In related news, Everett is a pit and traffic coming into Boston from the north is backed up on a weekday morning.

2007-12-05 7:48:07 AM
And the freaking morning news won't shut up about it long enough to cover the weather and traffic anywhere else in the area.

ZAZ: Everett is a pit

That's hardly fair. Revere is a pit. Everett is worse. And then there is Lynn.

No kidding. I "walked" away when I backed the 7.5ton moving truck into a lawyer's VW Golf. This? You can figure out the fastest way to the horizon by following me. But not too closely or you might catch fire.

2007-12-05 10:25:32 AM
OK, lemme see if I get this straight. Exploding tanker truck, not terrorists. Light-bright, ZOMG TERRORISTS! ARREST EVERYONE!

From photo caption: Workers towed away the remnants of the tanker near the rotary intersection of Routes 16 and 99.

Stupid rotary intersections. Worst traffic design ever, yet monkey see-monkey do planners insist on putting them everywhere.

At what point does it go from "putting out a fire" to "har har har watch me put another layer of ice on it LOL"?

Cuz, I think the Boston fire chief needs to review that line with his boys.

When the first firefighters arrived, they encountered a hellish scene, officials said. The tanker truck was carrying nearly a full load of 10,000 gallons of gasoline, police said.

So... Hell has gasoline? Someone tell Bush.

2007-12-05 10:48:24 AM
It's the Boston Gas party... they dress up as "natives' and the burn the gas in protest of taxes, prices and whatever else pisses them off today.

Lumoclear: Those Bostonians... Didn't they try flooding the streets with Molasses one time too?

Why yes they did. I see someone has already put up the link. I remember my Grandmother (who was from Boston) telling me about it as a kid, I used to think she was pulling my leg, but apparently she was not. An account from wiki states:

"Molasses, waist deep, covered the street and swirled and bubbled about the wreckage. Here and there struggled a form - whether it was animal or human being was impossible to tell. Only an upheaval, a thrashing about in the sticky mass, showed where any life was.... Horses died like so many flies on sticky fly-paper. The more they struggled, the deeper in the mess they were ensnared. Human beings - men and women - suffered likewise."[4]

Ugh!
