Autism activists are fast becoming even more annoying than the anti-smoking crusaders. And at least the anti-smoking crowd has science to back up a lot of what they're saying.

Yeah. Definitely funny. Definitely definitely funny.

I'll be sure to go down to Good Will and apologize.

There's nothing like a forcefully extracted apology to make people feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

This? This.

Call me callous, but it seems as if the network did the right thing here...

Adam responded: "Disabled kids. I can call them whatever I want. I work with them all day, OK?"

Reminds me of the exchange from There's Something About Mary:

I work with retards.

Isn't that a little politically incorrect?

Yeah, maybe, but hell, no one's gonna tell me who I can and can't work with.

Inappropriate laughing/giggling? No real fear of dangers? Apparent insensitivity to pain? Inappropriate attachment to objects?

Sounds like Portal to me.

/I should play through that again. That is a fun game.

FTA: John Gilmore, executive director of Autism United, said Monday that his group has been trying to speak with CBS executives since last week's broadcast.

They've been trying, but they've only managed to rock back and forth while muttering.

What do you think the object is supposed to be for "Inappropriate attachment to objects"? I'm going with giant novelty cigarette.

Also, is that an old Delorean bearing down on the "No real fear of dangers" stick figure?

I think it's a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS.

FTA: "Autism is a complex disorder featuring poor social interaction and communication skills."

I was glad they threw that in at the very end, just to avoid any confusion

FTFA: "Big Brother" also has been condemned for contestants' remarks on incest, race, ethnicity and sexual orientation.

Surprisingly, "sucking" wasn't listed.

I thought this was going to be about that episode of Eli Stone that was based on the completely false premise that vaccines cause autism. That pissed me off to no end. Sure, go ahead and use a tragic ailment for your show, but don't freaking lie about it.

Thread over.

I worked with disabled kids for upwards of 6 years, and I always called them retards. Not to make fun of them, but because they were retarded.

/didn't do it on tv though

That poster up there of Autism sounds like real full blown autism...
not any of the more minor ones, or variants of it, in the spectrum disorder type...etc.

I have minor Non-verbal Learning Disability (NLD) / Apsergers
so i'm getting a kick out of the replies.

"Autism, you should have been aborted."

ah crap. i forgot to read the disclaimer on the above mentioned autism poster.

"Persons with Autism may possess the following characteristics in various combinations and in varying degrees of severity."

Wow. I failed at reading. big time.

But hey... anybody else think that image/poster is just BEGGING to be photoshopped?? I mean...it's just perfect...really...

I drew the line at political correctness after having to give up the word "negro".

Retards and midgets will remain retards and midgets and if they don't like it, tough.

I don't have any negative feelings to any disabled people, but I don't think that it's right to demand an apology or have the show cancelled. Reality TV is reality TV. People act terribly towards eachother. Black people get targeted, old people get targeted, fat people get targeted, little people get targeted and now disabled people. It was bound to happen. Nature of the beast. Get over it, please. :(

"We certainly find the statements made by Adam to be offensive but believe they were countered by the immediate reaction of shock and condemnation from a fellow houseguest"
oh, so by their logic i can scream attractive and successful African-American on the air as much as i want if i got somebody there to condemn it. i dont think that would work.

Cagey, don't confuse Autism activists with vaccine hysterists, they are not one and the same. I agree with you that the people who claim that vaccines cause autism are full of shiat, but those attempting to simply bring some light and acceptance to a serious disease are on a worthwhile cause.
