You mean the same dipshiats who voted for the Iraq War, then blamed Bush for it?
Or are you referring to the clowns who were briefed on CIA water-boarding as far back as 2002 but only acted outraged once the media found out about it?

Not true. Calls for change starts outside the system until the system is forced to change in order to preserve itself from complete annihilation.

Yup those are the ones. And they are working with republican dipshiats. It makes for a fine example of leadership and the pinnacle of governmental operations.

Son of God: Calls for change starts outside the system until the system is forced to change in order to preserve itself from complete annihilation.

You've pretty much hit the nail on the head. The celebrity- and soft news-driven media no longer work in the interests of the people.

Democrats "are discovering"? Like, as in, just now? Were they all under their respective rocks for the past year or something?

Well, in spite of that overwhelming stupidity, at least they're coming to the truthful realization, unlike the 25%ers who are still in complete, total, and religiously zealous denial.

God, I hate people sometimes.

As a democrat, I find Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Stenny Hoyer, and most of the rest of them to be the best representatives the Republican party could hope for.

2007-12-12 8:06:11 PM
I remember how almost everybody here was cheering before the elections, when it was pretty clear that the Republicans would lose at least the House of Representatives, and the only thing the few right-wingers on Fark could cling to in their misery and despair was to point and pout and say "But do you really think this will change anything?" and all the idiots from the other side would laugh triumphantly and bathe in huge amounts of schadenfreude, yelling "You'll get your ass handed to you, right-wingers, just you wait and see, the Democrats promised!", totally ignoring the fact that politicians always promise and will keep promising as long as they can count on the millions of easily influenced sheep that blindy walk on both sides and will keep their drooling mouths shut as long as they are being fed promises and expectations.

I found the Daily Show interview with Mike Huckabee (curious to see how different he was/is) from January of this year and they had a segment about Pelosi's "First 100 Hours!"

It was then I realized America's going down the t00bs.

Nothing is getting done because the Repubs are stonewalling almost all legislation.

This article (from today's Washington Monthly) sums it up nicely.
Link

Today's New York Times explains Mitch McConnell's "nyet" strategy for making sure that nothing gets done:

Mr. McConnell and his fellow Republicans are playing such tight defense, blocking nearly every bill proposed by the slim Democratic majority that they are increasingly able to dictate what they want, much to the dismay of the majority leader, Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, and frustrated Democrats in the House.

In fact, the Senate Republicans are so accustomed to blocking measures that when the Democrats finally agreed last week to their demands on a bill to repair the alternative minimum tax, the Republicans still objected, briefly blocking the version of the bill that they wanted before scrambling to approve it later.

Italics mine. It's hard to say anything about this other than the obvious: the Democrats have a very slim majority; the rules of the Senate work against them; and the Republican Party, even as it prepares to shuffle into what may well be a decade of irrelevance, continues to display a genuinely remarkable ancien régime ability to stick together and insist that nothing is wrong until its collective face turns blue. Even the fact that the entire country may well turn blue next November as a result doesn't dissuade them.

I used to be real excited about Pelosi. Now I am just meh about her.

2007-12-13 1:44:14 AM
Lets face it. Any Democrat that realistically looked at what Pelosi managed as minority leader (nothing), looked at the shoe-horning, stubborn, debate by force Republicans, and thought anything was going to get done in this new Congress was being hopelessly idealistic.

The best they could have done is raised issues to the forefront and forced Republicans to go on the record against positively seen programs. And even in that they haven't been stellar about presenting their arguments (some of which are quite valid) to the people.

FTFA:

The inability to resolve the Iraq debate or tackle the other most pressing issues is one reason the number of people saying they disapprove of the performance of Congress - at 70 percent in some recent surveys - has risen 15 to 20 points or more since the start of the year.

And they say Ron Paul has no chance? If the voters were allowed to be informed about Ron Paul they would support him overwhelmingly - he would get Ronald Reagan type numbers - but the MIC et al. can't have that.

there's always so much shiat flying around it's hard to know what to believe.

first off, I think anyone dem or rep who voted to give bush the authority to invade iraq should be out of a job. so right there I don't care for nancy.

as for the new waterboarding info. what exactly was she briefed on? I'm not sure. I'll hold judgment on that for a bit.

overall though, I'll just look at the real world results since the dems took power...yup, I'm pissed.

I would like to see them kickin' bush's incompetent ass all over DC, but they wont. they're mostly talk.
I'd like to see them cleaning up DC lobbyists, working hard to address the most serious issues, and so much more, but it's not gonna happen.

dems are pro-politicians just like reps. right now they're the better of the two, but they're not that much better, and I get the feeling they have to potential to be just as bad.

in my life I've never witnessed a better opportunity for a sensible third party to come out swinging. I'm really surprised that one hasn't emerged yet. after the dems gain the WH in 08 I think they'll disappoint everyone to the point of disgust.

she supported the invasion/occupation of iraq.
