On a related note (but off topic), I observed my next door neighbor the other day mowing his lawn sporting a bright orange florescent vest. Does he really think he is going to be "mowed" down in his own front yard in broad daylight by a car? I laughed by a$$ off for at least 10 minutes. Bizarre.

It's more likely that an orange vest will only make him an easier target for some religious fundamentalist with a scope and a gun.

ATTENTION Farkers in or near Grand Island, NE (and Mods here on the system too)!

Please try to submit links for the follow-up story that will inevitably talk about at least one, and possibly two, teenage males being hospitalized with whip marks and foreign objects inserted where they shouldn't be.

I'm figuring that story should be filed sometime within the next day or two. Mods - be on the lookup in the submission queue.

my brother and step-brother did this once (with me in the backseat). well, more than once actually. joy rides in the middle of the night... oh the memories.

except it was my mom's car (minus ph#) and they (we) were driving over peoples lawns. this one particular lawn had nice hedges that had to be mowed through (just like the movies!!). upon trying to exit the front yard, the rear wheels started spinning in the wet, torn grass. thus giving the home owner ample time to write down the license plate number (we did not know this).

well, as soon as we pulled into the driveway, we saw the police car pull in right behind us. with all the grass and bush twigs in the tires, under the car, it was hard to deny that it was us.

i miss childhood.

We took at 1985-ish Chevette filled with 5 people through three lawns...

passing a woman taking grocery out of her Parisienne (Buick station wagon). At the top of her lungs...

I still laugh at that.

The two boys were released into the custody of their families.

Where it's been reported they will not be able to sit in a car seat for the next two months. Or on any other kind of seat, for that matter.

Guess them neighbors won't want these kids to come by and rake the leaves, huh?

got ya'll one better...when i was about 16 late one night a tapping on my bedroom window woke me to find my best friend (at the time) franticly asking me if i had any gas...yes, he ran out of gas turfing some douche bags lawn up the street. had ne no gas so we pushed the car out of the lawn and got it stuck in the culvert in the front yard (keep in mind, this was 'quasi-rural'). i gave up and he had to have it towed out of the ditch. ironically, they never found out who did it.

How about a "quasi-spellcheck" for us...
