Using elements from other people's speeches with their permission isn't stealing.

Oh, noes, all the words spoken by a politician are not their own. Who'd a thunk it.

I don't think it's a wrong to borrow from other people's material as long as they give permission, though I think it's a little disingenuous not to attribute the quotes and represent the material as your own.

I think it's funny that nayone is making a big deal out of this.

I am a Democrat and I am pretty close to declaring that I will not vote for Clinton no matter what. She would strangle a five year old to win this nomination. It is sickening. As much as the Republicans suck ass at least they know enough not to bash the shait out of each other during the primaries. The Dems need to bone up on the 11th commandment.

you know really, obama was about due for a press backlash anyway. Better that it happens now in front of smart people in Wisconsin who can see thru the BS, than two weeks from now in front of less educated folk in texas.

Thank you Unright! Rovian is exactly the term for these attacks. This is why I it is becoming less and less likely that I would ever vote Clinton in the unlikely event that she wins the nomination.

Here is a video from Lawrence Lessig from a few weeks back that does an excellent job of explaining my position on the matter:

Psst - every speech is devoid of actual plans. You don't get to put pie charts and tables into a 10 second sound bite. Show me a Clinton or McCain speech that has actual plans. Or just go to any candidate's website to see their real plans.

Taylor Marsh is a ridiculous shill. She's like an extension of Mark Penn, but without the inconvenience of having to pretend to be civil.

I have noticed this too. Many of the dems, perhaps the moveoners are calling her a republican. It baffles me as 90% of her platform is similar to Baserock Obama's

Cons eventually catch up with you. Obama's played his supporters for suckers. They bought into the hope hype, sucking up this stuff with a straw, only to find out Obama's not an original, he's a knock off, of a governor, no less...The question is whether the journalists who bought into the Obama hype, along with the cable talking heads who propped his campaign up, and the Obama blogs who didn't care one whit about the facts or his record but were only interested in spreading their Hillary hatred, have got so much invested they won't have the honesty, the integrity, and the moral courage to back peddle on their craven cave in before it's not only too late for them, but too late for the Democratic party.

Barack Obama isn't an original. He's the first 21st century L. Ron Hubbard of politics, Elmer Gantry, name your huckster.

Sounds like the attack dogs are out in full force. Taylor Marsh = Jennifer?

generaltimmy: Many of the dems, perhaps the moveoners are calling her a republican.

I think it is just a vocal minority. I don't disagree with most of Clinton's policies. I just prefer Obama's approach to politics. It is exactly what the country needs. I'm not saying he will change how the game is played, but he has a better chance of it than the other two major candidates.

She's a corporatist and a globalist. She also has a hand in every special interest pie in Washington. That makes her far different than Baserock.

There's a lot of alliteration in that paragraph. Makes it annoying to read. You know, besides all that bullsh*t.

Obama released a 48 page economic stimulus proposal this week that outlines in detail the ideas he's been speaking about for months.

Yet the media (which apparently is militantly "Pro-Obama") can only talk about his rhetoric, like it's the only thing he has going.

He's the most intelligent individual in this election cycle. Can we talk about that?

He has been talking about ideas for over a year now, and they're good ideas, much better than Clinton's. Her mortgage solution would be a disaster and would screw over someone like me who is planning to buy his first home in the next two years. Media never mentions this.

He has run an honest, clean campaign.

He is funded by the grassroots.

But the "pro-Obama" media never talks about any of this. They talk about "Hope" and reduce him to a preacher.

I don't like how "rolling back tax cuts for the rich" magically pays for everything on that website and balances the budget.

During the 1st Clinton/Obama debate, Obama's healthcare plan had about a hundreds of billions of shortage that he never even accounted for. It was going to be paid for by "efficiency". AKA we hope it works.

That doesn't even account for all of the other programs he wants to enact including all of the money to inner-cities and home building etc etc etc etc

Obama does have a speechwriter, but he personally wrote the 2004 speech that put him in the national spotlight, and has written other quality speeches in the past. As far as I can tell, the writers are there simply because he's busy (though some might be as good or better than his personally crafted works).

Think about it. Before the Bush tax cuts and the Iraq war we had large budget surpluses. Now with those things in place, we have even larger deficits.
