Little news flash fory you. Assuming you have dogs do you know if you are say tied to a bed and left alone in your house with your dogs eventually they will eat you alive?

Not saying you are wrong for loving animals but get a grip. Two legs are better then four.

Worry about humans first. Animals second.
2002-09-19 09:29:16 PM
Ernie is an alright guy in my book.
2002-09-19 09:29:29 PM
Animal is suffering you take it down. Use the 10,000 dollars or more that it took to get this disfigured animal functional and use it to feed an hungry person.

You're missing the point. This was a dog which was horribly abused and sending money to help cover the dog's medical bill was a way for people to say that animal abuse is wrong.
2002-09-19 09:30:12 PM
I was told dogs wouldn't eat you until a few weeks after you die, cats a little sooner.
2002-09-19 09:31:32 PM
amen Botox!
seth and ranold could both use a bleu cheese and orange sherbet enema.

i don't think it's so much a preference for dogs over people that causes this "bleeding heart syndrome"(which i have too), but it's more the percieved innocence of an animal that is less intelligent and conscious of right and wrong than a person.

i'm happy that this dog survived and is recovering nicely.
2002-09-19 09:32:10 PM
That's why dogs are cooler than cats.
2002-09-19 09:32:25 PM
Not sure Impaler. The account I read awhile back was a fat broad and the dogs ate her while she was still kicking. Her "beloved" pets too.

Also, numerous cases of the loving family dog killing the toddler in the house.

Like I say. Always put two leg's before four.
2002-09-19 09:32:32 PM
sending money to help cover the dog's medical bill was a way for people to say that animal abuse is wrong.

It's also a why to say "f#ck cancer research".

I'm half kidding, so please don't call me names.
2002-09-19 09:35:14 PM
people seem a little to quick to judge SethMonroe there for being reasonable. seriously, people go to some crazy extremes to keep animals alive. and a lot of people do care about them more than people. once, i came home, and there was a rabbit on the driveway. it was missing all of the skin from its back. i dont know if it was from a cat, or some punk kid, but it was missing the skin none the less. just sitting there, shaking. what do i do? do i take it to the vet so it can be saved? no, it met with a very quick death. whats worse? quick death or months of painful recovery, and never fully being what they once were? they were lucky when it came to daisy in that shes not emotionaly scared. but damn, what kind of life would she have had if she was?
2002-09-19 09:35:54 PM
My point of my Boobies is this!
Example; Your family member could die from burns due to an arsonist. Would you give your life savings to fund their recovery, rehab and meds? I bet you would!
I bet you wouldn't for a pet!
Get a life or join PETA!
2002-09-19 09:36:04 PM
Seth I don't need to worry about humans first. They can take care of themselves.
2002-09-19 09:36:20 PM
did they forget to mention that the dog will be receiving an award for helping police catch a guy who robbed a TAB in Queensland Australia?
2002-09-19 09:36:49 PM

The loving family dog is always the one so loved that he is tied up in the back yard...

hence, its NEVER the loving family dog, its the dog that the family neglected to love.

Your comments about the fat broad are really nice too.

Like i always say. Think with your head before your dick gets the words out first.
2002-09-19 09:37:10 PM
Whats so bad about being emotionally attached to an animal? The reason people are so fond of their pets is because that pet will give them unconditional love, it doesn't yell at them, tell them how worthless they are, call them fat, call them ugly. No matter how shiatty of a day you've had when you get home your pet will still love you, no matter how bad you screw up, your pet won't care. Thats why people love animals so much, when you live in a world where you have to deal with crap from people on a daily basis its nice to have someone there that just really doesn't care who are what you are.

And to think that someone could actually go as far as to torture or hurt an Innocent animal for no reason other than to get their rocks off, is in my mind one of the single most sick things a person can do. People who torture or kill animals are almost always seriously emotionally disturbed; many serial killers started on animals.

And to say that its silly to save that animals life is one of the most selfish things I've ever heard. That dog looks pretty happy to me. I think if you're ever seriously injured your family should just save the money and put a bullet in your head. Because as you said, I'm sure you can be replaced.
2002-09-19 09:37:24 PM
I grew up on a farm with no less then three dogs running around. New stray showed up we welcomed them into our family. They ran free and were on their own. I loved all of them dogs and being on a farm I grew up a natural animal lover.

However, I NEVER put an animal before a human. If you pay good money out of your pocket for an animals healthcare when there are suffering humans needing that money I can honestly say I undertand but you are an idiot.

Spend your money more wisely. I feel for this animal. It should of quickly been shot in the head and the perpetrator jailed.

Two legs before four is my motto. Take care of your own first.
2002-09-19 09:38:11 PM
If the dog was tied to the bed, I would eat it too. What's the point?
2002-09-19 09:38:30 PM
speaking of getting shot in the head...
2002-09-19 09:38:53 PM
Can you beleive that as***le didn't get any jail time. Mentally incompitent my ass. All in favor of dowsing this guy in gas and bar-b-queing his ass for a little while...
2002-09-19 09:39:18 PM
I never said I wouldn't put my animal down if it were
suffering. I've had to do it a couple of times.
2002-09-19 09:39:36 PM

You're a pathetic excuse for a human being

i dunno about that a pussy can be just as loving :P
2002-09-19 09:41:02 PM
You grew up on a farm? I should of knew.
2002-09-19 09:41:35 PM
I agree with PolloDiablo
2002-09-19 09:41:39 PM
Use the 10,000 dollars or more that it took to get this disfigured animal functional and use it to feed an hungry person.

why? i'd rather spend it on the dog who is 100% incapable of doing it for itself, than give a free ride to some bum who's too lazy to work. i grew up in washington dc, i've seen the filth that lives on the streets there, and i just don't believe it. there are lots of places to get free showers, and mcdonalds is always hiring. i'm sure that there are plenty of people who legitimately need help. but i also believe there are more people out there who are just unwilling to help themselves.

sorry, i just have higher standards for people than i do for dogs.
2002-09-19 09:42:31 PM
Seth Having lived on a farm for a few years growing up, I see your point about paying bills and food on the table taking priority. I do.
I mean, if one of our horses was seriously injured, what would be the point of costly medical bills, etc? So yes, we did what was called for.
However, this dog was rescued and given an opportunity to heal, and she IS healing. Thornhill has a point, it's more a case of 'This is just wrong behaviour' as opposed to it being seen as just 'one of those things, let's put it out of it's misery and move along'. If anything, you should charge your contempt towards the asshole who did this, not the people who sent in 5 or 10 bucks to help the dog.
2002-09-19 09:42:32 PM
oh great, here comes the farm bashing. im not a farmer, but i have noticed that farmers tend to be a lot smarter on average than city folk. and yes, there is a difference between intelligence and education.
2002-09-19 09:43:16 PM
Yeah. and the last time i checked, people are able to donate or spend their money any way they want to.
2002-09-19 09:43:55 PM
Marquis do you have a point?

Oh, start with the farm jokes. Yippee. All I know is I was working and accomplishing things when you were still crapping your panties.

Go ahead and mock farm families you worthless turd. They only made this country what it is and fed your fat ass along the way.

2002-09-19 09:45:45 PM
The man who is accused of doing this was found incompetent to stand trial at this time. However, this does not mean that he will go unpunished for this. In Texas, a person that is found incompetent is sent to a state hospital for treatment until they are deemed competent, usually about 4-6 months. Then they are sent back to stand trial.

Right on! Who keeps biatching about the Texas Criminal Justice System?
2002-09-19 09:46:23 PM
Why are you so angry Seth? I've seen you in many a thread
calling people Kunts, douchbags, dicks, etc? Were you picked on as a child?
2002-09-19 09:47:37 PM
Picturescrazy I would bet it was a cat/raccoon/fox who did that to the rabbit you found. We raised rabbits too.
2002-09-19 09:48:09 PM
Sweatergirl I see your point. If you have the resources and have a beloved pet who get's sick by all means get some medicine.

I'm speaking on the animals needing 10,000 dollars in surgery and it ruins a family keeping the animal alive.

Big difference.

I think we are in agreemant on this subject.
2002-09-19 09:48:16 PM
I agree with basically everything you said, but the last paragraph! The dog might look happy to you, but we as humans don't know if its really suffering! To see any human that we love that is suffering is tragic and most of us would offer to help them in ANY way to help their recovery! Any animal that we as Humans are attached to is different! An animal is an animal! Until you prove an animal offers everything a human offers, then a pet=human arguement is subjective!

Worry about humans first. Animals second.

Sometimes I wonder if I should. A dog doesn't attack you based on color, religion, sex, or mingling with other dogs. A little loyalty goes a long way.
2002-09-19 09:49:03 PM
Great news, I remember reading about this here in Fark when Ernie was trying to raise money for the dog. I feel that he should have gotten special mention in that article for his efforts, but at least some of us Farkers remembers what he did.
2002-09-19 09:49:10 PM
I would like to remind people that thinking the people who burnt the dog are the scum of the earth, and thinking the people who donated money are less than intelligent are not mutally exclusive ideas.
2002-09-19 09:50:19 PM
I wasn't mocking your farming so much as your grammer.

Farm on.
2002-09-19 09:51:32 PM
I'm angry because I was abused as a child, am Bi-Polar and recently tore the cartelage in my knee at work. The State took three weeks to process my paperwork (no paycheck in that time) then turned me down for assitance while I undergo surgery.

So that's why I'm angry. I'll be walking the street soon limping.

Any more info you need?
2002-09-19 09:52:32 PM
Ranold i believe i have to disagree with you about that. dogs dont hide their emotions very well. and while, its true that we cant tell if hes happy from a photo, those who are around him will know.

Sweater Girl i like your idea of it being some animal instead of a kid. takes away the evil factor
2002-09-19 09:53:04 PM
Sweater Girl ~~ Way to go Ernie!!

I'll second that
2002-09-19 09:53:17 PM
A dog doesn't attack you based on color, religion, sex, or mingling with other dogs

here come the rascist dog stories.
2002-09-19 09:54:54 PM
dont you think that there is something wrong with the concept of placing animals on the same level or higher than human beings? i remember recently a dog-washing clinic of some sort was opened near my house and i couldnt believe that people would pay money to have someone else clean and pamper their animal rather than use that money on themselves, their family, or another human being

i know animals have feelings but is that pedicure really going to make it's quality of life improve?

yes emotional attachment is a difficult thing to get around, but protecting yourself from pain is just going to make it worse when something happens which you cant prevent
2002-09-19 09:55:07 PM
SethMonroe: "Bullet to the head and move on."

Anytime you want one, buddy, just let somebody know. I'm sure there's plenty of folks around you who would be more than happy to put you out of your misery.

XSarien! dogs are VERY capable of being racist! and they dont have to be taught it either. i know quite a few racist australian sheaperds. they werent taught it, they just are. maybe more a lack of exposure than anything else. but it definetly happens
2002-09-19 09:56:40 PM
Marquis, I'm drinking booze due to the fact that the State cover's drug addicts conning the system but not honest workers trying to make rent.

That explains my grammar mistakes and I assure you my I.Q. rivals or betters yours sir.

2002-09-19 09:57:48 PM
Picturescrazy I would place money on it being an animal. I found a stray kitten once, and placed it in a cage with a couple of baby rabbits. They seemed to get along fine. The next morning I woke up to find one rabbit stripped of skin. The other was hiding in the corner of his little bunnyhatch. What a way for an 11 year old to learn 'survival of the fittest' huh?

*still feels guilty*
