I had been working in a pretty populated building for about five years. After a recent renovation to our restroom facilities, I had to go and what happened in there I will never forget. After I used the urinal, some otherworldly "spirit" flushed it without my touching it. I ran out as fast as I could without washing my hands. To this day, I urinate in jars in my office.

Ok, my two cousins and I were hanging out at our grandparents house, no one else was there. There is a bedroom that connects directly to the kitchen, we were watching TV when we could hear in the kitchen the chairs moving back and forth from the table. The noise is a very distinct noise if you ever hear it, you know it is the kitchen chairs. Our grandparents were out of town that weekend and all the doors were locked, we freaked out and closed the bedroom door. Only to hear the chairs moving through out the night. We all know what happened but no one else believes us and to this day I refuse to go to that back bedroom by the kitchen alone.

About 2-3 days after my best friend had passed away I was standing in my kitchen on the phone at around 6pm, I heard voices coming from my basement(I heard them over my phone call). It was not unbelievable to think someone had broken in since it was a walkout. I grabbed the pistol from a drawer in the kitchen and went to go find out what was going on. On a side note, I have NEVER walked around my house with a loaded pistol before this. This voice was down there. I went down there searched the place, nothing was out of place and the door was locked. It freaked me out but I never thought 'Hey must have been a ghost' until about a year later I was talking to my father and I mentioned my little search and the voices. He just told be about how this has happened to him before when loved ones have passed away and it just take the house a few days to be quiet. More then this happened after my friend passed away. To this day if more then 5 of the 'group' is in one room and it has a lamp with more then 3 light bulbs in it one will burn out. The light bulb thing has happened countless times, It has happened enough that we caught on to the trend. I should note the this friend was like my brother, not just a friend.

/Not Crazy

I met this kid once that could apparently see and speak to ghosts. It was really freaky how accurately he could describe all the visions he was having.

Then it turned out that I was a ghost too! It was less freaky after that.

I had to re-image about 100 PCs and about 20 of them did not work. Turns out they had some oddball OS on them originally and they had to be low level reformatted because Ghost couldn't process their MBRs or some such crap.

True story.

Ghost in my Pants!!! Captured - In a Jar

Description

One day I was in this spooky old library doing research on the occult. I had run across some Celtic runes in an old book I wanted to check out so I typed them in on one of the old computers they had there. I now believe those computers were haunted - and heres why....

The runes were as follows: PA MEL AAN DER SON I have no idea what these mean - I still don't to this day because what happened next was one of the most frightening experiences of my life. The search I entered turned up some pictures of a naked blond girl with huge boobies (apparently the runes didn't have any internet matches).

Well anyway - all of a sudden when I saw the pictures some insanely huge THING appeared in my pants. I hit it, and beat it, and whacked the heck out of it. I knew some old demon-releasing rituals and I said them as I tried to beat the ghost down in my pants. It left after a while - but deposited some disgusting sticky residue. I felt a really weird surge of ghostly energy all through my body when the thing in my pants decided to leave.

I took the pants home, and put them in a jar and sealed it with lots of protective spells written on it and such. I don't want this thing in my house and I sure don't want my mom to find it!!!!

Since then I have been visited in my dreams by this same woman - and I have a recurring nightmare of the ghost reappearing again, and me doing battle with it - and I wake up in a big mess of sticky stuff.

Please take this curse away from me!!!

Jmast7: Okay, I'll bite. Not really a "ghost" story, but I posted this to a ghost stories newsgroup a very long time ago:

When I was about ten years old, I slept in a "Captain's Bed". It was a bit taller than the usual bed with room for a couple of shelves and a few drawers underneath it. I was prone to tossing and turning when I slept so there would be many a night that I would roll out of bed and be woken up by the meter and a half drop to the floor.

Now I don't know if this was a nightmare or not, but one night I awoke to find myself on the floor, tangled up in my blanket. As I turned my head, I found myself staring into a black featurless face with the exception of two glowing, red eyes. I screamed and the "thing" scampered away, moving quickly out the door of my room and down the hall. Terrified, I attempted to get back into my bed but something was preventing me from doing so. It seemed like there was an invisible wall between me and my bed. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness and I began to compose myself, I realized that I had actually not fallen out of bed at all and that the "wall" was simply the wall of my room that the bed was up against.

Now, I don't know if I dreamt the whole thing or not but several things I do know:

1. If I did dream the whole thing, then I awoke to find myself standing in bed and sleepclawing at my bedroom wall. This is the only time anything like this has ever happened to me.

2. It did feel as though I had fallen out of bed - something literally jarred me so that I felt I was awake.

3. This experience, even if it was a dream, scared me enough to burn itself into my memory for twenty-three years.

Just my little experience.

Sounds like a simple case of sleep paralysis / hallucination. Google it up.

I work in a jail. Sometimes, when I work in 1 particular housing unit, the lights will come on in the showers and the water will run. This happens after midnight when all the inmates are locked in their cells for the night. The only thing I can figure is that it is the ghost of a guy who managed to kill himself in that unit with a bed sheet and the toilet. He was very determined.

This is from my brother so who knows if he was telling the truth. When he was 16 he took a job out on one the islands in Boston harbor that was once a prison in the civil war and is also famously haunted. The island also has tunnels that lead to a fort in the middle. He said he was working the concessions one day and a lady came blasting out of the tunnels screaming "get off me, get off me" he and a couple of rangers ran over to help the lady and see what was going on, she was rolling on the ground at this point. When they got over to her and tried to help her up he said he felt something push him right off his feet when he reached down to help her up, when he looked around the two rangers were also flat on there backs also with a "WTF" expression on their faces. They proceeded to help the lady up who was hysterical at this point and that was the end of it.

The time: Fourth of July 2000
The place, Scargo Tower, the highest point on cape cod.

Scargo Tower is a classic stone watchtower. It's a stone structure that goes up to fifty feet high with a single iron spiral staircase. The thing is open until 6 PM when iron bars are drawn across the door.

The hill it's built on allows a view of the entire south side beach, and thus was a frequent spot to watch fireworks from. On this particular night, there were four beach shows, one barge show, and one show celebrating the 80th birthday of the town's patron.

For three hours myself and all these other people watch all the fireworks from hill with a view. As the last celebration winds down and the people begin to pack up their picnic gear and leave, we all hear a shriek like a banshee howl coming from the top of the tower. This shriek is followed by a sickening crunch. Flashlights and headlights blaze into the darkness, searching around the tower and in the woods below the hill for what they believe is a suicide attempt. There's nothing there. No body, no blood, and the iron bars on the tower are secure and unmoved.

Fear leads to suspicion and people begin slinging accusations at each other. We're all getting into the spirit of fear and panic when we hear the same sound a second time. A banshee wail and a crunch, and once again nothing is at the tower's base or in the woods.

At this moment, the majority of people, myself included, decided we've probably overstayed our welcome and beat a retreat down the road back into town.

When I was still very young my mother took me to visit my aunt down in Texas. She had JUST bought a new house and wanted my mother to see it.

From what my mother and aunt say, they heard me talking in the master bedroom. After a couple minutes they decided to go in and check on me. I guess I was sitting near the window with a smile and waved at them, then got up and left the room. In the living room they had asked me what I was doing, and I said I was talking to the "old lady". They asked me what she said, and I guess she has "told me" she was glad to meet me and asked me how I was. Neither my mother or aunt thought much about it, and we left soon after to go back to the hotel.

The next day my aunt called my mother and had spoken to the family that had sold the house. I guess their old mother had died in the master bedroom a few months back.

I don't remember the situation so it doesn't freak me out, but it still makes my aunt shiver.

When I was a kid (around 11 or 12) I shared a bunk bed with my sister. It was on of those L shaped ones, and I was on top. For about a week my sister (3 years younger) refused to go into our bedroom. She said she saw a hand in the corner, and we all laughed and made fun of her. Well one night after I wrote in my diary I put it under my pillow, and suddenly got this scared sickening feeling. I slowly turned around, and in the gap between the wall and the bed was a black wrinkly hand. The left hand. I didn't believe it was there, so I wrapped a sheet around my hand and grabbed it, and it was absolutely icy. I threw all of my covers at the hand and ran into my parents bedroom too afraid to speak. I could never sleep in that bed again, so my parents had to sell it.

I don't know what it was, a really intense dream, a hallucination, or something else. But a few days later a friend was braiding my hair in that room, and a doll flew out of the bed across the room. I still have the occasional dream about the hand, but in the dream my only concern is to take it to someone to prove it is real.

ramathorn83: I traveled to New York City back in March. During my last day of the trip, I went to the New York Public Library to do some genealogical research. When I was looking up information on one of the computers on the 2nd floor (I think it was the 2nd) with respect to my mom's side, I was pushed from behind. I was sitting, no one was behind, nor did anyone walk behind me when this happened.

Yeah, the New York Public Library is definitely haunted...I used to work there. One day I needed to go down to the basement and shelve some books, so I went. But while I was down there I felt some strange presence.

Then all of a sudden, some of the index cards started flying all over the place. I was pretty creeped out at that point, but then I turned around and saw the ghost right there! I screamed and ran back up the stairs.

Luckily three guys from a nearby university believed my story and came out to investigate. I wonder where they are now.

My wife and I had multiple strange things happen in our old house. The person who lived in the house right before we did died there. We had her grandmother's bedroom chest of drawers in the back bedroom. My wife had stuff fly off of shelves at her a couple of times. I was once in the shower and thought my wife had walked in (you know that feeling you get when someone comes in a room even if you can't see them?) and my shampoo bottle got hit knocking it in towards me in the shower. I thought she was just trying to be sneaky but as it turns out she really was in the living room watching TV.
On completely unrelated note I once woke up to a bright light at the end of my bed. I heard my grandmother's laughter and then her voice started talking and saying she loved me very much and not to worry about her because she was going to a better place. When I started to do the normal "what the fark is happening??!?!?!?!" that anyone would do in that situation the light just got very bright and everything seemed just fine. The next morning I was awoken by my mom calling to say grandma died last night. I would think I was crazy but I was talking to some family members at the funeral and the same thing happened to my cousin who was stationed down in Texas at the time. I'm not religious AT ALL but I do have to admit that after that night I do believe in some sort of after life. Not only that but even years later just thinking about that light can still make me perfectly calm and happy regardless of what situation I might be in.

One of my friends hooked up a bluetooth mouse to my computer and was farking with me.

Ha! My wife got a new IBM ThinkPad from work and once in a while it would inject characters into whatever text field she was on. And not just any characters: They would often be correctly-spelled words. And sometimes these words were sort of in context.

Couldn't figure out what was going on.

Then one day she realized that the speech-to-text thingummy was on and it was interpreting whatever was coming through the built in microphone.

So there was a presentation at my college last year by this well known spirit something or other... (not a believer myself you can tell)

Anyways at the beginning of his lecture he asked for anyone that believed in ghosts to raise their hands, and about half the people did. He than asked anyone who had personally seen a ghost to keep their hands up (about 10-15 people) and than he asked anybody who had a sexual experience with a ghost to keep their hands up, and one guy in the back did.

So the lecturing guy asked the guy to come down to the stage saying he has been giving his talk for about 5 years and never had one person say they had sex with a ghost before.

The guy from the back of the room said "Ghost? Oh! I thought you said Goats"

/not a ghost story

I saw it (him?) three times in my old Florida house.

I was lying in my bed wide awake. I had finished reading, my coffee was wmpty, and my girlfriend was asleep next to me. It was dark, but I saw something move in the shadows off to the right of my bed. It was as if a patch of darkness had just suddenly 'stood up'. I saw something about the size of a small boy, but seemed to be composed entirely of shadow. The shadow walked around to the foot of the bed, then turned it's head and looked at me. I saw two glimmering points of red light where eyes would be. I briefly got the image of a small child, lost and confused, and a little angry.

It just stood there and looked at me for a moment. The head seemed to tilt a little, as if it didn't understand what it was seeing. Then it walked ahead around a corner, and into the master bathroom. The shower doors rattled.

When my girlfriend woke up hours later, I was still awake. She wanted to know why I had showered in the middle of the night, and left the bathroom such a mess. There was water everywhere. I couldn't answer her.

That was the first time I saw him.

Exploring abandoned buildings is a hobby of mine, particularly abandoned institutions and industrial sites. There was a massive old church – took up a city block – in Fort Worth I couldn’t resist exploring. A friend and I went together, inspecting as many rooms as we had time for on all three floors. The classrooms were the spookiest. We found an old carpet crumpled up in the middle of one, with weird looking amoeba like creatures swarming all over it. They were translucent, like jellyfish the size of a golf balls. And they were moving; making wet noises like macaroni and cheese sounds when you stir it up. Another classroom emitted such an abhorrent smell we wouldn’t go in. We ran out of the church when we heard footsteps coming up the opposite end of the hallway. They were slow and plodding at first, gradually speeding up into what sounded like a full run. We ran the fark out of there. I didn’t look back, but my friend said he did. Still don’t know if I believe him, but he said he saw a man in 1930’s looking attire rounding the top of the stairs just as we began descending our set of stairs. I’ve explored many buildings, and have weird tales from only a handful of them. This was one of the weirdest.

2007-10-31 1:01:36 PM
It was a rainy night back in March 1993, when I was taking one of my area's more notoriously-dangerous roads to a friend's house. I'd accidentally crossed over partway into the opposite lane, when I saw some oncoming traffic. I panicked, and overcorrected.

I lost control of the car. I closed my eyes and braced myself for the worst. I whalloped a tree, kept going, hit a second tree, then rolled over twice. The car came to a halt, upside-down.

The car's engine ground to a halt, and the only sound was the rain hitting the undercarriage. I was a little bit banged up, but the only thought that came to mind, having watched too many car crashes on TV, was that the car was going to blow up.

Needless to say, I freaked out. I was trapped, upside-down, by my own safety belt, and I screamed for help.

I heard someone walk up to my side of the car. He opened the door, and helped me get out of the car. He was a man with dark hair and a beard, and seemed a bit put out at all of this. Thankful, I gave him a hug.

A girl I knew from school happened along and pulled over while all this was going on. She came out and checked on me, and then told me that she was getting an ambulance for me (the firehouse was only a couple of miles away). While this exchange took place, I lost track of the guy who pulled me out of the car.

Eventually, the ambulance and a firetruck arrived, and I was put on a stretcher. I talked to my friend from school, and thanked her for helping me out. I told her that I wanted to thank the guy who pulled me out, too.

"What guy?" she asked.

"The guy who was pulling me out of the car when you were just getting here." I replied.

"I didn't see anybody but you, 'MCStymie'".

"Then who pulled me out of the car?"...

/No one matching the description of the guy lived anywhere near the scene of the accident, and there were no other cars on the road other than mine and that of my friend...

On this very night, ten years ago, along this very stretch of road in a dense fog just like this. I saw the worst accident I ever seen. There was this sound, like a garbage truck dropped off the Empire State Building... And when they pulled the driver's body from the twisted, burning wreck. It looked like this...

every place i've ever lived but one has had spirits mucking about in it. the current one, we've a cemetary about 100 yards from the front door, most recent grave dates to 1921. also my father passed in the house, and EVERYONE in the family has seen his spirit walking around (even my brother in law, who does not believe AT ALL, or didn't until he saw pop). my niece who is 3 frequently asks about the lady at the front window, and why she looks so sad (we live out in the STICKS, it's not as if someone would be walking by). i can go on and on. but i won't.

I saw Elvis once.

School trip for the chess team, only about 8 of us counting our teacher, all in a big van. Van overheated so we pulled over on the interstate.
Cadillac pulls up and a fat guy with huge sideburns gets out and looks under the hood. After a few minutes he had the stuck thermostat removed and told us to buy a new one and install it but we'd be okay for now.
It was pretty hot and he was sweating so I offered him an ice cold Coke, he took it and said, "Thank you, Thank you very much."
Hopped in the Caddy and was gone.

Personally, I have seen strange things at my parent's old house. A window for our garage was painted black on both sides, so people could not see into the garage (it was a five car garage with a ton of stuff in it, no need to advertise).

One day my family and I swung back home to pick up fishing gear for a day at the lake. Immediately as my uncles went inside the house, I saw what looked like a green face just... "floating" in one of the windows. I don't think I have ever been honestly more frightened in my life. There is physically no way these guys could have just ran into the garage and scared me, these were some B I G dudes (one of my uncles had the world's biggest biceps for a period of time, and most of that was NOT muscle!).

I always thought I heard things coming from my basement and would often hear my name around the time I was thirteen coming from below. Around the time I turned sixteen those instances stopped.

I wish I was kidding, and I am still not completely sure (I don't just "pin" it on being a ghost or anything), but I'm sure as shiat glad my parents recently moved out of that place!

One night my wife was "in the mood" so she kissed my cheek and rolled over to put her eyeglasses on her night stand before the fun began. As she rolled over to put them down she screamed bloody murder and while laying down, she somehow jumped over me and curled up on the floor on my side of the bed. When I asked her what the hell was wrong she was crying and screaming "do you see her? DO YOU SEE HER?" I looked over and saw nothing. She then described what she saw.

When she put her glasses on the nightstand she felt a hand grab her arm. Thinking it was our daughter She looked at where the hand came from and it was a little girl about 5 years old with a pale white face, sores all over it, SCREAMING with an overstretched mouth WITHOUT SOUND, and her hair was flying all over the place like she had a box fan in front of her. (kinda like the ghosts in the Exorcism of Emily Rose....which my wife had never seen and freaked the hell out when she saw it.)

Check this out. I used to work at a office supply chain store 3rd shift, 10pm-6am, when I was a teenager. We couldn't leave the store until the management came in in the morning, and two of the three guys working in the store smoked, so we would go into the basement to have a smoke a few times a night. The basement was as big as a smaller underground parking lot, with a store room in the middle of it. On one side was the area where out store kept stock, shelving, and other crap. The other side of the basement was barren, and had no lights. It was over that side that the room to the boiler room was, as well as an old hallway that had a few unused rooms branching off of it. An old locker room, with showers, and a supply room with old Halloween decorations. We explored these rooms in subsequent trips. But the ghostly experience happened while we were checking out the boiler room which is on the furthest side, and completely in the pitch black dark. We opened the heavy metal door, and we all went inside the room. One of my co workers notices something strange... he proceeded to prove his thory true. If all three of us were in the room, the door would start slowly closing. If one of us was outside, on the other side of the doorway, the door wouldn't move. Spooky shiat. So after poking around a few minutes, we hear children laughing. Now mind you, it's about 3am, and we are in an area where if there were a door, it would lead out into the ally behind the store. Also, we considered the tv might be on in the break room which was kind of above us. Neither checked out. There was also no doubt about what we heard, as soon as I heard the laughing, I saw that the other two guys were listening and whispering about what was that as much as I was. Of course I was about to shiat a brick, so I shouted at it... "HELLO?" Umm yea, they kept on laughing as if I hadn't said a word. It sounded like they were playing. At 3am. In a boiler room. SO cut to a few days later. We are down there smoking cigarettes under the lights in the lighted area of the basement, and there is this metal panel type of thing mounted on the wall in a dimly lit area of the basement. I was looking in that direction when I noticed that I couldnt see it for a few seconds, and the I could. Understand I could only see it barely, because it's metal, and it reflects light. I assume something walked by it, between it and myself, blocking out the view. Something was down there. So I kept working there, and we would still go down for smokes, and make these nervous jokes. This experience changed my life. Ghosts exists, there is just no doubt to me. I think they are energies left over that can manifest in different ways. They definitely have a presence.

I'm interested in this stuff, but am very skeptical. I'm positive there are things around us that we will never understand or be able to explain. I don't know if they're "ghosts", but the topic is very interesting to me.

Hey meteorite, I've actually heard of that happening to a family I know. The grandfather died one night and his very young grandchildren were woken up by him saying goodbye, many states away. The way I was told the story still gives me goosebumps.
