Fark George Clooney, man. I lost any respect I had for the guy when he started advertising Nestle coffee earlier this year.

But who's going to explain to everyone how socially enlightened and important to the evolution of mankind Hollywood is?

2008-01-06 2:52:38 PM
So the most self-congratulatory segment of society is refusing to show up and congratulate itself?

This won't end well.

/or maybe none of these asshats will work again and it will be an ideal ending.

They can claim "solidarity" all they want. They're just scared shiatless of opening their mouth without a script in front of them, even if it is just a collection of cheesy banter and dry jokes.

Please, NO, George!!

Who will give this year's anti-war speech?!?!?!

Oh wait, this is Hollywood...go ahead and sit it out Clooney, we have a full bench of blowhard jackasses just like you.

Mofo's old gay he-biatch!

To everyone complaining about a blowhard, anti-war jackass boycotting, I think you have George Clooney confused with Sean Penn.

Oh god no, where will be the witty banter about hollywoods totally single and lovin' it 'man about town'.

He's like our generation's Sinatra, but less cool, bald, and not mobbed up.

and yet subby went through the trouble of telling us about it... hmmm.

Who watches the Oscars when you can go online and just read who did? Then you can use the other three to five hours to do something more exciting like finish a puzzle, do some homework, read a book, or practice kung fu.

careful or George will flex his face at you

Hey George, so am I.

Oh, the list of differences between Clooney and FAS doesn't stop there...

I don't bother with the Oscars anway, but perhaps Clooney has another reason to do so.

2008-01-06 5:00:38 PM
Oh yeah, this is about the writers' strike. So they don't have anything to award anyway, right?

I'm sure he heard you.

Hehe, you guys are funny. George Clooney is probably one of the more likable persons in Hollywood. What did he ever do to you, besides get more poon thrown at him in a day than you all will get next to in your whole lives?

2008-01-06 5:59:54 PM
Probably jealousy. I have nothing against him myself, though he doesn't appear in the kind of movies I like.

Don't forget that he gets more dung thrown at him by pindick neotards than anyone in H'wood.

Clooney wishes he was this generation's Sinatra. Back in the 1950s and 1960s, Sinatra (along with his buddies Dino and Sammy) was the embodiment of cool. Clooney will never achieve the legendary status that Sinatra had, no matter much he tries to.

/Clooney's Oscar speech was one of the most smug and self-congratulatory things I've ever read.
//This doesn't change the fact that I love Ocean's Eleven and Ocean's Thirteen (Twelve sucked, though).

Oh God forbid anyone make a disparaging remark about someone who is richer and gets more pussy than us because they are clearly better than we. I like the guy and I like most of his movies. The montage he hosted at last year's Oscars that showed all the events in the 20th Century and how Hollywood was there, dragging the rest of the world kicking and screaming into enlightenment was a bit much, that's all.

I would watch the Oscars, but I find that if I stab myself with a rusted butter knife repeatedly that I get the same effect for a lot less time.

Well, he probably didn't write that stuff. And calm down there. It's just the standard joke about what losers Farkers are. I don't even necessarily believe it--after all, I spend a lot of time here trying to impress somebody.

So long as No Country for Old Men and Javier Bardem are recognized for their efforts, I will be pleased.

Best Supporting Actor for the latter is a must.

Even John Stewart called bullshiat with his quip "And none of those things were ever a problem again."

Agree with Javier Bardem for best supporting for all of the films I've seen this year, but I have a feeling that Paul Dano may steal the catergory with his performance in There Will Be Blood.

/will be seeing TWBB on the 11th

Excellent point Wombatzu. Hey Mugato - maybe you should spend less time player hating and more time on figuring out how to write correct sentence structure.

God forbid someone with power and celebrity stick up for striking writers. What is so wrong about not wanting a cross a picket line?

Who gives a fark about a crappy awards show anyhow?

Came to make the smug alert reference.
Saw there was already a picture reminding everyone that, once again, South Park had a celebrity pegged.
Left the thread happy.

I like how he decides to boycott awards shows, only in this case of the writers strike and money. Umm, how about boycotting it on, I don't know, moral reasons like a bunch of rich people getting together to congratulate themselves on being completely greedy and narcissistic dicktoads.

2008-01-07 1:11:10 AM
My writing is stellar.

Who cares? It isn't like he is going to win anything anyway.
