Not surprising. That's the only thing muslims are good at -- murdering/ maiming other people.

I take it he was not the bomber?

A bear named Muhammed casues the middle east to become unstable, so I believe this could be bad.

I'm sure Bush will get the league of trashy smuts to pull something to distract the people from this.

Apparently Pakistan is taking cues from American culture on being afraid of women in power.

2007-12-27 8:21:28 AM
Uh oh.

2007-12-27 8:21:30 AM
It is the first major attack in the lead up to the January election, since President General Pervez Musharraf lifted emergency rule two weeks ago.

He's got things well under control now.

2007-12-27 8:21:32 AM
Who got what in the where now?

sounds like Pakistan could use a little freeing up.

I can only hope this goes merely poorly.

The government will have a riot on their hands if she dies, if they don't already. Pakistan will fall into civil war and Musharraf will slam on "emergency rule" to get control again. I hope I'm wrong for all the people there.

/yes, definitely will not end well.

2007-12-27 8:24:17 AM
Those darn Pakistanis, always clowning around.

Huh-huh this is obviously Bush's fault, and Haliburton, and Dick Cheney too.

I'm glad you asked, AngryDragon. Here's a great place to start.

Michael_Mythix: I'm sure Bush will get the league of trashy smuts to pull something to distract the people from this.

Keeping the American people uninformed of this event helps Bush how?

On to my main comment:

Bhutto was off the radar for half an hour before she arrived at the hospital, and there were conflicting reports saying she was fine, and now reports that she is critically injured.

False flag.

2007-12-27 8:24:54 AM
If the bomb went off 50 metres away from here, me thinks it's unlikely she is 'critically injured'.

From the BBC:
PPP spokesman Farahtullah Babar said Ms Bhutto was only some 50 metres away when the bomb exploded, the Associated Press news agency reports. "She had just crossed the gate when we heard a deafening sound."
Mr Babar said that Ms Bhutto was safe, but subsequently PPP party members have said that Ms Bhutto was injured in the blast and taken to hospital.

oh the opposition leader is killed by a suicide bomber?

hmmm sounds like this was "official" terrorism

2007-12-27 8:25:21 AM
I heard she once robbed a 7/11

AngryDragon: What the fark is wrong with these people?

The same thing that is wrong with any group of people who are zealous in their beliefs and completely intolerant of other thoughts. Add to that a lack of empathy, a dash of poverty, a bit of unemployment, and a complete lack of hope for their future, and you get a group of people who can do things like this.

/// also, it doesn't help if your religious leaders are exhorting you to do this crap and telling you that it's your duty, is ok, and will get you to the afterlife in good standing...

Whoopty Whoo The Precious Bongo Boy: Apparently Pakistan is taking cues from American culture on being afraid of women in power.

Considering she'd already been elected once...

/let me know when someone tries to blow Hillary up.

2007-12-27 8:25:45 AM
CNN says she was shot in the neck. No article. It's in the 'live breaing news' section near the top.

2007-12-27 8:25:50 AM
"I take it he was not the bomber?"

Um, Benazir is a she.

"They are also good at keeping their women under wraps."

SHE became the first female PM in the muslim world, only 15 years before the US even thought about a female candidate.

jonr: You could paint a house in one stroke with that brush!

Nope - for the longest time, I thought my muslim friends back at school weren't good at anything, but as soon as the maiming contests started, they were getting first pick. Good for them, I said. Everyone needs something.

I very often here and placed into the "Anti-Muslim" side for a variety of reasons, but I want to point out that one shouldn't immediately assume "Islam" is the direct reason for this one. Musharraf is a thug -- always has been and always will be -- and his people have been trying to hit Bhutto for quite a while. She's not exactly an angel herself (she's one of the most corrupt politicians in recent memory), but I'd say it's much more likely this was a governmental power struggle hit than a purely religiously motivated attack.

It may very well turn out to be the latter, but this is one of the cases where the situation should be viewed a bit more dispassionately until all the facts are in.
