"Authorities don't think the tasering had any role in the suspect's death."

Yeeeeeeeeeah, right.

2008-02-06 4:07:15 PM
Wow, finally a taser death where the guy deserved it.

Kudos, pigs.

Normally I'd side with the victim on a Taser death, but this time may have been justified. The cop felt a tug on his gun during a fight with the suspect. So it's not as if the cop just zapped him without provocation.

2008-02-06 4:09:52 PM
If there was no taser this asshole would've been beaten with a nightstick. He deserved it either way

"The officers went to his house and asked him about it, and he said he didn't do it. Then he turned to go back inside the house. One of the officers tried to place him under arrest, and that's when he began fighting and resisting arrest," Pennington said.

Something tells me this guy had problems anyway.

Yeah, and if they didn't have a nightstick, they would have sodomized him with a '73 Buick LeSabre.

Normally I'd side with the victim on a Taser death, but this time may have been justified. The cop said hefelt a tug on his gun during a fight with the suspect.

Then, they sprinkled some crack on him.

I saw Scuffle in Detroit, it was a great show. I don't remember anything but the random beej I got. I guess the chick woke up that morning and said "this won't be a great show unless I make it a great show."

Great show.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.

/Ma'am I sorry to tell you your husband is dead
// We killed him
/// After he tried to rape your neighbor

"one of the deputies used the Taser after another deputy said he felt a tug on his gun"

News flash: video clip shot during police muster shows the sargeant saying: "now repeat after me, 'I felt the deceased suspect tug at my gun', 'I felt the deceased suspect tug at my gun', 'I felt the deceased suspect tug at my gun'. Don't say anything else, and we can save you".

Nearly 200 deaths from tasers in the past five years.

http://www.alternet.org/rights/44455/?page=1

Relevant quote, "That's the magic word 'resisting', any kind of police oversight investigation tends to end right there."

So...apparently there was no arrest warrant. They went to this guy's house and he said he didn't do it, and turned around on them. This was enough 'resisting' to tase him to death. Later, apparently, the police got together and decided that their story was that they'd told him he was "under arrest".

/dude probably did it, since he was ID'd as a neighbor. but we'll never get his story, cause he's just another dead guy.

Pennington said he did not think the man died from the Taser shock. He said he thinks MHP toxicology tests might reveal drugs or alcohol played a part in the death.

It's not like this man's opinion counts for much, but if the drugs and alcohol weren't killing him immediately BEFORE the shot from the Taser, then the cause of death is the Taser.

I'm all for a good tasering if one is warned first, but cops the country over seem to think you can use them like a fail safe "just in case" without any concern for the consequences. It seems to me that you can't use Tasers on the elderly, infirm, otherwise sick, or naturally weak. I don't have an especially strong heart, but I'm in good health besides that. I'm terrified a traffic stop where I refuse to give my DNA sample will result in a tasering. Then I'll be a fark story.

2008-02-07 12:24:37 AM
Trying to run back in your house, you better believe that's a tasering.

Jello Fever has the right idea, but it is only half a thought...which should be obvious from the links he posted.

They did not need a warrant to arrest him, or to interview him, or to tase him...it was based on the statements of the victim, and the availability of a fully charged taser.

I love those things! I do not love Jello Fever as he/she seems like he/she would rather go for a ride with Teddy Kennedy instead of just talking to the cops.
