In related news, the election is a year from now.

Pathetic. Truly and totally.

The election begins in 38 day. It ends a year from now. Dumbass.

The ELECTION is in November 2008.

That's a year from now.

The ELECTION is in November 2008.

The primaries begin in 38 days... You're not going to find me defending our overly drawn out process, but its true that anyone who doesn't have much support in 38 days, is probably farked.

That's a year from now.

Well, good thing we weed out the losers now before they cause real damage. If the election started any later, Hillary would be cruising to the nomination. As it stands now, it's lasted juuuuust long enough to cause her to tailspin. Whether the tailspin is enough to cause her to lose to Obama or Edwards or Biden, though, is another question entirely.

Looks like the MSM forgot that the American people still think the president is voted for next November. The election's not for a year but they already picked the winner.

So basically we are going to be stuck with 2 candidates who pretend to have positions that appeal to some 'base' all while trying to make most americans think they'll do just what those americans want them to do? And all the while some 3rd or 4th or 5th party candidate who really does have answers will be ignored because they aren't part of either team- I mean political party?

Right. I'll vote. But I won't be happy with the choices presented to me. Kind of like standing in school lunch line to choose between that shiatty spaghetti or that crappy burger with green beans that look 2 weeks old and apple sauce that may or may not be classified as a living organism.

The nomination process that Thompson still has to get through comes a little bit earlier than a year from now.

I am at a loss on how Rudy or Romney are making headway with social conservatives. It just does not add up. Their records should turn off any social conservatives or anti-authoritarian/federalists.

Same thing with Huckabee and fiscal conservatives. His economic populism should be offensive to most fiscal conservatives.

The only "true" conservatives (paleo or libertarian) are Fred, Hunter, and Dr Paul. Any one of them should be able to grab the reins of the Republican party and move it into an area that might mimic what they were about only 10 years ago. A party with a rotted leadership and a movement that has lost it's identity. Is it name recognition? Is conservativism a totally fractured idea? Are people making ideological compromises for viablity? My hope is on the third.

I still will not vote in the general for either of the three that I deemed not true conservatives. If one of them is the R candidate and the dems do not nominate Richardson (he actually sits fourth on my list), I guess it will be hello 3rd party or writing in Amanda Hugnkiz.

Go Fred Go!!! As a Tennessean, I've got a lot of respect for Thompson. He hasn't been given a fair chance by a lot of media commentators, but I'm willing to bet he's got a few surprises up his sleeves I think we'll see in the coming weeks. Most polls show him in second for the GOP.

/shameless Tennessean plug (at least it wasn't a Ron Paul post in all caps :)

I don't think "fair chance" means what you think it means.

Watch the montage of "media commentators" fawning all over the "Reaganesque" Fred.

Link (poppy) His campaign is a hallucination.

Did you see the Nov. 21st online fundraiser for Fred at fredsgivingday.com? I think he raised a whopping $8,200 in one day.
