used to be Pagan, so im a pretty understanding, and forgiving person when it comes to religious views. I hate hearing about Dumbasses like this, who have no respect for the rest of the world.
2002-10-30 05:26:40 PM
religions that encourage you to shove your beliefs on other people suck
