I was thinking this morning about how funny it would be if the Sawks sweep CR, since all this talk has been about how great the Rockies are playing and they are on such a roll.

It would be funny, but I'd rather have a bit of drama. Watching the Sox win against the Cards was somewhat of an anti-climax.

That wouldn't be funny, just predictable. Funny would be a team with 1/3 of the others payroll, roll them up and spit them out in a sweep.

A team that's one 21 of it's last 22 is being compared to David?

Kruk has the Sox winning in 5, and he said he "wouldn't be surprised" if they swept.

Most writers have Sox in 6. I personally have Sox in 5 because of the pitching in games 3 and 4 are up in the air. Whoever mashes in those games wins, unless Dice-K comes up big.

My kinda-serious prophecies:
- Beckett pitches 2 wins, 1 to 3 ER total, gets WS MVP.
- Well-rested Schilling wins game 2.
- During the day off, all talk is about "Rox Reeling" and Yankees manager meetings.
- Ortiz gets at least 1 pinch hit in the two Colorado games.
- Dice-K gets a hit in game 3 and looks funny in a batting helmet.
- No idea what will happen in game 4, but McCarver will remind us once more that he "Sure hopes Okajima doesn't get hit with a ball off the bat."

Ok, so where is the appropriate viewing venue for game one?

I have to be at work at 830 the next day. My options are: Pizza/beer at the neighbor's house

Local watering hole with the cheap beer and the friendly bar tenders.

Option 1. will cost me less and make me more apt to show up to work sober(ish) tomorrow. However, option two sounds like more fun.

I can wear sweatpants and/or jammies to both of these places.

I agree with this, I'm going to a local brew pub. More fun when there is a HR and the whole place erupts, not just a few friends.

The Rockies must love that once again they are not being taken seriously. That is the same mistake every team has made since mid September. They have not dropped a game in the playoffs yet and pundits pick the Sox in an easy series right after the Sox struggled to make it out of the last round. This series is primed for a colossal upset. I guess we will have to wait and see what Sox team shows up. The one that played the last three games is pretty unbeatable but the one that showed up the three games prior is very vulnerable.

I see it going like this.

Game 1 - Sox win
Game 2 - Sox win
Game 3 - Rox win
Game 4 - Rox win
Game 5 - Sox win
Game 6 - Sox win

Though if the Rox can take Beckett in Game 1 and win, which isn't completely unreasonable given their inter-league games earlier in the season and the Rox kicked butt even with Beckett on the mound, then they might just take the Sox for a rough ride.

I guess we'll see. It all depends on what happens tonight.

Throw. The regular season. Away. Especially one three game series.

The Yankees were undefeated against the Indians in the regular season.

I think it's totally unreasonable to think they will knock Beckett around, given his post season status - especially this year. He has shown nothing that hints at a possible bad outing.

But I see where you are coming from. If the Rox beat Beckett - and not the bullpen behind him - they will have a huge wave of momentum.

You can throw the regular season away if you want, but the truth is the Rockies got 10 hits and six runs off Beckett in five innings. At Fenway. When he looked unstoppable (he was 9-0 up until that point).

That said:

a) I'd put my money on Beckett, and
b) I think the only way the Rockies win this series is if they win Game one. That would show that their momentum is still going, they are not a second-tier team compared to the AL, and that they can beat the Sox best pitcher.

Beckett is the only stumbling block on the Rockies' road to championship glory.
If they win tonight, be afraid Boston.

I was pulling for the Brewers to win it all but that didn't work out. I think I am stuck bandwagoning the Rockies since I am from Colorado and Boston fans are wicked retarded.

too bad boston isn't in high altitude

The big wild card for me in this series is the DH factor. I think it favors the Rockies much more than the Red Sox.

Also, I think Garrett Atkins will be the hero tonight as he takes Beckett yard twice. You heard it here first.

Rockies in 5

Agreed. Game One is almost like a Game Seven here, IMO. Beckett shuts them down, the momentum is crushed and Colorado will probably fall back to earth and get pummeled out of the series. Colorado beats the Sox' ace, the momentum is still there, they've proven they can beat the Sox best, and they'll have at least a split going back to Denver for three games - tough for Boston to come back.

That said, go Sox!

2007-10-24 6:44:32 PM
April Records:

Rockies 10-16
Red Sox 16-8

Records Since May 1st:

Rockies 86-57
Red Sox 87-61

Which, doesn't mean shiat right now.
Go Rockies!!
