Shaggy_C: As a 2006 Fond du Lac High School graduate, I was blessed to have many outstanding teachers. But I also encountered some teachers who were precisely the kind of liberal fanatics Rob Hynek warns us about, hyper-partisans for whom the Left matters more than the students.

Don't be so upset guys, it's just a little kid. He doesn't know any better.

And a quick Google search brought up his blog^ and this darling picture. He's the one on the right.

NewportBarGuy: Yeah, I'm having trouble defining the appropriate way to handle terrorists. They're military enemies without a state that wage war on us through criminal acts... I do believe personally, however, that everyone gets due process ONCE they are off the battlefield and in our custody. You do bring up a very interesting point however about how to be able to apply that feel-good theory to the people who are guilty but would be very hard to forget now under these newer ideas. (who knew so many people would give a shiat about terrorists) I will have to think on that more. Obviously my answer is not the "let them go! innocent until proven guilty" line. Only an idiot or someone blinded by ideology would really think that about these people if they had ever been to Iraq or Afghanistan and seen their work instead of comfortably passing judgement from their recliners at Keith Olbermann's behest.

It's sad to see someone so young already so thoroughly indoctrinated in today's conservative politics of fear and ignorance. It's like child abuse or something.

All anger is fear-based.

Not an easy concept, but always true.

All of these angry people need to ask themselves what they are so afraid of.

They are angry about finding out that they're not special. Their problems pale in comparison to people around the world.

SemperLieSuckah: I do believe personally, however, that everyone gets due process ONCE they are off the battlefield and in our custody.

I'm serious. If you let the DOJ's top people prosecute these they'll surprise you. However, you have to accept that we'll lose some cases. Some on grounds of forced confessions, etc.

They are pretty damn good. But some people want a 100% prosecution guarantee. That flys in the face of "justice". You know, as well as I, that those who do get off will have their names etched into memory and pics placed in a book. If they are come across again on some distant battle field there will be a field trial and sentence will be delivered on the spot.

I'm confident most people are fine with what happens in the field, but when we extract them it gets sticky. We have to at least appear to give them some kind of legal recourse. If we could do it for the Nazis (I know they were a uniformed, state military) we can do it for "rocket man" and his buddies.

Alan Colmes Makes Me Sick

He just said that Iran (you know, the guys who kidnapped a group of British sailors) doesn't want a conflict because their rhetoric is "softening." So lemme get this straight: As long as they talk nice while they're committing flagrant acts of aggression, it counts as a net decrease rather than an escalation?
-
Reminds me of the scene in Mars Attacks where the Martians announce "Don't worry; we are your friends!" as they're shooting everything in sight. Except, of course, then the Left presumably knew it was a joke.

If he graduated in 2006, and I'm doing my math right (it's 3 AM here so who knows)... yeah he should be 18 or 19 if he graduated on schedule.

You_mean_Im_gonna_stay_this_color: There must be a conspiracy. All these liberal educators and scientists,, it's almost like, smart people tend to hold liberal views. Shocking.

People who benefit directly from a very strongly socialist system (public schools and universities both live almost entirely off public funding) tending to think that it's more broadly applicable than it actually is isn't really the same thing as "smart people holding liberal views".

That said, if a kid's parents are people with real jobs, they probably adopt a fairly conservative viewpoint and it's good for the kid to be exposed to error in the other direction so they can have an idea of the whole range.

To be fair, while it's ridiculous to complain about anyone's political leanings, so long as they teach the course material effectively, I can't really picture a course for which thie type of discussion has a place. He was probably out of line for saying a lot of that.

2007-12-12 6:13:14 AM
poopspasm - i don't think the discussion relates to the classroom. it is due to the fact that some people - one a teacher, no less - have dared to express less than complete support for the administration's policy in letters to a local newspaper. this liberal challenge to authority tripped a circuit in wingnut's brain and he launched into an ad hominem attack on liberal educators

/he's just some fox-brainwashed little runt, parroting coulter and o'reilly; incapable of independent thought

bush lied? hard to prove, he may have simply been stupid.

bush was disastrously wrong about iraq. easy to prove.

if you ask me some on the left should just save the 'bush lied' speech and stick to bush farked up beyond belief.
the first argument invariably devolves into a semantics argument and gets nowhere, while the second one is plainly obvious to just about everyone.

if you're looking for a blatant crime to boot him there are plenty of open scandals that most likely have the potential to take him down. too bad most americans think it's not worth giving him what he deserves because he's almost out of office anyway.

That you consider teachers "smart" is what's shocking. Those who can do, and those who can't, teach.

There's nothing wrong with a teacher being a liberal or a conservative as long as it doesn't affect how they teach... Which is exactly the opposite of what is happening as teachers are using their political views as a method of teaching.

As a 2006 Fond du Lac High School graduate

Ahahahaha, he's a young republican. No wonder he's so offended when people suggest war supporters join the military. Then he'd have to do something besides pen letters crying about liberals.

The liberal teachers are using a dark form of magic called "liberal arts!"

2007-12-12 8:03:28 AM
From his blog: I'm a proud, unapologetic young Christian conservative, from Abortion to Zionism, and trust me: I'm no RINO. I'm a class of 2006 escapee - *ahem* - "graduate" of Fond du Lac High School, and a freshman at Hillsdale College.

So in other words, he's just as partisan and close-minded as the teacher he is condemning.

Laugh if you want, but "liberal arts" have destroyed our country.

The left wing wants to destroy this Christian nation by educating our young people with this "liberal arts" nonsense.

Those who can do, and those who can't, teach.

I'm a teacher. I've yet to find anything in life that is beyond my ken without a bit of effort. Teaching simply is the most challenging, difficult, and rewarding profession I could find.

Imagine making thousands of decisions every day that directly impact individual lives. Imagine attempting to engage 35 distinctly different, hormonely-crazed teens in a single presentation in a subject they are inherently disinterested. Every damn day. 5 times a day. Tough stuff.

I've no idea what you do, but I'd be more than happy to pit my skill set against yours any day of the week. Bring on the challenge -- you might be surprised by what "those that can't" are able to do.

2007-12-12 8:20:25 AM
Wow. When I was this kids age I was far too busy getting drunk and laid to bother writing letters to the editor. He really needs to get his priorities straight.

I just don't get young republicans. When I was their age (get off my lawn etc) I wanted to tear down the corporate state. These kids are hell bent on sucking up to power rather than railing against it. It just boggles the mind.

At least he has a healthy disrespect for the only real authority figures he's had to deal with i.e. the liberal elite of his teachers.

What a mature young man to take his concerns about the Public to the Public in the form of this letter to the editor. It is the bright young people like this young fellow who will lead this country in the future and it gladdens me to see that he is properly wired for Decency and Truth. Just when I think there is no hope for Conservatives at the Hands of the Charlatan Libs, along comes a young person of this caliber and my face is, again, awash in smiles at being an American and under God's Watchful Eye.

aevert: What do you expect from a Fondle Sack HS graduate?

"If you're not a liberal before you're 30 you have no heart... if you're not a conservative after you're 30 you have no brains." - Winston Churchill

At least I got the first part right. It always saddens me to see young people starting right out of the gate w/the uber-conservatism. The world can only get smaller for this guy as the years wear on.
