(I-Mockery)   I-Mockery takes a look at "Tattoo Assassins" - one of the most insane fighting games ever created in which you could kill your opponent with anything from a DeLorean to explosive diarrhea (includes video of 60 fatalities)   (i-mockery.com) divider line

Did these people go on to create Way of the Warrior for 3D0?

Explosive diarrhoea? I'd have half a chance

I can't see why this never made it big...

This has to be the stupidest game I've ever seen. I must play it.

Haha getting crushed by a DeLorean is the best fatality ever.

That shiat can't hold a candle to "Desert Bus".

I'd say the MIRV-turkey-out-of-ass was even better.

They really didn't know what they had on their hands, they could have made millions... of people laugh.

After watching the video, "Eat ship & die" has to be my favourite.

This game looks totally friggin' rad. I need to download this. Those fatalities are primo. There's even a Pythonesque meat grinder and a "Whistler's Mother" gag.

I like video games, but they're really violent. I'd like to play a video game where you help the people who were hurt in all the other games. It'd be called Super Busy Hospital. 2. Excuse me I can't talk right now, I'm performing surgery on a man who was shot in the head 57 times.

Wow, the best fatality was the Indian guy scalping someone then proudly wearing that scalp on his head.

They sort of had that. "Theme Hospital". Released somewhere around 2000 by the now defunct Bullfrog software. It inspired me to be a doctor.

However as I am not a doctor, you can tell just how well things work out when you draw your inspirations from a video game.

I played this on MAME. The second to the last guy is near impossible to beat, even with cheats on.

It is a bad ripoff of Mortal Kombat. WHat got me was the score display looks like something out of 1980(ie simple pixelated font) yet everything else is complete.

Why is this in Geek AND Showbiz? :p

Where'd you find the ROM dump?

I think I got it off of Soulseek, with just about every other ROM supported by MAME over the years. I have about 4 gigs of ROMs, most of them work, some don't. You want me to look it up when I get home?

Burgertime, sir. Maybe that's why it says "It's Burger Time!" below the character?

And chalk me up as one of the people that laughed out loud at "Eat Ship & Die!"

Huh, I wonder at what point the American arcade started to go downhill; apparently 1994.

/Why do I see Karla becoming a Fark icon... I just know it's going to happen.

More like 1996.

[looking it up now...] I stand corrected, 1997.

Btw, does anyone else think that game was overrated? I mean, it's funny and cute and all, but equipping your hospital with the same appliances over and over got old after a few levels. Never finished it.

That'd be great - I don't wanna do a search for it here at work, but I need to see this game in all its MAME glory. :-)

"this game has 2196 fatalities"

I like how they advertise that...

Here's the full story behind the game (new window). It's really interesting. It's a tale of a bunch of pinball developers who were forced to make a crappy MK knockoff, with promises of big bonuses and fame.

My favorite part, from one of the developers:

Our biggest deadline was the ACME convention. We made it there with a game that played, but there were no special moves for any characters except for one electric zap thrown in for A. C. Current just before we got on the plane. The game was a joke but no one seemed to notice--we were congratulated at having made it that far, which was impressive only if you knew the whole story. One guy at the show made a point over and over again that he could get through the entire game start to finish by pounding the electric zap button over and over with one finger. I wanted to beat him senseless.

O rly?

For some reason, I remember reading that only 2 cabinets were ever produced. One sits with the company that made it and the other was lost in a flood.

Prove yourself. Pics or it didn't happen.

I would have put enough quarters into this game to feed Yugoslavia for a month.
