Bill Frist: Just saying I don't think it is specific to NYers by any stretch.

I never said it was. I just made it about NYers because that's example of the behavior that I see on a daily basis, living in Boston as it were.

Morlith: Seriously, people. Every team has douchebag fans. Get over all of the "Your Team Has Worse Fans Than Mine" stupidity.)

There are a minority of Yankees fans that are knowledgeable about the game. In my experience, though, most of them tend to be over 60.

Anyways...Football starts up this coming Thursday.

FlyingPig: It's just rude. If you've decided you want to make a place your new home, or even just visit, you at least owe the city a token amount of respect while you're there, even if you're not a fan of the home team. It's fine to wear a hat that isn't the home team, but not THE ENEMY, as it were. That IS a little bit like wearing "blood" colors on "crip" turf (alright, it's a slight exaggeration, but the same idea). You're intentionally trying to provoke a fight with the locals if you do that.

I think you're a little too sensitive about this. In NYC, it's hard to give a shiat that a guy is wearing a Sox hat when on the next corner there's a guy yelling to himself while waving a tire iron and wearing a home made 'eyes still in there' fur coat in July.

/Read all about it on my web log.

As a Red Sox fan I can proudly state that I am NOT a member of Red Sox Nation. Aren't the members of Red Sox Nation really just fans post 2004 World Series Win? Kind of like the Pink hats?

Is Manhattan always a rat hole with newspapers and garbage flying around? Maybe just one bad day?

I assume it's just one bad day. I mean, if it's a windy/rainy day, yes it's pretty bad sometimes. On an ordinary summer day like today, it's the greatest place in the world, IMO.

How often do you get out of Boston? There's plenty of Yankees fans of all different ages who know lots of stuff about baseball. Do you think the Yankees fans on FARK are all around that age or something?

Bill, just go and reread your posts from the NL cubs brewers discussion thread from Tuesday. It is all right there. Nothing made up.

I'm a Yankees fan. That being said, I submit this to you.

Completely made up. I"ve never ever said I didn't enter sox threads. I follow the Yankees and live in NYC so I'll post in those sometimes.

My only claims where that I rarely ever enter chicago threads, I'd only done it like twice in the past few months for some cheap laughs, and that I'm not by any stretch one of the frequent sports posters. I post in maybe one thread a day.

But I'm not sure why I'm even arguing with you. You were the guy who OPENLY ADMITTED that you didn't realize Johnny Damon wasn't a Red Sock any longer until this season. You said you thought he'd been on the DL list.

LOLZ!

Wise_Guy: OMG you actually talk to Yankees fans? What if they're wearing a hat?

LOL. He's acting like someone hijacked the capitol building and flew a Yankees flag. A guy wearing a hat is just that: A guy wearing a hat.

Yes. Exactly. Me too.

Wise_Guy: OMG you actually talk to Yankees fans? What if they're wearing a hat?

Settle down, dude. I've known a good number of Yankees fans. A few were alright. Most of them were clueless homers. And before you go on the defensive, yes, a lot of Red Sox fans are too. I admitted this in my original post. I try NOT to be one of those types. Which is why I would NEVER wear a Red Sox hat in New York. It reeks of arrogance and belligerence.

Morlith: Do you think the Yankees fans on FARK are all around that age or something?

Ha! You think the Yankees fans on Fark are knowledgeable?

Did you have to meet on neutral ground? Say, Connecticut?

Compared to most, yes.

You're just Mr Generalization today. Or is it always?

True, but misleading. I believe that you said you don't haunt Sox threads. In the context of that denial, it sounded like you meant you don't troll ("for cheap laughs") in Sox threads for sport, which today's thread would certainly contradict.

FlyingPig: I try NOT to be one of those types. Which is why I would NEVER wear a Red Sox hat in New York. It reeks of arrogance and belligerence.

You and Youkilis share something in common.

You both think you're so important that people would go after you, based on nothing at all.

2007-08-31 3:57:40 PM
Piper: Wow, you guys put more effort into reading my posts than I do into writing them.

But I don't see how I've been trolling here, unless you think EVERYONE'S been trolling. Its a thread about how the Red Sox Nation sucks and I made some arguments for how I agree.

Considering the average post on fark is just "your gay" mine might as well be grad school dissertations.

Yanks_RSJ

Even more amusing is the family full of tourists, fresh from Walpole. Dad is wearing a Patriots shirt and Sox cap. Junior is wearing a Big Papi t-shirt and Sox cap. Little Miss is wearing a pink Papelbon t-shirt. Mom is wearing an embarassed look on her face that her family is full of douchebags.

See, I don't care who you're a fan of... that's funny shiat right there.

2007-08-31 4:01:06 PM
Piper: Going back and looking at the thread, my only response to that Gimpy diss was

"Anyway, not picking a fight with Chicago just saying I didn't know bill_frist haunted you guys also."

Haunted? lolz. Sorry I strike home so easily for some of the more douchebag posters, but I barely post on fark at all. Hell, today is the first day I've posted more than 3 posts in over a week.

I stand by that. Every once in awhile I check fark and maybe post a few times in one thread. Saying someone "haunts" some other posters sounds like someone who spends tons of time trolling threads. But I didn't make any claim at all about "not posting in Sox threads" nor even did I claim I troll or don't troll.

2007-08-31 4:04:54 PM
I"d also note I was laughing more at the notion that I haunted chicago threads, when really I just posted one thing that pissed a few chicago kids off a few days ago and then had maybe a half dozen post arguement with same kids in one other thread.

If that is "haunting" I don't know what to say.

2007-08-31 4:05:34 PM
Wiseguy: A retarded Yankees fan vs. a bunch of Boston civil workers.

That seems like a pretty fair fight actually.

/kidding, settle down

Thanks for the giggle. Sadly, I see the Yankees fan winning.

Bill Frist: But I don't see how I've been trolling here, unless you think EVERYONE'S been trolling.

Actually, I think you're the only Yanks fan who's acting sensibly right now.

Bill Frist: I"d also note I was laughing more at the notion that I haunted chicago threads, when really I just posted one thing that pissed a few chicago kids off a few days ago and then had maybe a half dozen post arguement with same kids in one other thread.

The Chicago clique are some of the biggest instigating, back-patting, dogpiling douchebags on Fark. I don't like them either. See, we can agree on something.

PATS0707: I once almost got jumped for wearing a red sox shirt taking the train from Manhattan to the Bronx. Bunch of guys resembling the Wu Tang Clan said i was wearing the wrong farking shirt.

uh...that's cuz it was RED, not because it said "Red Sox". welcome to NYC. (hint: blank/gold and purple were also the "wrong farking shirt")

dstanley,

I guess you're a glass half empty sort of guy.

TheSup3rN0va: I disagree with your assertion about Owens. I strongly believe, and I've said this before on Fark, that his issues have stemmed from worthless, over the hill and/or douchebaggy coaches (Reid, Mooch, Tuna) and QBs (McInjured, Garcia, Bledsoe). He has a chance to prove my point this year, and we'll see, but I think you'll be surprised.

\Cowboys fan since I found out what football was
\\More worried about Romo than TO
\\\Can we has John David Booty next year just in case?

*waves to fellow 'Boys fan*
(not many of us around in disyere forum!)

I just don't care for TO or his big mouth. He's talked a lot but hasn't walked the walk--coaches or whatever aside. I think part of the problem is that Owens was/is Jerry's pet and Tuna was hamstrung. I have to say that Owens has been unusually quiet thus far this season and am glad. Now the team can concentrate on better things than the media circus over his Lance Armstrong impersonations.

I am confused as to the hiring of ol' Bum Phillips' boy. Were you?

Can we has good offensive line? Can we has chance?

=D

lilplatinum: Tat'dGreaser: What a farking tool. Everyone knows Yankee fans are the worst fans in the history of organized sports. Ok, Raiders fans are a very close second.

I would venture that Notre Dame fans rank up there..

The only thing Sox fans have going for them is that their team happens to be in the same division as the Yankees, otherwise they would be the team with the local following and the crappy history that nobody cares about-- kind of like the Pirates.

Ouch. I feel almost like you're trying to slap me with the forehand AND the backhand on that one.

You know... I like to consider myself a reasonable person, even, sometimes, a reasonable Sox fan. Sure, there are times when certain people on this site push my buttons and I go a little overboard - as a "fan", I think that comes with the territory.

I usually have considered you to be a reasonable person, even a reasonable Yankees fan.

And then sometimes you go ahead and drop a load of sh*t like that post.

And, I didn't read the whole thread, so it might have been pointed out already, but Red Sox Nation wasn't a Shaughnessy thing, originally. I think it was Bob Ryan.

And - unlike the Cowboys' and Braves' claims that they were "America's Team[s]", "Red Sox Nation" only applies to Sox fans, wherever we are. And we're everywhere.
