Mugato: Are the chips made in China?

That would mean lead-poisoning, not tumors....

Also appear to be directly related to Fred Thompson lobbying the FDA for their approval, followed by Fred Thompson getting appointed to their company board of directors and making tons of money.

I have a cat that has been "chipped". I'm contemplating about getting it removed.

BTW, I thought my headline was better...

"RFID chips implanted to identify pets may cause malignant tumors. LOLcats not so LOL from this news"

I wish that someone would make a point of educating the common man about what cancer IS.

"Cancer" covers all bodies that cause damage to the host tissue by unchecked metastasis reproduction. Thus cancer is nothing more than your own tissue mutated in such a way that it no longer performs any function other than growth via conversion of more of your cells into tissue that performs no function other than growth via... etc

Cancer doesn't even hurt people, it's the loss of the function of the cells which are converted and the space being taken up by the useless tissue.

The point here is that EVERYTHING causes cancer. All of it. Introduction of anything into the body causes pseudo-random mutations in the reproductive code of the cells that it comes into contact with.
The higher the rate of mutation induced, the higher the chance that a cancer will be formed.

Blah blah blah technical stuff.
/Wish I could find that study where they used oxygen to give rats cancer.

That was Tommy Thompson, not Fred Thompson.

I never thought I'd say "good" to seeing something cause cancer, but here I say it. Even if there's never any evidence that it may cause cancer in humans, this study alone should be enough to convince employers that the long term increase in healthcare costs outweigh any benefits of requiring employees to have these stupid chips.

Just when I get my cat to quit smoking . . .

If you're a human being who voluntarily has a chip implanted into your body, you deserve cancer. You really do.

//Don't chip your pets. Get them a little 5$ ID tag. You asshole.

arollo: Don't chip your pets. Get them a little 5$ ID tag. You asshole.

It's mandated by the local SPCA. If you want to adopt from them, you must have the animal chipped before you even leave the premises. Two of my cats are chipped because of this; I debated chipping the third today (he's getting neutered). I decided against it.

Why? Because you're a paranoid nutcase? Sorry, I'll put my dog's welfare ahead of your neurosis, thank you.

My dog has an ID tag, but they can come off/be taken off. If you don't get a chip for your pet and you can afford it, you're just a jackass.
