Mixed metaphor. Mangled syntax. Minced words.

/I don't know why; that's just the way it is

Well, he DID come up with a good one at the 2004 convention.

[on why many blacks vote Democratic]

"We never got the acres and we never got the mule, so we decided to ride this donkey as far as it would take us!"

2007-10-01 3:37:34 PM
This needs the "ironic" tag. Just 'cause.

I hate him. Black friends tell me all the time how embarassed they are to have Sharpton and Jackson as the world famous exanples of black leaders.

Well, duh. It's a plain as the nose on your sleeve.

What a douchebag.

"We still have mountains to climb, but at least this is closer to an even playing field," said the Rev. Al Sharpton, who helped organize last week's protest.

How about we start with what he actually said...Not that having the actual quote will change any minds here.

A guy I used to work with went to Obama's senate inauguration. According to him, Jackson approached the stage to speak. Obama's staff did not allow Jackson on stage under direct orders from Obama.

/Of course I don't have sources, so don't ask.

Actually, that reminds me of something my dad used to say: That some people go beyond beating a dead horse to dragging a dead horse through a knothole.

Which raises all sorts of interesting images.

You know, I often lied or did other things I'm now ashamed of to avoid admitting the truth to my parents about various things. But I never hacked off half my hair, smeared dog crap in my face and crawled into a trash sack. Not that I remember, at least.

Sharpton is an example of those dumbasses who actually spend most of their lives as dumbasses, but at some point, read a few books, and think they're ready to edumacate the world on how we need to change.

//edumacate me oh wise one

Sharpton, in my opinion, is burning his bridge at both ends.

2007-10-01 7:29:42 PM
By definition: a combination of two or more metaphors that together produce a ridiculous effect

Yep, that qualifies.

A couple of others:

He's a loose cannon who always goes off the deep end.

Footloose and fancy-pants.

He often shot his mouth off in the dark.

A rolling stone gathers no bird in the hand.

It was playing with fire in the belly.

/not mine, because I'm not really particularly smart, but my google-fu is strong
