(Rolling Stone)   And I bet you thought Bono already had an inflated sense of self worth. (with creepy pic goodness)   (rollingstone.com) divider line

Wow...

2007-08-23 3:27:27 PM
That is just... well, words fail me, actually.

2007-08-23 3:27:54 PM
I don't know art but I know what I like.

I don't like this.

2007-08-23 3:27:54 PM
This isn't asinine. Obvious, maybe, or weird. Maybe even scary. But not asinine.

2007-08-23 3:28:15 PM
At least he's not holding a cigarette.

2007-08-23 3:28:25 PM

When in doubt... use this word:

If you wanna touch the sky, better learn how to kneel,... indeed

Seems about right, he thinks he's Jesus, but when it comes down to it he's woefully uninterested.

2007-08-23 3:30:00 PM
Umm, wasn't it mocking Bono? If so how is mocking Bono asinine?

2007-08-23 3:30:07 PM
Damn it, he's got us talking about it.

2007-08-23 3:30:11 PM
that child doesn't look 'african' to me, just dirty

2007-08-23 3:30:23 PM
Atleast he whiped that dirt, i mean shaved his face...

Now if he can just ditch the sunglasses that make him look like a massive tool, this could be a big improvement for his image.

Seriously a man that concerned with image, you would think he would atleast try to look cool

2007-08-23 3:30:23 PM
Ugh. Political message art. It's been done, and better (see Goya, Picasso).

2007-08-23 3:30:37 PM
At the rocker's feet is an emaciated African child

Doesn't look emaciated to me. And it's colour is the same as Bono's so WTF is that 'African' coming from?

2007-08-23 3:30:38 PM
Oh well, that's art for you.

/ I'd be rich if I had thought of it first
// famous too

It's the best thing to be associated with U2 since 'War'

/Yeah, I went there.

Trite in its redundancy, with a hint of smoked cherry at the finish.

It appears here that Bono, unlike Micheal Jackson, dropped the baby.

2007-08-23 3:32:18 PM
That would look great in the family room. Right next to the picture of Pappaw.

So is this what art in the visual medium has finally been reduced to? Hit-you-over-the-head shock imagery with a dash of celebrity for flavor?

/turns on TV

Oh yeah...uuummm, never mind.

2007-08-23 3:34:18 PM
Whatever happened to art being a nice painting of some scenic view or maybe a real portrait?

Why is that when people now say "art" they think of the wierdest shiat possible?

2007-08-23 3:34:28 PM
I love how he indeed seems to not even notice the baby on the floor.

2007-08-23 3:34:30 PM
I ain't no bono fan, but i don't see anywhere in the article that says that he was involved with this at all. Just looked like an artist decided to use his likeness and make it all messiah-like.

I'd be interested in what his ACTUAL thoughts on the piece are.

2007-08-23 3:35:33 PM
I do not think you are allowed to so blatantly expose the shallow merit in the causes of liberal whack jobs like this... i think there will calls for the artists head on this one...

After all Bono has raised awareness for all kinds of issues with Africa, and kindly delivered millions, maybe billions into the eager and waiting hands of the dictators that perpetuate these problems... shouldn't he get a peace prize or did Jimmy Carter get the last one?

2007-08-23 3:35:36 PM
Why does Bono hate America?

2007-08-23 3:35:51 PM
SWEET IRISH, NIKE-WEARING, BALD-HEADED JESUS!!!!

THX 1138: I'd be interested in what his ACTUAL thoughts on the piece are.

I'm sure he'd be happy to tell you... just a soon as he's done tell you EVERYTHING else on his mind first. You may have to wait awhile.

Made obsolete by the advent of photography.

I'd ask him, but he's dead...

2007-08-23 3:38:04 PM
Bono is great. I mean he's selflessly dedicated himself to flying around the world on his private jet, is forced to hobnob with world leaders, and all so he can lecture the masses about how they aren't using enough of their money to help poor people in Africa.

2007-08-23 3:38:11 PM
...and I thought Andy Worhol destoryed the art world. I'm so glad to see great works of relav.... oh shiat! I almost made it all the way through that without laughing.

Art is dead.

he looks more like a properly accessorized Gandhi.

Or those bubble-heads that imprisoned Captain Christopher Pike in Star Trek.

Sadly, Applewhite lacked the awesome sunglasses. That would've made him more convincing.
