On Thursday, Cuba's foreign minister, Felipe Perez Roque, said rumors about Fidel Castro's deteriorating health are untrue

Wine gets better with age. Cigars get better with age. Art never ages at all.

However, 81 year old communist dictators DO NOT get better with age. So saying that Castro's health isn't deteriorating is a bald faced lie. At best, he's not getting any worse. But he's at that age where his health won't ever get any better. We all know the score, we all know the rat bastard has to die eventually. But I guess commies are so used to lying that they just can't stop - even when the truth stares them right in the face.

That's because dead people don't have "health".

Once you become a commie you never die. All those spanish explorers that were over here in the 1500's looking for the fountain of youth only really had to wait until a man named Marx got off his lazy ass and get all borninated already, he would have saved everyone a lot of time and trouble.

Have a cigar.
You're gonna go far.

You're gonna make it if you try.
They're gonna love you.

Weaver95: However, 81 year old communist dictators DO NOT get better with age

As opposed to 81-year old fascist dictators, who we all know get healthier with old age? Or, heck, 81-year old elected leaders and 81-year old private citizens?

(It all depends on your definition of "better", to be frank. The only other 81-year-old communist dictator I can think of off the top of my head is Tito, and I don't know my Yugoslav history well enough to know if the 1974 constitution was a positive step or the beginning of things falling apart. He did live six more years and most of a seventh.)

Does not compute. Man, you're usually at least internally consistent with your histrionic jingoisms.

Come on, now: they're doing to Castro what they're doing to Ariel Sharon. Is this any way to keep the peace?

//Probably the only time you'll ever see them referred to in the same sentence
//let Ariel Sharon go; he ain't comin back, folks

I lived in Serbia from 89-91 and I used to see his picture everywhere, even though he had passed away in 1980.

I'm going to play my monthly "pendantic asshole" card and point out that "not getting any worse" is the same as "isn't deteriorating".

Moot point, since clearly Castro died in 1973. The hologram they replaced him with must be generating quantization errors at a rate the scientists cannot keep up with.

I said 'at best' he's not deteriorating. In all likelyhood he's rotting in the back room of some cuban shiathole of a hosipital, doped up and dying a slow death while his cronies figure out how to steal his stuff and get away clean before the whole island has a meltdown.

2007-08-27 7:23:06 PM
Remember how Saddam Hussein used to have a bunch of look-alikes going around the country? (His method of preventing an assassination.)

I wonder if Castro ever did the same thing.

I doubt he was, or is in, a shiathole of a hospital. All the medical care I've ever received and friends have received in Cuba was pretty damn good. My friend required emergency care, metal bolts for a fractured ankle. Now, we're tourists, so I don't doubt that we get special treatment. I'm quite confident that the dictator gets even better than what we got. His available resources are surely better than what a middle class person can buy themselves in the states or Canada.

So maybe what you meant you say is, "fark, die already." I think its a little naive to think that a dictator has to subject himself to the inhumane treatment you propose he subjects his citizens to.

to put things in perspective imagine if the current president had been in power for 30 years. Cuba doesnt look nearly as bad after that thought experiment.

Oh, God, Cuba most certainly looks as bad. Castro would execute people for disagreeing with him. While I'm no fan of our Prez, he wouldn't do that. Dick Cheney, on the other hand...

And I believe Castro's dead. As a doorknob. Dead dead dead. Can't wait for the party in Miami!

It seems to me that Americans are still afraid of communists the way some people are still afraid of Spiders.

You just keep on jumping on them, squishing them, and screaming how evil they are even when they are so mangled by what you have done to them they are near enough dead.

I thought we were supposed to be afraid of Muslims now ... like Saddam Hussein and his Weapons of Mass Destruction ...

The funny thing is they keep on telling us Osama Bin Laden is alive ... but Castro is dead ...

Who is telling the biggest lies in this world ???

What the hell are you talking about? Afraid of Cuba, I don't think so. They are 50 years behind the rest of the world they couldn't project power anywhere.

Now the Chinese on the other hand...
