Went on an Inside Passage cruise a couple of years ago. Remember passing under that bridge as we left Vancouver. Can't. Stop. Laughing.

Raindog [Waaaaay back at the start of the thread]

Actually, if he had been trying to get on the boat and had managed to make it without being nailed by any number of crew members, he could have vanished into the crowd quite easily.....

Mopslik: I must have missed the part where the US bought all "com" addresses. Last time I checked, "com" meant "commercial", as in "commercial news site".

Yes, I understand how top level domains work. It just seems asinine that a Canada-centric news site would choose .com over .ca in my opinion.

It's like a black fly in my chardonay.

I also think it's asinine the the USPS gave up .gov in favor of .com so what do I know? The company I work for has both .ca and .com registered, which seems like a sensible investment for a Canadian company to me.

There was some messiness up here a while back with getting some of the .ca domains -- new regulations and licensing, among other things. Plus, most folks that I talk to that aren't the most Internet savvy don't seem to realize that there are different endings than .com to start with. They're probably catering to those less-informed.

I agree with you on the USPS decision -- it makes total sense for government agencies to use .gov as their domain.
