Here's to bizarre fish sex lives!

hermaphroditic fish that breath air? Clearly the work of the deceiver (Satan!) trying to sway us from the light. save us jeebus.

Seriously, what's up with this "testing faith" bullshiat?

Why would a deity want to test our faith? If he's omniscient, doesn't he already know what our choices will be? Won't we always make a known choice, which to God is the only choice, regardless what we do? If I go out and rape a truckfull of babies, won't God have known that I was going to do that? Why do people try to be good in God's eyes (if you can define "good") if your choices are basically pre-destined, regardless if it feels like "free will" or not?

Asked for a long time, I am sure. Still no valid response. I'll go back to being me and having actual free will.

Therefore, intelligent design is science.

I always thought 'What's the point?' As in, what's the point of putting us on this planet just so we are tested to see if we can get into heaven? Is there amusement from watching us beat the hell out of each other so everyone can get into their version of heaven? Why put us on this planet if the final goal is heaven? Wouldn't it be easier just to start at heaven?

And I always wondered: where are all the God-influenced events today like the ones centuries ago? In the Old and New Testement, unexplanable, Deity-directed stuff was happening almost everyday. So why not now? Where is it? If God is really all-powerful, why is it hard to at least tell everyone 'You're doing it wrong' in terms of religions. I think that it would definitely stop alot of people from harming others in the name of the 'right' religion.

And what was so special about the 33 years that Jesus showed up? Why live during that specific period? Why did he appear at that time and never physically again? Was the Earth on the brink of descruction and he had to save it? And if his word is the only way to be saved, what about the people in the other parts of the world who could not hear the word? Did they suffer because of a technicality?

Sorry for the questions, but I just wanted to put that out there.

Damn. It's hard to be pithy when you have the burden of 200 years of scientific debate and discovery on your side, rather than unquestioning superstition.

Well, see, PC, when your dogma can't stand the light or reason you make shiat up to dodge the issue. "Testing faith", like "the Lord moves in mysterious ways" are code phrases for "the writers of the Bible painted us into a corner and we don't know how to get out".

Bevets: Evolutionism is the tinfoil hat atheists wear to keep God out of their brainwaves.

Help! I'm possessed by the spirit of FloydA!

1) Variation exists in all populations.

2) Some of that variation is heritable.

3) Some of that heritable variation has an influence on survival and mate attraction.

4) Characteristics that increase the number of mating opportunities become more common each generation, while those that interfere with mating opportunities become less common.

5) DNA is a self-replicating molecule.

6) "Crossing over" during mitosis and meiosis alters the sequence of base pairs on a chromosome, which results in combinations of genes that had not previously existed.

7) Copying errors (mutations) can also arise, because the self-replication process is of high, but not perfect fidelity. Those mutations also increase the range of combinations of alleles in a gene pool.

8) "Sampling errors" can occur in populations that alter the frequency of the various alleles for reasons other than survival/reproduction advantages.

9) Migration of individuals from one population to another can lead to changes in the relative frequencies of alleles in the "recipient" population.

10) Populations of a single species that live in different locations are exposed to different environmental conditions that can "favor" different traits. These environmental differences will cause two populations to accumulate different suites of characteristics.

That's what evolution IS. If you have a problem with evolution, you have a problem with one or more of those ten points. Which one is it?

What Bevets always posts when confronted with a direct question: "We already played that hand here. I invite EVERYONE to go watch the replay and decide for yourself." A link within that statement will lead to one of a few threads where he never answers the question, and instead cites his own website as proof that he is right.

What Bevets should do: Explain which of those 10 statements is incorrect, and why.

NeverDrunk23: PC LOAD LETTER: Seriously, what's up with this "testing faith" bullshiat?

If I can avoid the circle-jerk for just a sec, I will take my chance with these....

The "testing faith" mantra comes from two sources: 1) idiot believers who think that evolution could have never happened, and 2) idiot atheists who think its cute to repeat it over and over again

Mankind has free will to do whatever it desires, but God only judges on what you do and what intentions you have. Think of it this way, if you like: God has a big "choose your own adventure" book with your name on it. In it, there are millions of choices on what you can do. You just dictate where the pages go.

We are placed on Earth because we are made in the image of God to enjoy the earth and live a life of reverence (this applies if you are in the Judeo-Christian-Islamic category). The final goal is irrelevant, because just getting to Heaven shouldn't be the reason for believing in a god or higher power.

Did they suffer because of a technicality?

If one reads through the Old and New Testaments, you can see where the number of times that God directly influenced peoples lives dwindled as time went on. Once Jesus Christ died and resurrected, that was pretty much all that needed to be done in the terms of directly influencing the course of humanity in such a way that humans could see it.

As it pertains to "who gets redemption"...if you ask anyone that has any clout within the faith, they will tell you that those who had no opportunity to hear the Word would be able to be redeemed if their souls were pure. If one has the opportunity to do it and then denies it, then they are up feces-creek. The true unforgivable sin is to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit, which would be in tune of seeing the love and grace of God right in your face and then denying it like a red-headed step-child.

Don't know if that does anything for ya, but I figured I'd give it a shot.

jonr: And nobody has answered me this:

I've never gotten a satisfactory answer for that one. But what's funny is to tell them that followers of these other gods believe(d) just as strongly in their gods as Christians believe in God. It boggles their minds. It's almost like they think followers of other gods were just stumbling around in the dark looking for God and settled on what they could find. Kinda like people who are shocked that babies born in other countries speak different languages.

Not really - as far as I know, God's pretty cool with the whole "you really don't want me in your life? Ok, I won't be" angle. Not that He gives up, just that He allows us all to make whatever choices we want.
