Maybe, just maybe, the President should take responsibility for one of, if not the worst, disaster response nightmare in modern history.

2007-08-31 11:18:25 AM
Maybe, just maybe, they're trying both:

Democrats used the second anniversary this week to roll out comprehensive plans for Gulf Coast rebuilding while continuing to lambaste the Bush Administration's handling of the aftermath.

Workability is debatable.

That clusterfark has had a leadership vacuum since the first storm clouds rolled in.

Someone needs to bit the bullet and take charge there. That one crazy guy a while back had dreams of doing it. I say put him in charge if he wants the job so bad.

2007-08-31 11:29:59 AM
Vote Republican in 2008 and reject the folks who can't fix our current problems (that mysteriously developed in the last 6 years).

Oh I'm so glad this little talking point hasn't gone away. It helps me identify the true idiots.

/Dems don't have a plan, Dems don't have a plan, Dems don't have a plan
//keep saying it and somebody will eventually believe it

I really don't understand why the democrats haven't completely fixed everything the republicans broke in the past 6 years.

I mean, they've had almost 9 months now...

Exactly! What this country needs to get things back on track is a crazy guy in The White House.

A) I laughed

B) I meant in charge of the fixing of New Orleans

Maybe, just maybe, someone will finally listen to what is quickly becoming my mantra:

Neither side cares about you. They care about making themselves rich and keeping themselves in power. You demean and humiliate yourselves by willingly playing the role of puppet they cast for you.

Maybe--just maybe-- the administrative branch could appoint staff on the bases of competence, rather than loyalty and religion.

The Republican campaign slogan of 2008:

Why haven't you cleaned up our messes already, Democraps?!

2007-08-31 12:12:58 PM
"Well, hell...considering W promised to rebuild..."

And that works the same way as telling people what great faith you have in the great man who is doing a great job...both mean, "what I just said was a big lie."

So what federal agency has the mandate to rebuild New Orleans? FEMA? Any Democrats in the management at FEMA?

He'd single-handedly rebuild it in a day two and a half furlongs above sea level on a plateau made from the bodies of his enemies.

"The would be asking too much from the Democrats because they stand for nothing to begin with."

As opposed to the Repubicans who stand for bending over

2007-08-31 12:25:02 PM
So, what subby is saying, that after 2 years, the place is still in shambles and they haven't been able to repair the damage or even come up with legislation to help, so now it's the Dem's fault, oooook.

/why do I see this coming up more and more in the near future?

"Have you cleaned up my mess yet?" -- Vote GOP in 2008

2007-08-31 12:26:14 PM
Well, my plan would start with "removing the incompetent idiots in the executive branch that are incapable of creating or implementing a reconstruction plan." Sadly, my plan cannot be adequately implemented until November 2008.

Realistically, even given the best plan in the world, Bush would fark it up, because it would require 1) he listen to outside advice, 2) he appoint somone who is competent and impartial, not a politically connected hack, and 3) he pay attention and make sure shiat got done.

Sure the Federal government dropped the ball, but the state did as well. What happens when a state fails to do its job? I'm sure Congressman Paul wouldn't just write off New Orleans to Darwin...

1) if his policies were in place before Katrina, how would they have made a difference

and 2) if his policies were in place immediately after, how would they have fixed this disaster at all levels of government.

Exactly.

Let the feds offer unlimited loans at the fed rate to the state. That and sick the justice dept at the insurance companies.

Why FEMA 2 years latter? It is no longer an Emergency.

Yeah DUMBocrats! Why didn't you use your minority status and lack of any real power to get anything done in N'Awlins?

I'm so sick of this crap. They did it with Iraq too. Republicans do nothing constructive to fix anything, then when they're called on it they turn around and ask "What are YOU doing about it? What are YOUR big ideas, huh?" Never mind that they dind't have the ability to really get anything done themselves until 2006.

Here's a novel idea, it happened during a republican presidency, with a majority republican congress. Stop sitting on your asses complaining that somebody else won't take responsibility for it and DO SOMETHING YOURSELVES!

The state and city already proved how incompetent it was with Katrina.

If my house burns down because I was unable to properly contain my firepit out back and my insurance company failed to cover it... should the federal government offer me unlimited loans at the fed rate?

2007-08-31 12:49:34 PM
Maybe, just maybe, people will realize that it's not GWB's fault that reconstruction efforts in the most corrupt city in the most corrupt state of the union are slow...
