What a farking tool. Everyone knows Yankee fans are the worst fans in the history of organized sports. Ok, Raiders fans are a very close second.

Impossible.

Why? Because the Red Sox have every single flaw that the Yankees do plus several others due to their giant chip on the shoulder and constant failure.

The Red Sox are as arrogant as the yanks, they look down on other fans as much, they consider their rivlarly more important than anything else, they try to buy championships, etc.

But in addition to all the above, which apply to the Yanks, the RS are also complete hypocrites (whining about the Yanks buying championships or spending too much while doing the exact same thing), and they have this huge annoying chip on their shoulder due to their choking and failure that leads them to do idiotic things like chant "Yankees suck!" everywhere from Pats pre-season games against the Dolphins to local spelling bees. They are also the most in your face whining ranting fan base I've ever seen in my life. Yanks fans will just be snobs, but leave you alone. Red Sox fans will start foaming at the mouth and telling you how horrible your team is the second they see a cap that doesn't have a red B on it.


Worst fanbase in history. I'm not even sure what compares. Maybe british soccer fans (specifically Chelsea fans?)

The Red Sox have a history going back a long time with or without the Yankees. That the two teams' histories dovetail together does not mean that the only reason people like the Sox is because of the Yanks. That's just self-centered and silly. I know people in England and New Zealand who are Sox fans and they couldn't care less about "the division" or the Yanks. They like the character of the team

I think you missed his point. I believe what he was saying is that if the Red Sox were not in the AL East and did not have the rivarly with the Yanks AND had the same history (ie, decades and decades without championships, often failing to make the playoffs despite being the secord or third highest payroll, etc.) they would not have the same place in baseball that they do. They would be a fairly forgettable team outside of Boston.

I think this is a fair point. I mean, teams that constantly fail are almost always forgettable outside of their area. However, since the Sox are in the AL East and are chief rivals of basbealls best team (not this year, but over the history of MLB) they get cast into a David role that makes them the second most famous team.

Again, this is a very fair point. Of course, if they wenren't in the AL east perhaps they would have gotten into the playoffs way more times and thus won more WS. Very possible. Then again, maybe without the rivarly with the Yanks they wouldn't have gotten teh support and fandom and thus money and hunger to make teams as good as they have. Who knows.

you have bandwagon fans across the country who fill other peoples stadiums yet don't know the starting rotation, and you talk and act as if your team and your rivalries are the only ones in baseball.

Yep, this is another reason the Sox are far worse than the Yankees. As has been said by many people, there are millions of Nyers who don't care at all about the Yankees. Tons of NYers don't follow sports at all, of those that do plenty don't follow baseball, and even of NYC baseball fans obviously a lot are Mets.

Boston is different. Everyone in Boston has to be a Sox fan. Even people who don't care about sports or baseball and have never watched a full Red Sox game in their entire life will talk about how the Yankees suck if the name is brought up. I know lots of people like this and I've never even lived in Boston. Boston kids will travel to DC or Philly or NYC and still rant about how great the Sox are, despite not being able to name more than 2 or 3 current players.

Not defending anything in that video, but you'd have gotten a lot worse from Red Sox fans (or Philly fans or Chelsea fans or any of the other horrible fan bases).

What I'm saying is that if you go to a bar in a neutral city like DC with a Red Sox hat no yankee fan is gonna bug you. Wear a Yanks hat and you will get "Yankees suck!" chants all night from a bunch of annoying kids who think they are from Ireland because their second cousin studied abroad in Dublin.

I have a friend whose boyfriend got beat up at an LA Dodgers game for wearing a Mets hat. Got sent to the hospital (several other mets fans got beaten up too)

All I'm saying here is that provoking rival fans in their own stadium is always a risky move.

Getting shouted at during a Yankees game at Yankees stadium might be kind of annoying, but getting yelled at the corner coffee shop or during a concert by idiot Red Sox fans when there isn't a game going on in sight is much more annoying.

a) It is quite clear that the dude was deliberately trying to provoke them and indeed wanted a reaction. I'm sure he was carrying a sign with some famous red sox wit on it like "A-Rod and Jeter are homos" while carrying his camera and descending into the most famously rapid-yankees fan part of the stadium.

b) again, as I made quite clear, I was talking about in neutral situations unrelated to baseball. How fans react during a game at a stadium is one thing. As long as their is no violence, I don't really care. But fans bugging you on the streets with no baseball game in sight is another thing.

Phillies fans are the Red Sox Nation of the NFL.

I'd rank them as the second worst sports fan base in the country.
