Northern Kentucky's Creation Museum is evolving into a larger facility.

Ha. And on the very first line. Nice way for the article to slip a subtle snark in. And for anyone truly puzzled on why this museum is doing so well, I recommend you rent 'Jesus Camp' at your local Blockbuster.

What in the world would they display in a creation museum? I can't imagine it would fill more than one room.

The first line is priceless.

The museum, which uses literal interpretations of the Bible to tell the earth's history, welcomed its 250,000th visitor five months after its opening on Memorial Day.

I wonder, though, how many of those people came to mock it. I mean, if I was there, I'd probably go just for laughs.

True. All you would really need is one room with this playing on a projector screen. What other explanation do you really need?

Atheists are losing their iron grip over the cultural discusion of Origins. Expect 'B B B But Science protests to follow. In contrast to Cathedrals of Atheism, the Creation Museum presents both sides of the conflict and allows visitors to think through the issue for themselves.

The county also voted to limit the sound coming from the museum.

There's nothing worse than noisy creationists.

It's as if the museum is undergoing a mutation to adapt to these additional external forces.

Do you even read the quotes you put on your webpage? Those are pro-evolution.

Welcome to the winning team. :)

There are some interesting videos out there, I suggest you check them out. They really go into bizarre detail about some things. Did you know that after Noah landed the Ark, various animals floated on random debris all around the world? :P

What amazes me about your trolling, is your compulsion to do it (this is my Weeners to bevets that I can recall so the irony is lost on me). I don't suppose you allow the thought that there are zealots on both sides of the fence to persuade you to calm the fark down?

In the end, it doesn't matter who is right. Believing in god or not, won't change the way things go. You breed, get old, and die. Life goes on. It won't change fark all to get all uppity.

Really. Both sides? And it's called the *Creation* Museum? So it's not biased at *all*?

Ok, so sky monster versus science isn't going to make a big difference when we have to figure out how to battle resistant bacteria, upcoming viral outbreaks, how to survive on a changing planet, how to get OFF this planet if we need to...

I agree with much of your post, but this last line is WHY we need to keep theology from being seen as an alternative to science. Besides, a belief in god and the acceptance of fact (like evolution) are two different things. When you start trying to sell apples as oranges...the whole world goes to hell.

It never ceases to amaze me how this ancient story is still making the rounds. More amazing still, is the number of Engineers and Scientists who have reconciled this fairy tale with the reality of Science.

The idea of creationism isn't particularly absurd considering the lack of information we have regarding the origins of the universe. That being said, Judeo-Christian creationism is outright rediculous and it's sad that in order to further its ends followers must willfully ignore sound science.

I though that a intelligent designer should have come up with a right sized museum right from the beginning.

Even their BUILDINGS adapt and evolve to meet the new needs but for living things it is impossible?

2007-11-12 9:42:11 AM
Better headline would have been: From the "there's a sucker born-again every minute guide book"

And as much as I'd like to take credit for that, i have to admit i got that from a bumper sticker.

2007-11-12 9:42:22 AM
Creationism is the tinfoil hat museums use to keep public funding out of their budgets.

2007-11-12 9:42:24 AM
The number of visitors isn't really surprising since so many churches in the Tri-State area have made numerous pilgrimages to the museum.

It's the same reason Passion of the Christ made loads of money -- a built-in audience who views attendance, even numerous times, as a key part of their faith. And if you don't go see it, can you really call yourself a good Christian?

And let's not forget -- this is the same area that gave us this humble display of Christianity:

It's OK to have an imaginary friend until you're 5 or 6 years old, but it seems a bit crazy to stay in touch him as an adult...
let alone to believe that he created the entire universe...
but these crazies expect me to believe it, and allow this fantasy to be taught in public schools?

That's just batshiat farking nuts.

2007-11-12 9:44:37 AM
I was going to make a lengthy, rational, post about this, but then realized the people at whom it'd be aimed are irrational and have stunningly short attention spans.

So I'll just direct people to TalkOrigins.org (^) and back away before I facepalm indentations into my forehead.
