What about Little Billy??!?!?

Hey, that's all water under the bridge now.

Teddy Kennedy's personal trials:

1. The day they ran out of gin at the country club.
2. Got windburn while sailing.
3. Ran out of bourbon in the Congressional Cafeteria.
4. "What do you mean I voted for the war? That can't count, I was drunk!"
5. Maria forgot to stock up on vodka. Called INS and had her deported.
6. Windmills? "But you don't understand, that's where I sail!"
7. Had to drink Glen Livet. They were out of McCallum.

A little bit of trivia you probably didn't know -- "Chappaquiddick" actually means "big channel with small bridge".

It's true.

A politician told me.

It's called "If I Drove That Car off That Bridge."

I knew this would be nothing more than a circle-jerk thread for the usual rightie FARKers. Shooting fish in a barrel, etc.

Not submitter.

Hey, you don't have to be a right-winger to make fun of Teddy, you just have to have a sense of humor.

Does anyone really think he's a great guy?

2007-09-17 6:49:51 PM
The people that keep electing him obviously do. Or, they're just too stupid to live.

Ahh, Teddy Kennedy. Along with Carter and Noam Chomsky, where would the right be without long-obsolete people to demonize. At least they get a second crack at Hillary, I guess.

Or we're doing it 'cause he generally stands with us, we find his personal life unimportant, or we *love* to annoy Republicans by re-electing him.

I think Ted Kennedy's an ass. But just like I'd never say that McCain has had no personal trials, despite what I might think of him, I won't say that Kennedy's life has been easy. If both my brothers had not only been killed, but murdered, I probably would have been completely farking messed up.

Thesis: If two members of your family are assassinated, it'll fark ya up some. Counts as a personal trial.

/he's still a pork-munching ass.

Hey, I have a great Ted Kennedy joke:

Ted Kennedy walks out of a bar.

Thank you! I'm here all week!

Also, say what you want, but he delivers the Pork. He's not quite on the Ted Stevens/Robert Byrd level, but he's at least an all-star to those Hall of Famers.

/Saw Teddy in a bar fight once.
//Wonder if that'll make the book.

Kennedy is to the Right-Wing asshats as the Mohamed cartoon is to radical Islam fundamentalists.

PC LOAD LETTER: Ahh, Teddy Kennedy. Along with Carter and Noam Chomsky, where would the right be without long-obsolete people to demonize. At least they get a second crack at Hillary, I guess.

Long obsolete? Last time I checked, he was still a powerful and influential senator....He's not exactly standing on the sidelines...

Mary Jo Kopechne is dating Laura Bush's old boyfriend. The one she ran down and killed. Yeah, that one.

2007-09-17 7:22:19 PM
Boojum2k: Does anyone really think he's a great guy?

I'm about as progressive as they get, and it annoys me that he used whatever political clout he had to avoid a murder charge.

Doesn't matter which party you belong to.

And of course, the other thing about Kennedy that annoys me is that he's pretty much camped out in the Capitol as a career politician.

The honorable thing to do would have been to give up that power, perhaps ten or twenty years ago.

And don't give me that sh*t about all the great things he did.

The thing that makes me mad is he gets more tail than anyone in this room. Drunk or sober.

District attorney submittard wants to prosecute Ted Kennedy?
So you'll be filing those charges with the court soon? Any day now, right? Right? Let it go losers.

It's a blatant example of corruption.

Like someone said earlier, it really doesn't matter what party you belong to, the guys an ass who used his clout to beat a murder charge.

/I didn't know he had fanboys

"I think Ted Kennedy's an ass."

You should have stopped there. ;-)

"But just like I'd never say that McCain has had no personal trials, despite what I might think of him, I won't say that Kennedy's life has been easy."

To my knowledge, McCain hasn't murdered any interns... yet. While I don't agree with McCain on a number of issues, and most certainly won't be voting for him, I respect the hell out the man. I believe that he has both character and morals.

Ted Kennedy left a woman drowning while he spent several hours formulating what the cover-up would be. People like Rovian will always defend the indefensible as long as they agree with the person politically, and therefore Kennedy will keep getting elected.

"...If both my brothers had not only been killed, but murdered, I probably would have been completely farking messed up."

Yeah, it sucks. They were both far, far better men than he is. Unfortunately, their deaths made for a long and pathetic career in the Senate for Ted Kennedy.

Boojum2k: you just have to have a sense of humor.

Yeah, I think the fact that both our President and VP have been busted for DUI repeatedly is hysterically funny, and that Laura Bush killed her HS boyfriend while drunk even funnier!!

Oh wait, it's only funny when we're talking about Teddy and Mary Jo Kopekne.

Kennedy's a drunk!!

I like you, so I'll say this once... you're starting to come off as "mommy's special little flower who's having problems with grown folks' business". A zip of the lip might save you.

But hey, this is America, right? Rock on!

2007-09-17 8:51:56 PM
When asked if he would be writing a chapter on the Kopechne event, Kennedy said "I'll cross that bridge when I get to it."

I used to feel sorry for the Kennedys, inasmuch as they have had a helluva lot of tragedy in their lives. JFK, Bobby, JFK Jr, Michael, etc...

But then I read up on the history of the family and they are just a bunch of scumbags from day one. Lobotomizing a "special" daughter because her free-spirited ways were an embarrassment, moonshining, insider trading, adultery...hell, except for the "untimely" deaths, they're just like America's other crime family, The Bushes.

People, people. Why are we fighting. We should be gathering around the common bond- Ted Kennedy is rich, self-absorbed, fat, drunk and a worthy object of ridicule.

Let's stop bickering about who drowned who, and get back to the real business of mocking this flatulent beast.

But he made it to 75 so far. Instead wasting time exercising, eating healthy, he's chowed down what he wanted, drank how much he wanted. Teddy must adhere to the Red Skelton exerise plan who said "The only exercise I get is as a pallbearer for my friends who exercise."

Not to mention Joe, Jr being killed in WWII. Maybe that's why hes so fond of the drink. Or maybe its because he's Irish.

That's not fair at all.

Ted did spend some of that time sailing in a regatta the next morning.
