Hillary is going to peg him so hard for this.

2007-12-19 2:27:31 PM
what a waste of time that would be anyway. No amount of daddy apologizing for his idiot son is going to fix anything at this point, we may as well just close ranks and tell the world to go screw off.

In a statement sent to CNN Tuesday afternoon, former President Bush's chief of staff Jean Becker said that he "wholeheartedly supports the President of the United States, including his foreign policy. He has never discussed an 'around-the-world-mission' with either former President Bill Clinton or Sen. Clinton, nor does he think such a mission is warranted since he is proud of the role America continues to play around the world as the beacon of hope for freedom and democracy.

The old man must be going senile. Bush Jr gave the world Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay, not a beacon of hope or freedom.

Afternoon_Delight: Oh goodie! The spinners are here to change the subject...

Not to change the subject, but maybe Bill said what he did to make everyone in the country shiat-scared of Hillary not vote for her?

Maybe he's a hero in all this.

I think what he means is that most people are left hoping for freedom and democracy after dealing with us.

What game were you watching. The Bushies just ate it. Bill proposes that George (and other notables) join him to help repair the farking mess his son created. George declines. Bill has on the one hand showed a tremendous amount of class by inviting George and the refusal only guarentees that the tour will be more successful because it won't have any connect to Junior.

The world hates Dubya and loves Bill and Hillary.

Yes, yes, and no. Nobody loves Hillary except corporations, lobbyists, and morons.

Fact is, Sr Bush originally agreed to this. Then the Quaker Oats guy he's married to told him if he does this, he shouldn't bother even coming home. So, it's not his fault... it's the Quaker Oats guy's fault.

Maybe the campaign wasn't the best platform for this...but man do I wish George H.W. would get on this plan. IMHO, Bill and Bush Sr. would do a great job of communicating with world leaders, as they have proven themselves.

We've always been open for business. As a charity.

Clinton: Your son is an idiot. Let's go around the world and apologize for him.
Bush Sr.: He's still my son. Go fark yourself.

mrshowrules:

"Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again," Clinton said in response to a question from a supporter about what his wife's "number one priority" would be as president.

Seems to me it was Bill going "off script" again. He's usually more nimble on his feet, but he pretty much took and idea and put it out there as a plan, when Elder Bush was never consulted. If you read that as the Bushies "eating it" that's your interpretation. To me, he put something else on the table for them to be mocked for.

And really, I do think it's a shame. It's not a bad idea.

The Quaker Oats joke was so funny you had to use it twice in one post?

Anyway, had you RTFA, you'd know Clinton never discussed the idea with Bush.

This is where Bush Senior is being more of a Father, than a leader figure. Its hard to face the fact that your son is an idiot and virtually singlehandedly ruin the reputation and respect of an Entire country. The magnitude to accept that is just too great.. Can't blame the man, but Bill is just calling it as he and the rest of the world sees it.

I'd say that GHWB had his hands tied because Bill's plan was part of Hillary's presidential outlook AND it conveys the message that the republican president, who oh, by the way happens to be his son, has overseen damaging our international reputation. He'd be signing on the "Sorry W and the Republican party made us look bad, but we're cool, remember us? I liberated Kuwait and listened to Cheyney in not invading Iraq... and Clinton played a mean sax and you just can't stay mad at him!"

Couldn't happen.

Well yeah. 60-something million of them, in fact, if the last presidential election was any gauge.

Anybody who thought that would actually happen is in the running for world's biggest idiot.

Did you really think Bush, Sr. would go against his retarded son?

I'm guessing the tour would have involved going to a bunch of McDonalds while wearing jogging suits?

Doesn't the Clinton-Bush Sr jaunt versus the Bush Jr out-of-control antics remind anyone of that not-so-well known movie, My Fellow Americans.

Jack Lemmon plays the Bush Sr character, James Garner does Clinton and Dan Aykroyd plays the nefarious Bush Jr.

Decent movie. Only seen in hotel rooms, apparently.
