The last few seasons have been pretty good. The worst season ever was 1985.
2002-10-03 09:31:40 AM
I agree.

Besides, SNL is cyclical. The skits that tend to be the funniest are the ones with recurring characters - and they take a few years to develop. Then, once the cast hit their peak, they take off to do movies (for better or worse) and new cast members have to go through the whole cycle again.

I agree, the last few seasons have been really good. I am always interested to see what they are going to come up with next. I will miss Will doing Celebrity Jeopardy, but I am sure something will come along that is just as funny.

Watch MadTV
(totally biased)
2002-10-03 11:18:51 AM
Femme - Why the bias, if I may ask?
2002-10-03 11:25:27 AM
Norm was the best News guy.
2002-10-03 11:53:58 AM
obb- a close friend is on it, I am shameless therefore I plug.
2002-10-03 12:11:16 PM
Is "unfunny" a real word, or an "unword?"
2002-10-03 12:11:35 PM
Any of you guys know Bill Brasky?
2002-10-03 12:12:04 PM
Long live Mr. Show, Kids in the Hall and Upright Citizens Brigade.
2002-10-03 12:12:08 PM
I can't believe people say this show isn't funny. The past few seasons have really been the best ever, and I can only assume that people who make statements like that don't ever watch the show.
2002-10-03 12:13:14 PM
I miss the Vacant Lot.
2002-10-03 12:13:32 PM
the last few years have been HORRIBLE!!!

current saturday night live formula: create an annoying character, being exceptionally annoying as that character, do that same skit over and over until someone is dumb enough to let you make of movie of that character.
2002-10-03 12:13:33 PM

Ok, idiots, HUMOR IS RELATIVE, and I don't really give a shiat if you think something is funny or not. Really. Please just shut up.
2002-10-03 12:13:33 PM
Bring back Joe Piscopo. He needs the work
2002-10-03 12:13:33 PM
Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey suck as the Weekend Update anchors.
2002-10-03 12:13:48 PM
YEP! Soo unfunny they got an emmy last year. Asshat.
2002-10-03 12:14:52 PM
2002-10-03 12:14:59 PM
Bashing SNL is so passe. It's not that bad.
2002-10-03 12:15:08 PM
Fallon/Fey aren't that bad. . . but I agree, Norm was better. Hell, Nealon was better.
2002-10-03 12:15:26 PM
Blenderkitty: I hope you weren't trying to be funny, because your post was the unfunniest one here.
2002-10-03 12:15:43 PM
SNL is the stinking, fetid, watery shiate of skit comedy.

The word GODAWFUL was invented to describe the work done by the "writers" on that show. Even the funniest people in the world instantly become unfunny when they step on that stage.
2002-10-03 12:16:11 PM
My only biatches about SNL are that they don't know when to give a charactor a rest. They ALWAYS take a great idea and do it over and over until I hate it.

And for godsakes, quit making SNL charactors into movies!!

Other than that, it has good years and bad, but over all it's been pretty entertaining.
2002-10-03 12:16:30 PM
Sean Connery - "The day is mine.........I'll take Famous Titties for \$400."
"Mr. Connery, thats Famous Title, not titties."

dont they do like 12 episodes a year?...what lazy asses
2002-10-03 12:17:28 PM
Oh, and I'll NEVER forgive them for canning Norm McDonald.
2002-10-03 12:17:32 PM
SNL is horrid. I turn it on every once in a while to remind myself how unfunny it is. Maybe medical science can resurect John Belushi?
2002-10-03 12:17:57 PM
Norm rocked. I still want to string that offended west coast NBC exec up by his balls.
2002-10-03 12:19:24 PM
Tina Fey is a cutie, too...
2002-10-03 12:20:26 PM

you're half right..(and half wrong)

Tina Fey is perfect as an anchor...witty...sly.
You can tell she writes, and gets the joke..
That unfunny bastard jimmy fallon is the one sucking the place up.
they needed a guy because they didn't trust giving it to the girl solo.
He's the Johnny Bravo of Weekend Update. He had the "messy/greasy/hip" hairdo, so he got the part.
Fallon would die without a cue card, and even laughs at himself
when he can't even read the goddamn words printed there!

conclusion: she's great...he blows
2002-10-03 12:20:28 PM
SNL has become poisened by MTV, and Jimmy Fallon is NOT funny
2002-10-03 12:20:38 PM
YEP! Soo unfunny they got an emmy last year.

Yeah, brilliant vindication attempt there ass clown, Everybody Loves Raymond got an Emmy too.
2002-10-03 12:20:49 PM
Longweasel: I hope that was sarcasm....That show has sucked for the last 5 or 6 years. It all went down hill after Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, David Spade and Phil Hartman all left or died.
2002-10-03 12:21:13 PM
Bass555 - Agreed. And pretty sharp, too. She writes all that material herself.
2002-10-03 12:21:22 PM
SNL really fell flat after the big mass defection for film, but Ferrell did do a damn good job of bringing it back from the dead. Think about what it -takes- to do good -live- topical sketch. You need to be able to think on your feet, follow a script, -and- do at least one decent impersonation. Not to mention being able to stand on a stage and know deep down in your soul that there're millions of people who will decide whether or not _you_ suck.
2002-10-03 12:21:40 PM
The show is going to be next to unwatchable without Will Farrell. He saved their a$$es from being completely unfunny.
2002-10-03 12:22:04 PM
sucks, saw some of the recent episodes on comedy central, lame.
2002-10-03 12:22:29 PM
Dana Carvey could use the work, but I think Tracy Morgan should play W.
2002-10-03 12:22:34 PM

Will Sasso left MadTV. So now it will suck more.
2002-10-03 12:22:36 PM

Ok, idiots, HUMOR IS RELATIVE, and I don't really give a shiat if you think something is funny or not. Really. Please just shut up.

So, we should all just keep our opinions to ourselves. That will make for an interesting forum. Sheesh.
2002-10-03 12:22:47 PM
you got a love the computer repair guy
2002-10-03 12:23:11 PM
I dunno...kinda like Strongbad in a way. I tune in every week to see if i will laugh, and every once in a while i do.
I guess nobody can be consistant.

2002-10-03 12:23:27 PM
"Lately, producers have emphasized recurring character sketches over original material, under the theory that the familiar is more comforting."

Anyone else snicker at this? Lately?
2002-10-03 12:23:30 PM
I saw a couple of recent SNL episodes lately. Usually I just watch SNL reruns on Comedy Central since I'm usually asleep or Farking by the time SNL comes on NBC. The show SUCKED. The sketches were lame. The characters were teh ghey. I present as examples:
--the "Jarett's Room" webcam sketch. If it's not camwhores, it's not a webcam.
--the one-legged chick. Ha ha, one leg! So funny!
--One sketch I saw with this flying Olympic skiier who did stuff like bring peace to the Middle East while he was flying by. Yeah. Real funny. For seventh graders.
--Another sketch I saw about a middle school sleepover. Probably funny, again, only to middle schoolers
--Weekend Update with Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey. Not totally dismal, but still, no Kevin Nealon. And Tina, loose the geek glasses. That is SO 2001.

"I'll take The Rapists for $200.."
2002-10-03 12:23:59 PM
Uncle Jemimah's Malt Mash Liquor!
2002-10-03 12:24:19 PM
SNL is still good occasionally, like most TV.

Sean Connery " I'll take the rapists"
Alex "That's Therapists"
2002-10-03 12:24:27 PM
I'd go down on Cheri Oteri until her head caved in. I miss her.
2002-10-03 12:24:53 PM
Hey anyone else notice that the Strongbad song "To the Limit" is almost exactly the same as "Fanatic of the B Word" by De La Soul?

I just noticed that. Weird.
2002-10-03 12:24:54 PM
beat me by a few seconds
