Yodacat: Methinks you need to hit f5

FTFA:

"Clinton focused on contests in the heavily populated states of Ohio and Texas in three weeks as her best hope to stop Osama's surge."

...""We believe it's next to impossible for Senator Clinton to close that pledged delegate count," said David Poufs, Osama's campaign manager."

..."The New York senator dismissed Osama's criticism over the economy, saying his plans fell short on extending health care to all Americans, on dealing with the mortgage crisis and expanding the use of renewable energy."

Did a search for Osama. Nothing there. If I can't find it, it must not exist.

Mealsothinks someone at Reuters is a little too reliant on their spellchecker.

Or it could be that your joke went way over my head at midnight.

He does look like a Osama. Just look at the pixels. I've seen many a photo shop in my day. We can't trust him.

I also found them right away, but it all makes sense, his middle name is Hussein, his family name sounds like Osama and his first name sounds like the putrid sound I made when I horked while having the flu. He is teh EVIL MUSLIM OVERLOARD!!1!

Maybe Osama is running for president and is weighting in on the issues?

2008-02-15 2:15:51 AM
Just like Fark user image often 'accidentally' puts (D) behind certain names?

2008-02-15 3:36:47 AM
I smell the sulfurous hand of Fox News in this.

Obama ought to quickly get this taken down and make them issue an official apology.

Seperate note, but Obama also needs to sue O'Reilly for falsely implying on multiple occasions that Obama is a Muslim. That's defamation of character I'd say.

2008-02-15 3:59:40 AM
Maybe they should just use his middle name to avoid confusion.

2008-02-15 3:59:50 AM

That's defamation of character I'd say.

Inaccurate, yes. Defamatory? You presumably don't know too many Muslims personally.

This isn't so much a Freudian slip as a Freudian free fall.

GAT_00: Seperate note, but Obama also needs to sue O'Reilly for falsely implying on multiple occasions that Obama is a Muslim. That's defamation of character I'd say.

But if he did, then one could say that he is against all Muslims, and that he is against the entire religion to the extent that he would bring up a court case just to make sure he's not associated with them.

Then again, if he lets it go, he admits to being Muslim, Of course, as we all know, that makes him a turrurist and nothing will convince me otherwise.

I think that they got bored by their own story.

2008-02-15 4:04:10 AM
As someone who will most likely vote for Obama, I have to say that it probably was just a case of a lazy editor who ran spellcheck once and hurredly published the article without closer inspection.

/Did the same thing many times in high school. Learned my lesson by the time I got to college.

who cares if he's a terrorist? i'm not voting for him because he's a damn dirty smoker

"We all know that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter and that Reuters upholds the principle that we do not use the word terrorist." (Reuters global editor Steven Jukes)

At any rate, you farkers sniffing the Faux News taint or other conspiratorial bullshiat: You're right (even if you don't know it). Reuters makes 90% of its dough ... not from news ... not from Fark either, you freaks ... but from financial services reporting. Christ, even the Wall Street Journal would call shenanigans on this.

Well ... maybe they would ...

But Sean Hannity says that Obama belongs to a radical black seperatist church. Well which is it? Black separtist Christian or Muslum? I'm getting my republican national committee talking points all confused. Anyone care to clarify?

You say Obama, I say Osama...

Either that, or it is a subtle attempt to shift public opinion...
Nah, never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity.

It's defamatory to say a person holds beliefs they do not hold, whether or not those beliefs are admirable. Calling an atheist a Jew, a Christian a Muslim, a Muslim a Buddhist -- doesn't matter. It's defamation.

The fact that O'Reilly undoubtedly meant it in a bad way makes it doubly so.

I imagine it will change quickly soon.

I take it back, this may not be fixed quickly, since this is hosted on the aol site, however the story on the reuters site is corrected.

animesucks: who cares if he's a terrorist? i'm not voting for him because he's a damn dirty smoker

Is that real? I guess I don't doubt it, being fox news and all.

2008-02-15 4:31:45 AM
While we're rhyming, i say we replace every obama with osama and every mccain with hussein. that would be fun!

2008-02-15 4:47:29 AM
my realtor tried to say that he was muslim today and i told him, uh, no. he's made it a point to be on the news affiliated with christian organizations so people won't make that mistake. not that it should be a big deal if he was, supposedly being the land of freedom of religion and tolerance, but that, frankly, was a pipedream from a long time ago...

2008-02-15 4:57:25 AM
You know, they do kinda sound alike. I never made that connection until just now.

2008-02-15 4:57:39 AM
Heh - I was writing about Obama a few days ago, and the spell checker feature in Word kept trying to change "Obama" to "Osama." I thought it was only a matter of time till the news did it.

I like Obama and plan to vote for him. Still, it blows me away that in this day and age someone named "Hussein Obama" could have a serious chance at the US presidency.

/I suppose that an Obama by another name would smell as sweet...

2008-02-15 4:59:44 AM
I've been waiting for this mistake. It should start to happen with a lot more frequency now that the kid gloves are coming off.

I'd really been hoping pix of Hilary without makeup would start showing up; she's really been spackling it on. I guess she lost so we'll never get to experience that particular sort of lulz.

One letter off, same religion. Think about it.

2008-02-15 5:12:27 AM
Regardless, his middle name is Hussein, and I don't think he's awfully proud of it.

Think about what? Barack Obama isn't Muslim. He's stated this already. He's Christian.

Has it been studied how many votes he'll likely lose because his name isn't more mainstream?

Not only is he a dirty Muslim Christian, but he is a dirty Jewish Muslim Christian! His first name is Baruch.

shivashakti: Barack Obama isn't Muslim. He's stated this already. He's Christian.

If he wasn't so farking smart, and charismatic, and qualified (his policy team includes some of the sharpest, most realistic diplomats and military strategists we have), his Christianity would scare me off.

/voted for him Super Tuesday
//hoping to vote for him again in November
