conservatives can process a GREAT DEAL MORE information at a time than liberals.

about five times the info at the same time... that's why liberals never find an actual workable solution, life isn't simple hammer-nail.

submitter: Study finds Consvatives process information faster than Liberals

Cute :)

Of course, it also says they achieve it by filtering out most of the information that doesn't fit their bias, but this statement will be invisible to Conservatives, anyway.

This is, for example, why black people still have to sit at the back of the bus.

Perhaps those "Consvatives" could slow down a little and learn to spell.

What's a consvative?

2007-09-11 7:29:14 AM
It's because the liberal ranks include stupid ass welfare mothers and Hillary Clinton.

2007-09-11 7:30:13 AM
its true, that is why it took Al Gore 6 weeks to realize he lost.

2007-09-11 7:34:43 AM
Sounds like certain people are having trouble finding their W's again.

2007-09-11 7:37:52 AM
This is because there are people who are stupid enough to believe that the world can be divided into "liberal" and "conservative".

A conservative is nothing more than a content liberal.

Like Saddam being responsible for 9/11 and having WMDs? GIGO.

about five times the info at the same time... that's why liberals never find an actual workable solution, life isn't simple hammer-nail.

Gosh, you are right mister! We never figured out how to give women the right to vote, end child labor, bring blacks out of Jim Crow, made our food safe to eat, and provide a means of subsistence for our elderly. Those conservatives really deserve our gratitude for being SO MUCH SMARTER than us. Hell, Bush was a Rhodes Scholar, don't you know?

I am glad the conservatives found a way to end terrorism in a way that isn't hammer/nail. I mean just invading places without a plan would be just the kind of things liberals would have done. Thank god the mideast is stable, friendly and Bin Laden has been brought to justice!

Yeah since bias and hatred always makes things better.

Also, the headline is a bit...misleading.

2007-09-11 7:52:01 AM
It's pretty easy to process information faster when you don't really think about the information in a critical or analyzing manner.

robeph: Also, the headline is a bit...misleading.

It took you this long to figure that out? Must be a stinkin' liberal...

I'm going to get coffee.

prjindigo: that's why liberals never find an actual workable solution

Why do we need solutions if "conservatives" have been running things for so long ?

Are there problems to be solved ?

The article says Conservative brains are defective.

The headline-writer subby guy won't notice.

Liberals had more brain activity and made fewer mistakes than conservatives when they saw a W

And as a result, very few of them voted for him.

2007-09-11 8:24:58 AM
Well that's simple. It's easy to process information if you ignore everything you disagree with.

2007-09-11 8:33:46 AM
It's not that conservatives process information faster, it's that they reach their conclusions without observing any of the circumstances. That saves time.

2007-09-11 8:46:45 AM
Conservative: W! W! W! W! W! W! W! W! W! W! W!...

Liberal: I'm not playing this game.

2007-09-11 8:58:12 AM
Well, this thread is gonna get ugly...

Riche

Oh, it already is. Making snap decisions and plugging your ears to any "wait, maybe we should think about this" is the great way to go through life, though.

2007-09-11 9:04:50 AM
That's obvious. Liberals need extra time to figure out how to tax whatever's been brought to their attention.

This Is Bold Text: It's not that conservatives process information faster, it's that they reach their conclusions without observing any of the circumstances. That saves time.

Exactly what I came in to say.

Ummm... subby did you even read any of the article? Nowhere does it say anything like what you think it says.

twobux: That's obvious. Liberals need extra time to figure out how to tax whatever's been brought to their attention.

Good point.

And conservatives save time by pre-judging everything before they have even thought about it. They're so good at this, they've even come up wit a word for this process: "pre-judice".

What a time saver.

Tastes Like Chicken: Ummm... subby did you even read any of the article? Nowhere does it say anything like what you think it says.

If you consider "processing" information to be akin to the way an irritable bowel "processes" Taco Bell Chalupas, then I think it does, in fact, say exactly what subby says.

2007-09-11 9:23:50 AM
Seriously though, why anyone would read more into this study than "Hmm, interesting" is beyond me.

1) It was a conditioned response INTENDED to get a knee-jerk reaction. How many cases in your real life can you think of a conditioned response that you have to analyze before reacting? About the only thing I can really think of off hand is a traffic light being yellow, and I admit I take about half a second to decide if I'm going to run it or not.

2) Look at the demographics for UCLA/NYU. I'd like them to do the study again in a southern area, just so the demographics are shifted.

But in any case, this really shouldn't go beyond "It's always interesting to delve deeper into our minds and the differences between us" to "because we're better than the other guys".

FTA:
Sulloway said the results could explain why President Bush demonstrated a single-minded commitment to the Iraq war

Indeed.

My cat can do a crossword puzzle faster than I can. Doesn't mean it's right.

It's also easier when conservatives don't care about getting the actual correct answer.

Excellent headline submitter.

2007-09-11 10:41:25 AM
...liberals were 4.9 times as likely as conservatives to show activity in the brain circuits that deal with conflicts, and 2.2 times as likely to score in the top half of the distribution for accuracy.

also, i didn't see anything about conservatives processing information faster. only that they ignore things well.

You mean kind of like submitter's ignoring the actual findings of the study and writing a headline that reflects conservative prejudice rather than reality?

I RTFA and I think submitter was trying to be ironic.

nice pic . It might hold some weight to had there been a draft , But our troop's signed up they know the risk involved .

conservatives tend to be more structured and persistent in their judgments

ya cant be judgmental with an open mind, can ya

Nice to see a few of our conservative chums like twobux have already waded in without RTFA. Good for you. Please keep submitting.
