Surprisingly above average for a BBspot concept and article.

Apple could be liable for almost $70,000.

ha.

Heh, that's funny.

Wow, what a deal. Just bring in your receipt from 24 years ago and the money is yours!

it wasn't a funny article when it was posted on reddit, and it's really still not funny.

Let me know when they expand this program to the Mac IIvx.

This is the closest to funny BBSpot has ever been. It's still not really funny, but sort of like "Hey, this is a moderately amusing idea that could have been funny in the hands of humorists." kinf of amusing.

Booooooo BBSpot
Yeah Beer!

Don't forget the proof of purchase. I think the bar codes from back then only had, like, two bars.

I just came here for the BBSpot biatching. I'll wait.

Pretty amusing actually. Certainly well above the average Fark TV episode in the humour stakes, and unlike the Onion it doesn't keep going 10+ paragraphs after it desperately needs to stop.

publicity stunt. Nobody is gonna have the reciept. I hate apple and always have. Smoke and mirrors. My $600 PC with 2 $200 lcd monitors has rocked for 3 years. At work I've got a brand new 15' core2 powerbook with 2gigs of ram $3000 and a $2000 proprietary apple monitor and it sucks so bad especially when developing in flash and it's slower with photoshop than my old pentium4 pc. Suck it apple.

And the proof of purchase from the original box, because you've probably been holding onto that since 1983. Headline oughta read "Jobs refunds seven grand to packrats and hoarders".

My father in law is just the kind of anal freak who probably bought one of those AND still has the receipt AND the bar code off the box. When he finds out it's just a STORE CREDIT, though, he's gonna be pissed.

I think one of the funniest things about satire articles on Fark, is the number of people too thick to realize it's satire.

HiFiGuy: Let me know when they expand this program to the Mac IIvx.

Funn you mentioned that. My progression of Macs: (starting in 1990)

Mac IIcx
Mac IIvx (yeah - that was a weird machine) - then did the upgrade kit to:
Mac Centris 650 (if IRC)
Quadra 800, then got the upgrade kit to:
Quadra 840 AV - then to:

Powermac 8600/250 - then threw aa g3/500 upgrade card, then to:
Mac G4 500
These are simply my desktops. I still have my Powerbook G4 1.33 17" (a great workhorse), I owned a slew of other Mac Lappies, a Duo 210 and a Powerbook 1400 such-and-such, I dunno - (I think it was 603-e based, I dunno)

/Still has a windows box for gaming and fun.
//My mac(s) - stil lrun sold and great!

Kinda funny, gotta give em that.

anyone read interviews of people who bought those damn things like a month ago? Talk about a bunch of little biatches. It is a throw away consumer item, the price will drop. It's not a damn investment.

Ok so apparently this article is satire, in which case I'm DEFINITELY sending it to my father in law, who will think it's real and proceed to the nearest store to get his credit, receipt and bar code in hand, ROFL! Thanks, Fark!

2007-09-10 01:46:16 PM
The only reason I would EVER use that much money on Apple products is if Apple started selling Apple brand RIMS.

pureobscure: I think one of the funniest things about satire articles on Fark, is the number of people too thick to realize it's satire.

Almost as funny as the people who don't realize when posts in the thread are also satire.

2007-09-10 01:46:42 PM
So are all the "Yeah, right- who's going to have the receipt?" posts due to bad satire, bad satire recognition, or the desire to be in the first 20 posts or so?

Seems like it happens every time there's a BBSpot link.

A good start, but a little over the top. To make it believable, you need a couple spelling errors sprinkled in with quoted Mac specs from at least a year ago. I like the use of "proprietary", though - nice touch.

You're getting there, though - +1 for effort.

First: You're a dumbass who bought an Apple display. The only people who do that are people who have more money than brains.

Second: Photoshop isn't universal yet, and Flash has only been released as an Intel version. Rosetta apps, especially big ones, are going to run more slowly than Intel apps. Know what the fark you're doing and you'll be okay.

Wiki item (so it must be true)...

In 1989, Apple buried about 2,700 unsold Lisas at a landfill in Logan, Utah and received a tax write-off on the unsold inventory.[3]

/haha

Detective Sandy V.: Seems like it happens every time there's a BBSpot link.

And this is what's funny about BBSpot. His mailbags are the funniest things on the site, it's astonishing what morons'll believe, and morons seem to enjoy firing off irate emails and message-board posts. I think he's still getting inquiries about the video card that can see through clothes. Priceless.

Okay, the internets told me that they were actually able to sell 100,000 of the $10,000 pieces of trash in 2 years.

HulkHands:

Nah, well at least his first sentence was correct. It really is a publicity stunt. What are the chances that the...10 people who bought one of these actually kept both the reciept and the box? Usually packrats and hoarders won't be dropping 9k on a computer.

2007-09-10 01:54:36 PM
can anyone posting even claim they have seen/played with an Apple Lisa?
