They really don't have a clue. care if what they say makes sense, as long as it keeps them in the news

last i knew was that PETA's agenda didn't have anything to do with cannibalism.

How about we start him on a diet of PETA executives and supporters?

NeoAnderthal: They really don't have a clue.

Don't they? Vegetarians very rarely engage in cannibalistic practices. I'm guessing that's their point.

2008-01-11 10:45:00 AM
But what is their stance on the treatment of the jail's rats and cockroaches?

Unright: Don't they? Vegetarians very rarely engage in cannibalistic practices. I'm guessing that's their point.

Yeah...but if they turn him into a Vegetarian he will ceaselessly tell everyone in sight about how great it is that he is a Vegetarian.

....I would rather he stay a cannibal.

Dear PeTA,
This attempt at spreading vegetarianism was very boring. Please go back to your usual approach of hot naked chicks on the sidewalk in front of KFC, ASAP. Thanks.

Sincerely,

Isotope

Being on a vegetarian diet would lead me to senseless killing.

PETA is shrieking itself into obscurity.

Actually, I hear they do a brisk business in cat meat. They seem to think cats are vegetables.

"the group put to death over 90 percent of the animals it took in during 2005 alone."

Oops, UPDATE: PETA Killed Over 97 Percent of the Animals in their Care in 2006

Yep, according to Virginia Department of Agriculture, they solicited 1564 cats from owners and euthanized 1465. They're really enjoying their "rights" and "freedom" now!

I'll attend his execution wearing my PETA shirt... People Eating Tasty Animals.

For Chris-sakes. If God didn't want us eating animals, then why did he make them out of meat?

2008-01-11 11:37:42 AM
I think the point PETA is trying to make is, "Meat is murder."

doublesecretprobation: last i knew was that PETA's agenda didn't have anything to do with cannibalism.

No, but it does have to do with animals. And we humans classify as those. Perhaps they should change their name to add "except primates" "except all humans".

/Humans are meat, too.

I think they are closing the barn door after the horse escaped in this case.

"senseless killing"

They let prisoners kill things while they are in prison?

i'm a vegetarian, but to quote fat mike ' "affection not dissection" "meat is murder" "animals are for petting" oh shut the fark up already'

Unright: Don't they? Vegetarians very rarely engage in cannibalistic practices. I'm guessing that's their point.

Uh--a cannibal by definition cannot be a vegetarian, so if that's their argument it makes even less sense than usual.

Most Republicans aren't cannibals either, but I don't see PETA urging anyone to vote Republican.

It's a crime to eat your girlfriend? I thought that was only if the wife found out.

When asked how eating a hamburger compared to cannibalism, Friedrich said all meat is from a corpse. He further stated he believes McCuin could become violent if he ate meat and could kill.

That's the most surprising bit in the entire article. Since when does PETA care if humans die? I've never heard them express any such sentiment in the past.

Suicidal Writer: You know PETA kills plants. Frutarianism (new window) is the true path.

Eating fruit that naturally falls off a tree is like eating a baby as it comes out of its mother's womb.

The only correct way to go is to not eat anything that is or used to be living.

2008-01-11 2:29:44 PM
Whatever the merits of PETA may or not be, it really doesn't seem that they don't care about the murder/ cannabilism. They're just using it as an opportunity to compare it to eating all meat.

In other words, it's all bad.

Dust

Dustarianism

Low in fat, doesn't hurt the environment, I bet someone on a diet of dust wouldn't kill anything!

No, of course not. But I understand that most inmates are veterinarians already, what with all that salad tossing...

I eat meat, but I still acknowledge that meat eaters are more violent than non-meat eaters.

Honestly, the anti-PETA crowd is getting to be a lot more annoying than even the nuttiest PETA members these days.

I like how they implied in the article that eating meat is the sole reason that Cannibals exist and that its a very wide spread problem.

doublesecretprobation: last i knew was that PETA's agenda didn't have anything to do with cannibalism.

Actually, IIRC, a famous PETA member has publicly stated that they'd like to be cooked up and eaten after they die, as some sort of convoluted political statement.

PETA doesn't believe that people should have pets, because they view pet ownership as the subjugation of animals, and their ultimate goal is the total "liberty" of all animals. So I am thinking that the reason they euthanize animals is that somewhere deep inside they know that domisticated animals could not survive in the wild as "liberated" beasties, so although you shouldn't eat them or use them for warmth or to improve medicines, they do think it's OK to remove loving pets from homes and them kill them when they don't have room for them.

/or something like that, I don't know, all PETA members seem slightly deranged to me

2008-01-11 2:36:41 PM
Lemme check here... doesn't seem like the inmate requested and was denied such a meal. Most people enjoy meat with their meals. So forcing him to eat vegetarian might be considered cruel, but at the very least unusual. I'm pretty sure there's a piece of paper around here that prevents such treatment. Oh, it's just the Constitution you've decided to tear the last little bits of up. No biggie.

Better to become a 5th-level vegan. Don't eat anything that casts a shadow.

I had a friend who was vegetarian. She said that, if pressed, she would resort to cannibalism.

When asked about that how that stood in opposition to her vegetarianism, she said "Yeah, but I want to live, too."

"Meat is murder. Delicious, delicious murder."

2008-01-11 2:38:36 PM
Most animals who kill for food could not survive if they didn’t, but that is not the case for humans. In fact, we would be better off if we didn’t eat meat. Many animals, including some of our closest primate relatives, are vegetarians. We should look to them, rather than to carnivores, as models of healthy eating.

2008-01-11 2:39:17 PM
Animals on factory farms gain weight, lay eggs, or produce milk not because they are well cared for, comfortable, and content but because their bodies have been manipulated with medications, hormones, genetics, and management techniques. In addition, animals raised for food are slaughtered when they are extremely young, usually before disease and misery decimate them. Factory farmers raise such huge numbers of animals for food that it is less expensive for them to absorb some losses than it is for them to provide humane conditions.
